//Fulton Oakes, Jr.

Regarding the note posted on 5/8: I had an uncle, Edward Henry Oakes. My grandfather was Henry Edward Oakes. I was once told that my great grandfather was Edward Henry Oakes. There is a small museum maintained in Digby County, NS, which was an old Oakes homestead. It has an internet site, but it is hard to Google up. A lot of the family is buried in St. Paul's church yard in Weymouth, NS.

I am the great great grandson of Joshua Kaulbach. Family lore says that my Great Grandfather Henry B Kaulbach was born in Liverpool England, but I tend to discount this teory. I cannot find a direct link from Texas, my home and HB's death place, to Lunenberg. Any help would be appreciated.

//Edward Henry Oakes

Not sure if I'm "part" of your clan. My father was named Henry Edward Oakes, his father Edward Henry, and so on. I've broken the chain in that I have no children. I believe, though by no means am I certain, that my father's ancestors came from Nova Scotia. My father died when I was quite young and I don't know much about him. He had a brother named Carl (or Karl) and a sister named Gertrude.

Aayway, I enjoyed looking through your site.

What a fabulous site! I came across it while searching for any connection to my grtx3 grandmother Elizabeth Eaton who married Dudley (Hill?) Colclough from Co Wexford,Ireland. Nothing came up with my Eaton but maybe someone reading this may have the same connection as myself.
Elizabeth's father John/James Eaton was legal counsel to Beauchamp Colclough (? an uncle of Dudley) They were married Feb 1809 @ Church of Ireland, Kildaven, Co Carlow and came to Quebec(Lower Canada), Canada in the 1820's.

Elizabeth Eaton & Dudley Colclough's 12th child Caroline 1833-1899 married 1863 Elzear Bouchard 1830-1909 @ Lac St Jean, Roberval. It was a mixed marriage - Caroline was Protestant and Elzear was Catholic. Their 3 oldest children born/baptized Catholic in Lac St Jean/Chicoutimi area became protestant once the family moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec in the early 1880's. Their 2 younger children had already been baptized at the French Presbyterian church in Chicoutimi.
Caroline Colclough & Elzear Bouchard's 3rd child Mary Agnes 1867-1954 was my grt grandmother. She married in 1890, Sherbrooke to James Honeyman 1860-1930. Many thanks,

How interesting! I have been tracking down ancestors, and have been wondering why Lebbeus Harris moved to Nova Scotia--besides the obvious beauty of the area. His daughter Elizabeth was married to David (or Daniel, I forget which) Godfrey in Nova Scotia, but gave birth to children in both Nova Scotia and Orange County, New York, where many of my ancestors settled. Were they Loyalists? Were they involved in a business venture? I'd love to know...

I was surprised to find this site. I am working on our family tree which includes many of the original Planters of Nova Scotia in the Falmouth, Hantsport area: Davison, Mitchner (various spellings) Barker, Churchill, Coalfleet.

There is a diary of Margaret Dickie Michener (wife of Simeon in the late 1840s) and she has left us with a remarkable memory and insight into the day to day social activities of the families in Hantsport at that time. I also have a number of diaries written by my grandmother Mary June Davison Mitchner (wife of Cyrus) I also have many photographs of the family in the late 1800s to the current day.

I can trace the family from the arrival of Abel Michener in 1759 to Newport Landing and the Mitchner Point area of Falmouth/Hantsport.

I was in Nova Scotia this summer to try to find history of my Great Grandfather who was born in Cornwallis in 1833. I found a land deed in Kentville showing his mother and father Thomas and Rebecca Langley had bought 16 acres (more or less) from Abraham Porter in October 1842. I have been unable to find anything else but I am trying all the links that I can find. I admire all those people who have persevered with their research. I hope to fly to Canada again next year for a further search. If I am unlucky in that I will still enjoy visiting Canada.

good website,

I'm Related to Joseph Morton who first married Elenor Blood, via both Abraham and Solomon Morton.One set of great grandparents were Solomon Morton Dakin and Alvira Eliza Cossaboom. Nobody seems to have very much information on Who Joseph's ancestors were. Some information I have that he was born in Massachusetts about 1746 to a Joseph Morton, born between 1720 and 1725, who drowned in Boston Harbor in 1760. Afterward, the younger Joseph moved to N.S., where he married Elenor.

I have come here and looked often, over the last few years. My oldest sister has the "book" of this. I was born after The Eatons of Nova Scotia was Published. I am the youngest of 6 girls, yes all girls! :) My mother is Evelyn Ruth, the daughter of Evelyn May Webb- Fedderman. Which makes my great- grand mother, Eva Ruth Eaton- Webb. During the World War II, my great-grand mother took care of my mother from infancy. Until the war ended, my mom stayed in the "Clan" home in Pugwash, Nova Scotia Canada. My mother also loved seeing her uncle Cyrus (Cyrus Stephen Eaton). Her grandmother, aunts, and her great uncle are fond memories that she told me about when I was a child,that she visited them in Canada and Cleveland, Ohio. I look at the pictures they are beautiful. I wish I could go back in time. Somehow, this fills a little spot in me..... Thank you!!!!! Anyone who knows more info or is a cousin of mine, etc., I would love to hear from you. Life is crazy, fast paced and has become so un-family oriented. I would love to get in touch or contact.
Sincerely,

Very nice site! Easy to navigate and search. I am a descendant of the Francis Hutchinson in your database, the one who m. Bathsheba Ruggles, by his second wife, Fanny Nixon. His grandson, Francis "Frank" Edgar Hutchinson, m. a Jane Harris, for whom I was looking in your data. She died in or near Morristown c. 1872 and Frank remarried, this time to Marilla Jane Wheelock. I would love to correspond with anyone who knows about this Jane Harris!

Yours is an excellent site, good information and easy to navigate. There is an error in the lineage of John Robblee, Loyalist, and his son Thomas, married Hannah Delap. Joseph is Thomas' younger brother, not his father. Contact me and I will send sources. Hope to hear from you soon.

Would this be the obituary for Mary D. (Parker) Eaton
'Word was received here on Sunday of the death of Mrs. EATON, mother of Fred L. EATON and Rev. Dr. Charles A. EATON. The death took place in New York and the Interment will be made in that city. The deceased at the time of her death was in the ninety-second year of her age. She was formerly a resident of Pugwash Junction, but moved to Amherst about twenty-seven years ago, when Rev. Dr. EATON was a student in our High School. She afterwards resided in Wolfville and Toronto. Her closing days were spent in New York. Her old friends in Cumberland will learn of her death with deep regret. (The Amherst Daily News - Monday, March 10, 1913)'

Hi Keith, Like your site. My line descends from Lucy Dunham Harmon's Brother Frank E. Harmon.
We have exchanged information before. I am still looking for Nancy Bean who married George Harmon Jan 4, 1840 in Otisfield or Naples Maine. Nancy was born on Feb 6 1822 and died in 1880. Nancy and George and some of the naples descendants are buried in the Naples (Maine) Village Cemetery. If you go to the index of our family tree and look for George Harmon you will find what we know of Lucy Dunham Harmon Eaton's pedigree.

Do you know of any connection to a George Spencer who went to New Zealand from Nova Scotia about 1867. He built the first scow in New Zealand from what he had seen on the great lakes of Canada. FAmily talk said they originally came from Boston Massachusetts to Nova Scotia. I see that there are some Spencers on your list.It is possible he was crew on a ship from Nova Scotia.
