| Comments: | My Great Great Great Grandmother was Nancy Jarman, who married Revolutionary War Soldier Ezekiel Whaley (he was about 12 when he joined the Army as a Fifer). Ezekiel and Nancy Jarman Whaley lived in Dobbs / Lenoir county, if not all of their life, at least for all of their adult life. Their first born son was named John Knotts Whaley. I am trying to find Nancy's Father and Mother. Nancy was 53 in 1821 (according to a Rev War Pension related Court Appearance made by Nancy's husband Ezekiel), and her mother, who was not named, was born in 1744, and lived with the family in 1821. Can anyone help me make connections to the Jarman side of my family? The name Nancy was passed down my line until it reached my Grandmother. I notice the name Nancy was passed down all branches of our line for generations. Please contact me if you have any information to share, or if I can help you. |

(1)There is no formal form for your descendant chart - I just need something in any format you are comfortable with so long as it is showing your descent from your earliest known Jarman ancestor thru the intervening generations down to and including you with dates (approximate is ok) and places. (2)After you send me your information - descendant chart, snail mail address, number of markers you intend to test, etc. I will submit an order to the testing company so as to assure you get our group discount. They will send you the sample collection swabs and return envelope; you can send the payment to them when you return your sample. (3) In the 1920 census I see 10 year old Roland Jarman living with his parents Claud[ius] Franklin and Hester Jarman. |

THANKS for your reply to my comments back in October. I posted a phony email address because spiders crawl these sites and use the email addresses for spamming us. NOT your fault, but I don't want anymore spam than I already receive. I'm about ready to send in my DNA sample, but I have a few questions. 1) Where is the Descendant Chart located? I can't seem to find it on the website. 2) How is payment tendered? Lastly, I know that Thomas Charles Jarman is my father; Roland Jarman was his father (Eugene his uncle). And I'm 95% certain that Claude Jarman was Roland's father. I don't know for certain any further back than that. 3) Can we get a decent sampling from only three generations back? THANKS for your efforts! Charlie Jarman |

| Comments: | Well, how about that, I'm going through a website linked with GenesUnited and I see your email.
I live just outside Adelaide, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, coming originally from country Victoria, AUSTRALIA . My maiden name was German. I have four brothers and two sisters all still living in Vic. and am surprised at how many times the same christian names come up on the website. My brothers are Arthur, Raymond, Ken and Wayne and my sisters June and Donna. My father was Ephraim Nicholas Arthur German and he was born in Penzance in Cornwall on 16th May 1913. He had brothers Jack, Frederick Annear and William Leslie and sisters Elizabeth and Louisa (married Dalla). Dad was the youngest of his siblings. The family migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1925, except for Les who had come earlier and asked the family to follow. Dad's brother Jack, who was already married, stayed in Cornwall. Their father was Jack German and their mother was Rhoda Louisa Scott. The family members are very healthy and long living. We've always attributed the longevity to genes rather than lifestyle, although many of the family have been teetotallers. Last month, whilst staying with my daughter in Cambridge New Zealand my son in law found a PAUL GERMAN who went to NZ as a migrant. His father was William and he lived in Manchester, England. He said he had the silver coloured hair that is common in our family. I have it too. Lynette Bassani 0408 836 141 |

| Comments: | Charlie Jarman,
I hope you come back to read this. I tried to email you directly but you posted a phony email address. But the answer your question is - Maybe or maybe not. There were two Jarman families in Onslow Co., NC. One family is descended from Thomas Jarman, the schoolmaster, who lived on Halfmoon Swamp and is represented by sample 1542 which you observed has a 12/12 match with a sample with Cambridge ancestry (the latter sample really needs to be expanded to 25 markers!). The other much larger family lived on Jenkins Swamp and is descended from Robert Jarman, c1680-1761, who is represented by sample 1543 and YPV6476. So just knowing your family was from Onslow Co. isn't going to be enough to draw any conclusions. |

| Comments: | If I am reading the results correctly, AND based on the information I know to be true (that many of my line of Jarmans are from Onslow County, NC), then it looks like my European heritage goes back to Cambridgeshire, England.
Could you confirm my reading of the results? THANKS for your work! Charlie |

GG Grandmother's parents were John and Mary Jarman from Tyrrell County, NC. What do I need to do to help discover the first immigrant Jarman for our line? Is there a base of information already out there that can be accessed so I don't spend my time reinventing the wheel? Did the Jarman families migrate the way the Sawyer families did ---- south to SC and SW to TX, north to IL then from there W to Washington State with my grandparents finally ending up in Oregon? Some of the surnames listed in a book on the Sawyer line have Jarman, Best, Lamb, Snell, Sikes (Sykes), Scroggins, Walker, Spence, Fischer, Funderburk, Linton, Furtwrangler, Voyles. Besides Margaret Jarman, there are listed Wesley B. Jarman b. 18 June 1862 d. 4 Dec 1920, Wiley Jarman, Keziah Jarman b. 10 May 1846 in Tyrrell Co. and married Samuel Valentine Sawyer,Ira Jarman ( son of Henry Caleb Jarman, Henry Caleb and his wife Harriet Adline (Grant)Jarman, Henry Caleb was also the son of Henry and Keziah (Sawyer)Jarman. |

| Comments: | Howdy there. I've been trying with very little luck to trace my German family. My grandfather was Raymond Colburn German, 11-Oct-1916 - 22-May-1992. We believe he was born in Washington, DC. My understanding is that his father's name may have been Raymond also, and his mother's name may have been Georgia or Georgie. Once I make a little bit more headway I may be interested in participating in the DNA project as well, it seems very interesting. |

| Comments: | Greetings, Although not a Southern
Jarman, I was delighted to discover your website and all the information therein. : ] I am a descendant of one John Jarman, whose family apparently started out in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They migrated to Illinois and all became farmers around Peoria. I currently live in Washington, NC. But I have found no connection with the local Jarmans, although there seem to be quite a few in this area. Your DNA Project is a great idea!! Some of my other family lines are doing the same. Although, I have been able to trace my other family lines back to their English origins, I have not solved the Jarman mystery. I will check in now and then to see if you have uncovered more info. Good Luck!!! |
