| Comments: | I am a former patient of the Shriners Hospital in Montreal.I have had approximately 11 surgeries at the hospital for a rare version of a degenerative bone disease in both of my feet, called Sharko mary tooth, or Clubfeet. I had my operations between 1964 and 1975.I have nothing but good memories from that hospital.Bagpipe marching bands, clowns,Magic Tom(a well known local magician at the time)Giant Jean Forest(a well known wrestler at the time),actually holding me in the palm of his humongous hand(the first hand-chair),waking up after naptime with a chimpanzee on my bed and an endless supply of love and sincere devotion from the incredibly fantastic staff at the hospital.A few years ago I had my right foot amputated below the knee in a Montreal hospital(that shall remain nameless)and for the first time in my life had to have surgery and spend time in a hospital other than the Shriners.Words cannot convey justly the outstanding difference, in the overall types of quality I experienced in the two hospitals.Heaven and hell come to mind but I digress.I just have to say that I deeply and sincerely have to thank everyone who was on staff back then for being an integral part of my life that I will never, ever forget. If every hospital in the world was like the Shriners hospital,... the world really would be a better place.I know it sounds corny but it is so true. Most sicerely yours Ian Bernhardt.Don't ever change for anyone or anything. |

The Kartem ARC was founded on the 23rd of February 2007, at Karnak Shrine Center. The Nobility has the will and pleasure of introducing the mysteries of Nature and Science to the youth of the Montreal Shriners Hospital, Canadian Unit. All Units are represented. Actual events and field operations are distributed all over Montreal and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. For expertise, it is closely associated to national organizations and to the Montreal Amateur Radio Club (MARC). Our goal is to unite all Shriners, Freemasons and their Ladies. To promote Amateur Radio and its virtues at the Shriners Hospital, and as we look up to the Heavens, to communicate universally the principals of the World Greatest Philanthropy to all continents and seven seas, while exploiting an experimental station of Amateur Radio. | Comments: | Hello to all Karnak Nobles and their Ladies.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all well. I have been living in Ontario for the past 20 years now. Wow, time flies. For the past 5 years I have been living in Muskoka. It’s a great life. Living in the north has been a wonderful experience. Getting back to nature one could say. I am glad our Hospital will be staying in Montreal, that’s right where it should be. I did send a young girl there to the hospital that needed help. The staff took her right away and also made arrangements for her Mom. She is doing great both her and her Mom will never forget the Shriner’s Hospital in Montreal and how they were cared for. I received the notice from Karnak in the mail I am glad we were able to raise $30,000 for the Hospital. Great show. I really like the saying “Healing the World One Child at a Time” it’s our thing, it’s full of meaning and it’s right from the heart. So long for now. s&f David www.geocities.com/davidjw1694/My_page.html |

| Comments: | I am glad the hospital is staying were it is. It would have been a change to have it closer to home but I would have felt for all these kids starting to get to know all new doctors again! My daughter has been going to the shriners Hospital since she was 2 years old Thanks to
Noble Jack(John) Murphy from Windsor, Ontario. Unfortunately Jack past away from Cancer on July 28th/05. Candice made him proud. He looked forward to hearing what the hospital was able to do for her when she went on every visit to clinic. Candice is now 12 years old and she is fortunate for the shrine hospital and what they have had to offer her. I believe if it wasn't for trying some of their procedures even though she was too young for some of them, Candice would not be here today! Thank you to all the nurses like Sharon,Natalie,Chantelle,Lucy,& Linda (just to name a few LOL) who go out of their way to make each childs stay a joyful one and to the doctors (Larson,Montes,Hamdy,& Corcus) that take their time and show how much they care. And Most of all 'Thank you' to all the Shriners that make it possible for kids like ours to have a place to feel like home instead of feeling like they are just in another hospital being treated like a normal patient in a regular hospital setting! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! Thanks, Dan, Michelle and Candice Faerber Windsor, Ontario Tuesday, August 16th 2005 - 01:04:35 AM |

| Comments: | Mr. Duff,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have carefully read the report prepared by the Canadian Study Committee chaired by Mr. Bracewell. I found absolutely nothing in it that would have justified building the new Shriners Hospital elsewhere than in Montreal. By the way, in my honnest opinion, Montreal did not win anything as a result of that vote; the Canadian children won all the way. As far as I am concerned there is no competition for my own funding contribution for the new hospitals in Montreal. My money was going and will go to the SHC. Furthermore, when I contribute to any cause, I always make sure to avoid "dire consequences". |

| Comments: | AHHH! What joy I felt when I heard that the hospital was staying in Montreal. Yes I've been there for my first 16 yrs of life of and on. Lets just say that the hospital was my first home. The love and caring of the staff, the new friends I had made, the joy and the laughter that the Shriners have brought us, and of course the view of the moutain when we looked out the back window and the view of the city from the front window. They couldn't have chosen a better place. The hospital has lived here for so many years why change that now? It's legend in our time the hospital on the hill. LONG LIFE TO THE SHRINERS, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have all that I have today. Thank You! And many more years to come in Montreal! |

| Comments: | Way to go Montreal! I always believed yours was the right spot for the Hospital. As a former patient of the facility (from age 2.5 to 22) I know first hand how well I like so many others I met there were cared for just like the nurses and Karnak Shriners own kids would be, we were always called by our first names unlike other hospitals I have been in. They knew us our familes and went out of their way to do whatever they could do for us. So again it is wonderful to hear that Montreal will still have the hospital there for future generations to appreciate as I did. |

I could not see in any other location than the city of Montreal. The staff and the Karnak Shriners have always treated each and everyone of the kids that are there like their own family. I have never been to a hospital before or since where that was the case. Again congrats on making it to this point |

| Comments: | Dear Sirs :
I am very proud about the decision which was taken today by your representatives in Baltimore, Maryland, about the Shriners Hospital, which will remain in Montreal. My uncle, Charles T.Girvan, used to be involved in the Karnak Shriners for many years. Unfortunately, he deceased last January 2005. I am sure he would be happy about this issue and sad about all this situation. Yours truly, Christiane Dupont (Mrs.) |

| Comments: | London didn't show us what advantages there are by choosing their location. They prefered saying that Montreal soil is contaminated and also the possibility of a Quebec separation. Let me say that Shriners will always be welcome in aa independant Quebec.
I hope the best for Montreal. |
