I was handed over by a Nurse Doody 84 Collins Ave and arranged by social worker/almoner of Coombe Hospital mareece Hannan. My mother could be Brigid and I could be Margaret O'Grady. Margaret Lynne was 19, worked as a Hotel Receptionist and came from a rural town in the South West of Ireland. Father was 22 and Car Salesman. Adopted through St Patrick's Guild.

| comments: | I, myself, had my first baby in St Patrick's home, Navan Rd,Dublin. The year 4/01/79 I was 18. I didn't give my baby up for adoption, but I have always remembered the girls that did. I was in St Patrick's for three months before giving birth and left on the 20th of Jan. At first with much presure I left my daughter behind and tried to start my life again, but I couldn't. I eventually left home (Limerick) and went to Dublin, got a job with a free flat and took my baby got when she was six weeks old. It was hard, I was young, inexperienced and alone. I kept in contact with one girl from the home who didn't keep her child. I moved away after a while and lost touch. I just found this site today, and it brought back so many memories. At times, I will admit, I did regret keeping my child, but as I got older I got stronger. I got married a few years later to a very abusive man, I had anothter child with him. I put up with the abuse for a time cause I was so afraid of been on my own again, and this time with two children. Eventually I left him, and never really started again. My daughter turned out to be a great girl. Went to college,and now lives in Germany. I still have regrets for my lost youth, but my main regret is getting pregnant when I was so young, and by a man I bearly know. I don't regret having my daughter. Does that make sense. Anyway, if I can be of help to anyone out there, that is looking to find out about their parent - please feel free to get in touch. |
