My Rowe family also lived in Pike Co. for awhile before moving back to Wayne Co.(W)Va. in 1858. My 2-great grandfather Rash Rowe was born in Pike Co. around 1851, the son of Joseph Rowe and Elizabeth White. My line, too, goes back to James Rowe, through his son Stephen and wife Barbara Huffman.

| Comments: | I was looking around for records in Muskingum County hoping I could find something on my gggrandmother, Fannie D. Peyton, who was born in Dresden, Ohio in 1855. Also hoping to find info on her father, Thomas Peyton, who fought in Civil War, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 16th Regiment, Company D. He joined the OVI two weeks after it was organized and fought all thru the Civil War - battles at Vicksburg.

married Pheobe Montgomery whom I believe was the neice of Brig. Gen. Richard Montgomery. Orville and Phoebe son Sprague married an Emma Smith, Other children were Adelbert Eugene Downing, Alfons della Martine Downing who married a Washburn, Ethelinda, David who married a Nichols , Thomas, Fred, etc. They settled in St. Lawrence County of NY sometime before 1855. I am under the impression that Orville (whose father was born in Vt.) came from Mohawk Valley of NY because he prided himself as being a Mohawk Dutchman or perhaps he was connected to the Mohawk Indian lines.....who knows. I am at a brick wall here. |

Going into your site, it was interesting to see another of my family lines, BOYNTON, connected to the CUTTER line. In our family they are from either side of the family, the Cutter on my mother's side & the Boynton on my father's side. Both lines from MA into ME.
