Roger, Your sanctuary looks very much like my older brother's (in Omaha, Ne). They're very much into a musical approach to spreading the gospel (and he leads much of this - amazing guitarist, he is). Thank you for posting. Unrelated, did you disable your hunting/airgun website? I've not been able to reach it for a couple weeks. Again, great site and god bless you for spreading the gospel "down under!" (so to speak). Enjoy your site and look forward to visiting often. Larry

Hi I was just feeling a bit sad after attending a fatal car crash, where a young woman lost her life, I was feeling why did I have to be there,as I read your home page, that I have read many times now, I got a real peace that it all part of Gods plan so I just need to go with it. It was great to see again that God has a plan even if we don't get it, we just have to do what we have been sent to do, I will be intouch as the reason for me been there is shown to me, please pray for me as I attend the funeral tomorrow. love to you all Allyson

Hi church family! Its been nearly 7 weeks now and I miss home and church a lot but having a wonderful time. I have had my cousins wedding which was lovely. I love getting to know all my family over here and spending time with them. I went to Southport last week to watch some of The Golf Open and have been working in my Uncle's jewellery shop. I have also found a church that I really like. Nice people, great songs and wonderful teaching. Reminds me of home =) In August I will be heading to Oxfordshire with my Uncles to watch a "spot" of cricket then it's off to Nottingham to visit some more family and also that is where I will hopefully meet my half brother for the first time. I hope everything is great back home. Miss you all. Blessings Sarah

OK so I was browsing the internet and saw your site in my favourite places. How are you going Roger? It was good to see your face on the website and to read what's been going on down there. Since you were here (in 2006, has it really been that long?) Fiona and I have moved from Sobega and are now living at Lapilo because we have changed ministries, I am the NTM Field Co-Chairman (hey, it's just a title!) and Fiona is the Field Home School Coordinator. We miss Sobega but if that's what it means to serve the Lord, hey, we'll do it. I don't use the same email you used to contact me on, so you will have to use my phil_emery@ntm.org address, if you still want to keep up contact with an Aussie :) Anyway, don't want to take up too much of your time. Just letting you know we are alive and kicking. Love and Prayers, Phil and Fiona

Nico in Holland!
Just received this Email from Nico in Holland. Had to share it with you................................................ Ooh, ooh, my holiday in holland was till this far almost perfect. Small parties, visiting places, family and friends and having fun. Till now!! On new years eve i was with friends in an downtown appartment having a quit drink till the banging of the 12 oçlock hour. That went allright and we went outside with our champane to look at the increasing amount of fireworks allround. I made sure that Cenny was witness to this by a call too her on the spot. We were standing in a group well away from the dangerzone. (well, we thought so) Now , the amount of fireworks allowed to be owned by individuals in holland is tremendous. So on every streetcorner you will have a fireworksdisplay a la Papakura or Waitakere Trust Stadium. Seriously, i'm not kidding! There we were feeling safe and watching the display from a distance of about 50 mtrs. One rocket takes a vertical approach straight for me. I can see it coming. My normal reaction is : stay where you are cause if you move it gets worst. (lightning speed we're talking about here!) This huge rocket lands itself unexploded in my armpit. And buries itself into my jacket. I look away for safety and BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! Explodes right there and then, in my armpit. Well, you can imagine the shock and horror of my friends cause it set my jacket alight in a mean way. Took that of swiftly and i must say very proffessionally being a re-enactor surrounded by pyro frequently on sets. But now i smell of burned polyester and starting to feel a bit....sick!!!! A huge hole in my jacket and vest i wore underneath was the result. My aunties jacket, cause i borrowed it!! That is probably the reason why i felt a bit sick after. So, off to Eddies place to get changed and revive myself for a pleasant evening. No way... i'm going to bed, had enough exitement for the night!!! And decided that next time i go to Holland it will be in a quit period without fireworkdisplays. I'm still in good spirits although a bit dented by the event and ready to go home to quit and safe New Zealand. Greetings and Kisses. Nico

Hi Pastor Roger, I was so impressed with your Foundations for Life book I just purchased, that I started working through it last night and I shared it early this morning with 2 ladies in my prayer group one who has been suffering from depression for years (on sickness leave at work till hopefully next year) and one who is leaving her job after years of stress (not sure where she is going to next year) - we're all teachers - seeking God's guidance. You're book has come at a good time for us! a God-send! Helen

Hi Roger, Just a quick note to let you know that the Jubilee Photo DVD arrived here on Saturday morning. Thank you very much for sending it, I enjoyed looking at some of the pictures already. Makes me a little bit homesick, but it's nice to have some connection with home. I'm preparing now to go to China, maybe January, where a friend (Chinese) wants me to help him start an English language school in his home city. Native English speakers are "hot" there he tells me. I hope so. Bye for now, and God bless. Happy Christmas to all, Ron

Before deciding to join with Te Atatu Baptist I was in an AOG church for nearly 20 years. I was an elder and had ministered prophetically for most of that time. To leave was not a decision I took lightly, but due to what was happening in the church I decided I was not going to bring my new wife there. I had married Gail in October last year and we wanted time out from all ministry for a year in order that our marriage would start on a solid foundation. During the course of this year I felt so unwilling to come to church that it became a real effort and had to force myself to go. This was so out of character for me, as when I became a Christian I had such a love for Jesus and the church and couldn’t wait for Sunday. I knew something was wrong, but didn’t know what, so I sought help from Pastor Roger. I also realised that If I did not seek help the problem would become like a festering sore that would have worsened over time till I was out of church altogether and backsliding, for me this was not an option. I shared with Roger all that I had done in the previous church, such as working behind the scenes, the prophetic gifting I had and the times I preached and encouraged others in their walk with God. In working with Roger he looked at my spiritual gifts, encouraged me to use the talents that God had given me, and to move out and prophesy again. A couple of Sundays ago I stepped out for the first time in over a year and prophesied, what happened was not short of a miracle, the desire to be in church rose up in me again, it was like something had broken in the spirit through stepping out in faith in the gift God has given me. Sometimes all it takes is a step of faith trusting in God. My encouragement is this; when you feel something is wrong in your walk with God seek help at once from a trusted friend, Pastor or elder. Don’t let satan use hurts, anger, bitterness, or anything else to put a wedge between you, God and His Church. We all at some time get hurt from those we help and love. We can’t help getting hurt, but we can help what we do with it. By releasing the hurt to God and forgiving those who have hurt us we can experience the true healing of our Lord Jesus Christ and move into a new place.

Hello, I didn’t make it to the 50th reunion. Would’ve loved to have as I went to TAT Baptist Church for many years as a youngster, but am now living in Canada. Saw that a picture of us guys in “Boys Brigade” was on your website and that bought back many memories for me. Anyway please let me know how I can pay for the DVD and I’ll supply you with address to mail it to. Regards Ken Sanders

I realise this is for people who turn up at church, but I am in ChCh and was given your website to look up your P.N.G. story. It was great. We worked with N.T.M. from '67-'83 and lived on the Numonohi base as well as several other places finishing up in the Sepik. We were there before Independence and could hardly believe the changes later, but it remains our favourite country and we still correspond with a number of fine Christians. We are "ill at ease" with our own culture here in N.Z.May the Lord continue to bless you and your family, your local ministry and your opportunities to share the love of Jesus in overseas countries.

To all the members of Te Atatu Baptist Church, On behalf of our NTM missionaries living at Sobega, I just wanted to pass on to you all our heartfelt thanks for the privilege of allowing Roger to come and spend some time with us at Sobega. What a blessing and an encouragement he was to us. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to him share from the Word and it was a privilege to have him eat with us in our homes. Thank you, Roger, for spending time with us all and for your words of encouragement and exhortation. Your trip out to Yagaria will be remembered by the locals out there for years to come. It would be lovely to see you again some day in PNG. Please keep in touch and thank you so much for your gifts and your prayers, they really do mean a lot to us up here. Jared says to say hello. Hello, and greetings from Pt. Moresby, Papua New Guinea. I have just returned to Pt. Morseby from a couple of weeks visiting my birth place, of Goroka. Thank-you to everyone from my home church of Te Atatu Baptist who supported me in prayer and other practical ways. It was a blessing to visit my childhood home and tribe at Yagaria, to encourage the missionaries there, and to see so many faithful Christians, around 1000, that has multiplied so much since our family was there as missionaries, 40 years ago. God bless, and look forward to seeing you all soon in NZ. Roger.

I love the members of this body of Christ dearly. We have so many wonderful spiritual grandmas and grandpas at this church. I am continually blessed by the 'old faithfuls' and their love for the good Lord. The rest of the 'family' are equally delightful including the young at heart middle-aged, the vibrant youth, and the gorgeous children. May the Lord bless you all richly as you continue in your faithful service to Him. I am honoured to call you relatives in Christ. *smile*

'Testimony to the provision and magnificence of God!' ( Published with permission :-) Last week we had a need in our church family that God wonderfully supplied - and He did it through our members helping one another. One of our members had an urgent car repair, and no money to fix it with, so I sent around a Email to the church family. Immediately the money came pouring in. The car was repaired, but we had some money left over, which we thought could be put towards a 'service' for the car. However, the car broke down again two days later, and we put it into the mechanic to be fixed. Once completed, I was left with a dilema. We had used up the 'extra' money, but were still $75 short. Today another cheque was delivered to my office. The amount? $75 - exactly the total amount needed! What a faithful God, who provided all our needs, at just the right time - in just the right amount. God bless each of you who listened to the prompting of His Spirit in this situation.

Hi Roger - my Brother! :-) I'm really excited that you're going back to your birthplace and the place that we lived. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. It's funny what you remember - really the only thing I remember is that I had a friend who's family was the other family of missionaries there with us and they were from America and they had BROWN bread! The other memory is of doing collages in a workbook of some description and gluing material into the book to make some little curtains that you pulled back to look at a scene through a window. Have a great trip Roger - I'm sure it will be life changing for you. xx

I'm Shirley, Roger's Mum, And, of course, because I'm his Mum, I love him to bits. I love the way the Lord is using Roger,Debbie(Roger's lovely wife), and all the family there at Te Atatu Baptist Church. I love, in fact I grab, every opportunity to go over to Te Atatu to join with them in worship. My home church is Sunnynook Baptist on Auckland's North Shore, where I love to attend also. I'm spoilt for choices! Te Atatu Baptist was my home church when my husband and I put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour just 6 weeks after our marriage in 1959, so it feels like I'm 'going home' whenever I go to church over there.
