Hi Roger. I am an avid hunter (sport and professional) from South Africa and have thoroughly enjoyed your web site. All my hunting rifles (.243, .308 and 30-06) have been fitted with suppressors over the last couple of years. I wish I had had it done sooner and I might not be suffering from partial hearing loss today. Keep up the good work and promote their use amongst the younger generation. God bless. Roak

What an interesting life you lead! I am a Letter Carrier (MailMan) and some time shooter in Las Vegas Nevada. Lately, it's too darn hot to go out and shoot. It was 107 in Vegas Sunday (43c?). I participated in an ICORE Revolver Shoot in Boulder City. We set up around 7:00 am. We started shooting soon after 8:00am. By 11 we were ready to get the "h e l l" out of the heat and go home. But we managed 4 courses of fire that were challenging before we packed up our gear and went home. I'm not much of a hunter anymore. I like to get out into the woods or desert far enough so that I can no longer hear traffic on the nearest highway. And I always carry a rifle or handgun with me when I go. I do enjoy seeing wildlife, deer, coyotes, jackrabbits cottontails, roadrunners, and whatever else I might roust out. I wish you continued success with your ministry. I grew up Baptist, but I repented. Smile friend, that's a silly joke. Thom Seiffert

Thanks, Roger for two Awesome moderators. I am extremely happy with the result. The one on my Volquartsen Superlite is such a prefect fit that you would think it is a factory item. The one for Sako Quad in .17 HMR is just as nice. The loudest part is the cycling of the action on the Volquartsen when shooting. The Balance of the Rifle is almost unaffected, since it is a very light piece of Kit. AAA+++ Keep it up. Cheers Chris

Great site. I've got a papoose too, I sure wish we could own suppressors in canada. Shame about .410 shells being so expensive there, here a box of 25 3" is 6.50$. It sure would be fun to hunt possums but there aren't any in canada, oh well we do have squirrels.... anyway just wanted to say keep up the good work I'm Diananike on rimfirecentral

N.Z. sounds wonderful and in your fotos looks quite a bit like western Oregon. Eastern Oregon is high desert separated from the west side by the 10,000 foot peaks of the Cascade Mountains. The only hunting that is target rich, by your standards, is ground squirrels, "sage rats", in alfalfa fields on the east side. Deer, elk, waterfowl and upland game birds can be found all over the state in exurban settings but require a lot of hunting for a little shooting. I've enjoyed your comments and fotos on RFC and just thought I'd check out your site. Have a happy new year, Dave Gilbert.

Hi Gordon. Really nice talking to you on the phone, and visiting your website. Sorry to hear about your illness. A good friend of mine experienced the same illness, and was fortunate to survive with little harm. I'm tempted to take you up on your offer of a job in the Fiordlands with you, but sadly I must decline. Like you, I have a large family, with six children, and they need their Dad close by. Cheers, and I'm really keen to follow your progress with your business. Cheers. Roger

Hey Rev. Nice to see such a keen varmint hunter. You have a nice collection of toys but I didn't see my favorite weapon of choice on your site. Have you ever tried out a .17hmr? The best on the market is the savage with the thumbhole just the same as your .22. Clinton Really nice to hear from you Clinton. I have kept to .22's, mainly because they can shoot subsonic ammo - and with a silencer it is completely silent, something that is necessary to keep neighbors - (around the forest and farms) happy. I understand that they are very accurate, and have a very flat projectory. Love to see some photos, or shoot with you maybe (Where do you live?) Cheers Roger

Greetings Roger I trust that this e-mail finds you and your family well ... Roger, possum #12 has eluded my traps under our house for the last 2 weeks, but this morning I sighted it sitting high on one of our poles. Do you by any chance have a gun I could borrow for half an hour or so to have a crack at it? with warm regards Phil (who is only about 1000 behind your possum count, I guess!)

Hey Ps Roger. Great one of a kind web site. How's the hunting going? The only thing I miss about Auckland is the fishing and of course hunting with you and the boys but I tell you what the hunting down here is awesome, especially as I have sole access to an untrapped, unpoisoned 800 hectare pine forest full of small game :-) can't beat that for great score aye. The small game hunting down here is amazing, last week I got 20 possums, 8 rabbits, 1 hare and a wild cat in one night all with the little marlin papoose and 80 CCI subs, Buying them in the 500 round bricks now (1 a month) anyway going to send some pictures of this weekends hunt on Friday, and will send pictures as the gun gets more and more modded ;-p Planning to put on it a Gunworks over-barrel suppressor, Leupold Rimfire 2-7x28 scope, Ultrafire tac light (12v, 225 lum) and maybe just maybe a laser sight, although I don't see myself using it as I head, or neck shoot possums easily with out one so don't see the point but HEY it still looks cool!the bipod on your papoose, dose it not get in the way of the supporting hand taking up so much of the forend? Not so keen on that mod sorry but I was thinking about a dispatchable barrel mounted bipod for ¡§out of car¡¨ shooting, will explain later¡K Done any trigger mods to the marlin?.. Talk later¡K Hamish

Kia ora Roger, my name is Ulafala and my family has just moved back to NZ after 10 years in Fiji. Your website brought back memories of varmint hunting around Tauranga where I grew up. I am interested in getting back into varmint hunting over the next year as we settle back into NZ. My 15 year old son has also expressed an interest in learning the ropes in a safe and challenging environment. If you have introductory sessions over the next few months for newcomers, we would be interested in coming along to learn and share. Thanks again for the web info. best regards, ulafala

hello, im a first timer at tanning, i work on preparing skulls, because of the research perpose. but i found that when i skinned the head i had a perfect face with ears and wiskers. so instead of throwing it out i want to tan it so children can look and touch. ive taken notes on your method but will the nose and ears be fine through the proses? please let me know as soon as you can thanks. Hi Great to hear from you. Yes, the ears, wiskers and nose will stay soft and supple, providing you soak the whole skin in the tanning solution for around 5 days. Careful when the skin is wet, as the fur can pull out easily. Once you have removed the skin from the tanning solution and allowed it to dry, rub some leather softener into it. Love to have some photos or more comments from you, and I will put them on the site too.
