I just wanted to say I found your web site for your beautiful angel today. I am so sorry about your loss and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Such a precious baby girl and a angelical name. I hope you don't mind but can I share my story about my niece with you, I miss her so much. I am only a Aunt of a Angel not a Mommy. My niece passed away in July 2001 from being born early also. Emily Ann was 24 weeker. She was born on July 11th and went to join the other angels on July 17th, the night before my husband's birthday. Her Mommy is my husband's sister. Emily weighed in at one pound, two ounces. They were out of state on vacation when Emily was born so we never had a chance to meet her. I was to fly down that week but Emily never made it. The NICU docs said she had NEC and would not live. I received the phone call that morning from my sil and I had to tell the family that Emily was dying. We all are still heartbroken over our loss. My daughter, my husband and me plan on doing something special for Emily for her birthday this year. I worry about my sil so much and have done so much to help her with the loss of Emily but she avoids the subject of Emily alot with everyone. I have known her for a very long time since she was about eight and she will be 22 this year in the fall. I tried to answers her questions when Emily was alive since I too had a preemie 25.5 weeker, my daughter was pretty healthy despite that fact she was born too early. So I knew the NICU language well enough. I never knew about NEC though and felt helpless. I feel so empty inside from the loss of Emily and all of us are having a really hard time. It just feels like she left us the other day not almost a year. Sorry to go here like that. I want to thank you for sharing your story with me and letting me share my story about Emily with you. I can see that you having a very loving family and much support. I only send your family and you prayers, hugs and hope. The Serenity Prayer.... God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. |

Instead we are remembering the pain and sadness that was our lives that first week in March, 2001. It has been a tough year for your mommy and daddy. They miss you so much; and your grandparents miss you.
We have missed what should have been. A year of watching you grow and learn and become the sweetest gift in our lives. That is what a grandchild is. A sweet gift from God to remind us that our lives will continue in each generation and to remind us to love and teach these children of our children even better than our own. My heart is with you both as my husband and I also had to make the same hard decision. Tyler died in 1997 at 8 weeks because all the veins between his heart and lungs were too narrow and there was nothing more that could be done for him. And the only operation that was offered could only offer him maybe a month more of life. We could not bear the thought that he suffer any more and let them cease his treatment. God gave me great peace though I hated having to do this as we wanted Tyler to live. Our babies are now fully perfect and living with no pain I hope that also brings you great comfort. God Bless. |
