History student and a horse lover/owner all of my life, so I have chosen this subject for my senior thesis. I encourage you to expand your site to include seminal works like the Pantheon's Procession, (housed at the British Museum,) the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, Donatello's Gattamelatta monument, (the first equestrian monument since Classical antiquity,) and Leonardo da Vinci's studies for his horse statue. They set the stage for Stubbs, and you can see the love of horses running throughout, with the possible exception of Donatello, LOL. Best of wishes!!! |
