My name is Lyudmila. I am Russian-Korean.I'm awfully interested in learning korean folk dance? but actually have no opportunity to do it. I live in the Far East of Russia and here we've got only one school of korean dance-"Ariran", in city Ussuriysk, but the problem is that one can enter it only if you are under 16 (16 is considered to be old, I am 27). The other school, in Vladivostok is dobtfool. I would be very apprescisted if somebody, ANYBODY advice me where I could get DVD lessons or some alternative. Please!!!!! I was looking for a wallpaper for my laptop. I fell in love with the one where the little girls are lined up with one foot out and their arms raised to their side, standing in front of the Korean drums. My um-ma really wished for me to take traditional Korean dancing classes because she never had the opportunity when she was younger. I took the conventional "piano lessons" road, but will expose my future children (someday) to pursue Korean dancing lessons. It is so beautiful, beyond words. And although I was born and raised in L.A. and went to Korea only once 12 years ago, there's this camaraderie, this innate spiritual connection to Korea that a Korean with American culture experiences. I consider myself lucky and truly blessed to have two wonderful, and at times stressful, Korean parents. Thank you for posting such wonderful pictures. |

It's a really great website... lots of colorful pictures of dancing.. I'm working on my piece for flute and percussion. For this piece, I want to add some gestures of Korean dance ( I'm thinking Sal Poo ree).. but I have No idea how to choreograph in the score. The only way that I can study for this is reading a book such as "dance notation"... Would you please give me an advice, title of the book or visual materials I can look at? | Comments: | Love your photo gallery! Our 3 children were adopted from Korea and we spend a week each summer at Kamp Kimchee, a Korean culture camp, where the girls learn Korean dance. They also have attended the Korean language village (Concordia Language Village). Since they have learned the basket, fan and sleeve dances your pictures are a treat! Wish your product store would give some "ballpark" prices in order to get an idea what the items would cost. Thanks for a delightful website. If we lived in your area we would definitely love to attend your classes, but MN is too far away! |
