Comments:All of my ancestors were from Moore County on my Mother's and Dad's side, so this book was a real find for me. It filled some gaps I had in my family tree, I had not been able to find. My ancestors include "Uncle Jimmie Gowen", William Lafayette Anderson, Luther Anderson, Narcia Allen, Queen Victoria Sanders and Squire Edmond McNutt and many more. I am giving my copy to my Dad for Father's day and ordering another one. I have also emailed my Gowen relatives in California to pass along this find. You all did an amazing job, and I can't imagine the hours that must have gone into this.

Thanks!

Comments:I was born in Moore County on Louse Creek and I'm very interested in getting the Moore County, TN Heritage Book finished and published. Moore County hasn't had any history done since 1886 when Goodspeed did some history on TN. This is the last chance that we will have to see that our history is recorded. My wife, Jewel, and I, along with several other book committee members have been working very hard to see that this is a very successful endeavor. We would like to see every family story, as well as community stories, have been entered. We need everyone to make this a success. Spread the word!!!!

Comments:The Moore County Heritage Book deadline was extended to Feb 15, 2004. We received the Chestnut Ridge Cousin article and several others from the area. Do not let your family be left out, it is a Heritage Book, this includes the past and the present, so put your present day family in it. If you have not written about your family please do it. We also want community, church, school, military items etc.
George Stone, co chair Moore County Heritage Book Committe.
Our other co chairs are Christine Prydom and Joyce Burton.
Contact us and we will be glad to answer any questions.

Comments:We hope that the Moore County Heritage Book is a success. We have formed an organization known as The Chestnut Ridge Cousins in hopes of studying, preserving and exchanging information about the hills and hollows of "The Ridge" area. We have written an article about our organization for entry into the book. There are so many stories and old tales that I hear about of our early pioneer families that settled in the area.

Thank you for the effort!

Name: Joy Warren Smith
E-mail address: joy0420@charter.net
Comments:Nearly 200 yrs ago, Rev. Jos. Smith came to Bedford Co (now Moore) as a Meth Circuit Rider. Buried behind Turkey Creek Church. Same time frame, next door in Lincoln Co, the Warren's, Shelton's, Land's, and Stewarts were "marrying up" and settling that wild area.
22 years ago, this Warren who grew up in Rossville, GA, with roots in LCT and Moore Co, married a Smith in Jackson Co AL, whose ggggfather is the Rev. Jos. Smith. We've come full circle, and this book is such a wonderful opportunity to lay down such stories. Thank you.

Comments:I have lived in Lincoln Co. since 1957 but I have no relatives, past or present, in either Lincoln or Moore Co. I have published articles in both McMinn and Polk Co. Heritage books. I donated a Polk Co. Heritage book to the Lincoln Co. Genealogy Society several years ago. This group is presently in the planning stage for publishing a Heritage book for Lincoln Co. I hope to be able to participate in some small way.
You have a very interesting, well designed Web Page. Thank you for allowing me to visit.

E-mail address: geneforbes@worldnet.att.net
Comments:My ancestors included McDaniels, Hammers, Smiths, McKees, Kerbos,Austins/Austils, Sullengers, and etc, etc who at one time or another resided and helped populate Moore County. My 88 year old father who will be 89 in Feburary has very fond memories of living in Moore and Coffee Counties.
The best I can determine, my earliest ancestors started out in Lincoln County and never moved. But, the county line moved and they ended up in Moore and Coffee Counties. Geneology is so much fun!
