I remember going to my grandmother's funeral somewhere around 1950 or so and there seemed to be a endless procession to the grave site . I am new at this and not sure of where to start. Not sure if you are part of this Mills family but it's worth a try .

My dad is Arthur Junior Childress (some people have him listed as Arthur Baldwin Childress Jr) and my mother (his wife) is Catherine Louise Chenault Childress. My married name is Orr. I was married to Stanley sherman Reid(aka Reed) and have 4 living children and two deceased children. Due to the Catlet connection I think we are cousins. I have one living Uncle. His name is Marion Laster Childress and my uncle "Bill" (Willie Catlet Childress) died a few years ago.
I would love to get info on the Catlett's. Your cousin Cathie |

| Comments: | Hello,
We share some surnames, among them Arnold, Lawson, Shelton. I am searching for William “Buck” Lawson -- who traveled with James Shelton, b. 1791 Patrick, VA – and think William “Buck” Lawson must have been at or near the same age – they left VA and went to Tennessee -- first to Greene County, TN – stayed there only a short time – then to McMinn County TN. William “Buck” Lawson married Nancy Shelton, sister of James Shelton. James Shelton married Elizabeth “Betsy” Lawson, sister of William “Buck” Lawson. Many of he descendants of James Shelton – and we think William “Buck” Lawson -- ended up in Missouri – going there about the 1840 and traveling with a good many other VA and TN relatives and neighbors. I am wondering if there is a connection to your Lawsons. Any help at all is very much appreciated. Thank you, Shirley |

I have Knipe, Fast, and Meiley ancestors from Lancaster County, PA. We enjoyed a first-time visit to that beautiful place last spring; I can't wait to go back. I also have an ancestor John West (there were a FEW of them!) from Stafford County, VA. He left land in Prince William County to his sons. I am at a deadend with this line, would like some professional help so maybe I can present the family and maybe immigrant ancestor of John West to my 90-year-old father while he still lives. Can you recommend someone in the area? Thanks so much. |

Thanks for giving me your web site - I'll save to my favorites. I'm interested in researching my family tree as well - starting with my father's side & great grandfather- Mulloy now, but originally Molloy (accorlding to the 1900 Jefferson County, KY US Census) and Malloy (according to the 1890 census - there's no 1890 census). But his gravemarker says Patrick Mulloy, died July 28, 1901. aged 66, of County Galway, Ireland. Don't understand name change! I'll check out the links on your site and talk to you about where I can start researching locally sometime. |

| Comments: | I've enjoyed exploring your web site! We share ancestry from Abraham Shelly through Jacob Shelly. My family then descends through his son Joseph, staying in Bucks County, PA, until 1890 or so.
I recently attended the funeral of my uncle Warren L. Shelly, and the family gave me some papers of genealogical interest, including a letter from Miss Dorothy K. Landis asking my grandfather, Rev. Warren S. Shelly for information on his relatives. (I don't have a reply from him, but Miss Landis' letter provides a good deal of information on the Landis and Shelly families.) If you would like a photocopy, I would be happy to send one to you, as you refer to her work in your database. There is also a detailed typescript (unattributed) tracing the descendants of Abraham Shelly. It contains several hundred names, meticulously recorded but without any information on sources (!) I have yet to examine this document. I am planning to travel in the Lancaster area in about a month and would like to look up the DK Landis material. Is there any advice about the hours or access to the Lancaster Menn. Hist. Soc.? Are there other key documents I should consult in a limited period of time there? I see that we live in adjoinging counties. Perhaps we'll meet at some genealogical function! Thanks for sharing your research, Lee Irwin 7440 Timberock Rd. Falls Church, VA 22043 |

Discovered your site through Genealogy.com. I was backtracking Enoch Martin, father of John Wesley Martin who married Arthelia S. Wood, daughter of Harrison Wood and Sarah Blackwood. Sarah's parents were Thomas Blackwood and Mary Selby. I have read you Blackwood section with great interest. My father was John Wesley's grandson. Your references to Gooney Manor really caught my eye, as we used to swim and play in Gooney creek when we visited my uncle Walter Letcher Martin and aunt Mary Lake Martin. Sherry |

| Comments: | Karon, you've done an excellent job of presenting the Catlett information. The Cogan House description was a treat to find. (I descend from Sarah Hawkins/Ralph Rowzee) I am confused by the two Ralph Baldwin birthdates which don't agree, are they to be the same Ralph or different ones? On a sidenote, I did a little further research on the Cogan house which is now a Pizza Place and found a site on the net with wonderful pictures...
