My ggrt Grandfather was Edmund Davis b. 1824 suppose to be around the Lexington or Frankfort area. His father ?? and 3 of his uncles (his dad`s bro.) were getting thier lands ready and to be ready to harvest before thier wives and children were to come to IL Jasper,Crawford, and Lawrence counties at that time. Crawford co. IL Thier youngest bro Thomas Davis,unmarried at that time stayed with the women and children. Once thier lands were ready Tom helped move them onto thier land and then he moved to Tn(s.e.) to where they came thru going to his bro. took to IL He settled ther and became very well known for his Tn Walkers,,,business. He died after 1934.last heard from him late dec.or sometime in 1935.from my gramma. Edmund married in may 1844 in JAsper co.IL they bought land in Crawford co. and lived there and raised most of thier children there then in 1870 moved to Lawrence co.IL with thier 2 youngest Samuel 18 and Laura 14 the last I found them was in the 1880 fed. census.The last thing I have seen of Laura was when she married july 31,1881 in Bond to Harvey Nuttal Baldwin ,I haven`t seen anything of her or Samuel.. Samuel and John have been used in my Davis fam for 4 gen which includes mine ..my cuz born in 1956 in Barrington,IL to his dad(my dad`s bro)John Davis and Judy Hummell,Davis. |

My mother informed me she thought there were some girls born to them also. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching for information about my ancesters as well as pictures of them for a long while. I have tried the 1930 census, but can't seem to find any other sites for census for any other years that are free. most of them want to charge you nearly $200.00 a year; but what if you pay that and don't find the people you are searching for. If any one has the information I'm looking for and can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

| Comments: | I just came across this site and hopefully I will be able to get some information on my ancestors. I am researching the surnames Burger and Clem/Clemens/Clemmons. My gr-gr-grandfather, Peter Burger, married Catherine Hines in 1815 in Pulaski Co.,KY. Am not sure when and where they died or where they are buried...I think it is probably Pulaski Co., possibly in Somerset,KY. Another gr-gr-grandfather, Alfred Clem/Clemens/Clemmons has been a brick wall for me....I don't know where he was born, ?1815/1825, who his folks were, or where and when he died. Have been searching for him for 15+ years. I have lots of information on his wives and children...mostly in Boyle Co., KY. On three of his marriages, he spelled his last name as Clem/Clemens/Clemmons.
