Hi everyone! I'm trying to track down anyone with further info on the Kelso family from Corrie, Arran. I can get back to John Kelso, b. 25 Feb 1870 at Corrie, Isle of Arran, m. Annie Rowen Shaw from Barrhill, Ayrshire,; then migrated to Australia in later life. There seem to be a few Kelso families from Arran on the web, but I can't work out exactly where my John b. 1870 fits in. | Comments: | I am the last of my Kelso line. However I named my son Kelso. I can trace my ancestry back to John Kelso and Mary Polly Kelso in Kelso, Roxburgh, Scotland. They had four sons--Alexander, Joseph, Hugh and Thomas--before they immigrated to Virginia in the mid-1700's. My branch of the Kelso family moved from Virginia to Tennessee and finally to Texas in the mid-1800's. I have been doing genealogy for a couple of years and find it fascinating. |

| Comments: | My Grandmother was Drusilla Mae Kelso, Daughter of Morgan Kelso, born in South Dakota in 1904. She lived to be 97, and saw the new millenium. She made her first trip away from home in a covered wagon, when she was 14, to take her father, who had lost an arm in a thresher accident to his Family in North Platte, Nebraska.
She lived through the Great Ifluenza epidemic that claimed her mother and some siblings, the same year her father lost his arm. She buried three husbands, and left one daughter; JUne Higley. |
