Comments:Hi Katherine, I'm happy to know that you're safe. I do hope all your friends are alright too. A great city is lost and so many people with it. So many histories and history. It's very sad! Nature has beaten us again and when will we change from being arrogant to be able to listen to Her? I'm sure the city will rise again like Phoenix from the ashes, but I'm afraid it might look as ugly as Houston, TX. Let's hope the music will come back. I'm just really happy that I saw you in person in this dump (Los Angeles) before "Katrina" came over. Your VOLVO guy WOLFGANG

I understand that you will be doing a video page and that is pretty cool but again a gallery of photos sort of 'through the years' mode. Just a thought - and that is pretty good considering that i can go quite a while without a thought, good or bad. I'm sure that there are individuals out there who would be willing to contribute their photos from the various events that Katherine has been at. Okay, that there be it...............for now!!!! Peace and Love, Nora

Comments:Katherine, Just checking to see if you are alright, since the hurricane came to New Orleans. As always, we are bombarded with all the things WRONG happening down there now...in the aftermath, instead of focusing on things that are happening that are good. The good deeds, etc, etc... Yes, gov't was too slow to respond, and i am angry about that...there was no excuse for this since it was 2 days and we were airdropping water and things to people in the tsunami. But, as I hear this morning things are getting better...people are being evacuated finally. AMEN. Just hoping you are alright and you didnt lose too much. I know how you love the city. Sincerely, Rachel Hahn

Comments:You have told us many times how you love your city. Watching the distruction that has occurred is heart wrenching. There seems to be no way to stop it at the moment. The people of this city are of strong stock and I have faith that they will rebuild New Orleans. In the process, perhaps solutions to the problems that created this disastor will be found and employed. Nothing can be done about hurricanes that slam into the coastal areas. But no city should become a fishbowl. There must be a better way to deal with the fact that the city is below sea level. I can only pray that the distruction stops soon. And if your home has been affected, I hope that you can repair it. Hugs and quiet tears for you and all those affected by this hardest of all hurricanes, Katrina.

"hurrocan" which means evil spirits . . . so, i suppose the name is appropriate . . . but i also read tht the name "Katrina" means "pure" . . . so, maybe the two will cancel each other out. take care, Ms Katherine, wherever You may be . . . and prayers and hopes for protection are with all in this storms path tonight.

Comments:Hey Mrs. Fugate, I having been visiting your site for about a year now and find it very interesting. I love how you take the time to personally respond to everybody interested in speaking with you. That's really nice. Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 17. I was just hoping that you could please give me a definitive on if there will be a Xena movie and how far away you foresee its release to be. I grew up watching the Warrior Princess and Hercules and am confident that you could at least appease my curiosity for a while by telling me these things. If anyone knows it should be you. I am unable to find any other credible sources. Sincerely, Severin Witte P.S. Have you heard about the new planet they've found that may be called Xena???

Comments:I really loved When Fates Collide. It was my favorite episode on Xena. Ive heard the rumor that you might write Xena the movie. If there ever is a movie. It seems to be a circle yes there is going to be one,no there might not be one.No one wants to say one way or another for they might get us fans upset or excited.I think as a fan I will truly be upset to not see a movie but Im also afraid by the time there is one,our heroines might not be in it.I personally dont think I could watch a Xena movie with anyone other then Lucy Lawless as Xena or Renee O Connor as Gabrielle. That said I truly hope to see you write it if there is one.

Comments:Hi Katherine, I have not a question, but a comment. Since listening to you speak at the Seattle convention, I have been periodically perusing your website. For me, it would take great courage to be as open and to give as much of myself as you do of yourself. While I'm working on becomingn self-actuated, I'm not there yet. My worries about how others will/might perceive what I say still get in the way more often than not...though I'm getting better about that. As I read through both your "what's new" entries and your responses, I'm often touched by many of the philosophical things you've written. Some of it I even write down b/c it's something I want/need to ponder/learn/grok. Some of it I've heard my heart-brother Richard say during our conversations. Much of it, I feel like I already knew it, but needed someone to say it to remind me of what I already knew/know...if that makes any sense. Anyway, thank you for sharing your philosophy/beliefs about life, relationships, etc. Hugs to you for all you've given me and continue to give me.

Comments:A belated very Happy Birthday to you Katherine! I just read your posts as I've been in New Zealand for the past two weeks exploring the beauty that is the landscape. the people. the culture. I'm surprised to learn you came here and ever left. I'm here for another two weeks, having just completed my volunteer work on the North Island, I'm heading south toward Queenstown (in Lake Taupo at the moment). The sun was late to appear from behind the clouds but they've since moved on and it's turned out to be a beautiful morning. But anyhow, I'm glad to hear Renee's show went well, and I'm glad to hear there's been an addition to your life as well. You both beautiful people, your lights shining brightly, inspiring the rest of us, and you deserve the best this life has to offer. Well, it seems my time on the internet is about up, take care and I hope to catch up with you again soon. Kia ora, Kristen.

Comments:Ms Katherine, I've been listening to some Eva Cassidy cd's . . . and they are adventures in lyric and sound . . . Eva's delivery of a song transformed the familiar into the "unfamiliar" and made songs totally "new" . . . today i was listening to her "Live At Blues Alley" . . . and was just drawn into her rendering of "What A Wonderful World" (remember the Louis Armstrong version of this song?) . . . it is so evocative and emotionally involving now knowing how young Eva was when she passed away from cancer (shortly after this "live" album was first released in 1996). As such a brief flickering candle, Eva made our world so much more beautiful . .so she left it a "better' world than she found it . . . and Eva found the world "a wonderful world". ----- so, even with all of the news in these times . . . news of bombings amd terrorists and murders and violence, much of it which shakes our souls, i still can "see" Eva's vision of this world as "beautiful" . . . not just the trees and the leaves of green . . .not just the clouds in the sky . . . but, and especially the "people passing by" . . . for every dark soul meandering in its malice, there are countless numbers of "beautiful people" who's smiles spread "good" and "blessings" and peace and joy . . . and they can be found everywhere (without exception) and this "Katherine Fugate Site" is an oasis of "smile" in a sometimes unsmiling world . . . I never "met" Eva Cassidy (only in her recordings)but i'd bet she would have felt quite "at home" visiting this site and this message board . . . it is a "womderful world". :)

Comments:Hi Katherine - This is not a question but a thank you. I finally, after many forgetful moments, bought "Carolina" and watched it tonight. I was enthralled with the Shirley MacLaine character and of course, Carolina. Loved all of them and they seemed so real and lovable. It's not often that I watch a film and end up loving all of the characters...no matter how quirky. I made me laugh, made me cry, and made me very nostalgic. Although my Grandmothers were not quite the character yours was, my Norwegian grandmother had some very interesting stories to tell. I just want to thank you again for a wonderful story that warmed my heart and again, made me laugh and made me cry. It truly touched me deeply. I still don't understand why it was never released in the States...so many people missed seeing this film. I wish I could shout it from the rooftops for everyone to go out and buy the DVD...run do not walk to the nearest rental or DVD seller. Again, thank you and your heart was truly in this film. It showed so much feeling...much like "When Fates Collide". Thank you for enriching our lives! Marilyn

Comments:. . . and so now Ms katherine, would ya believe it: (leprechauns . . .myth or mere legend?) ---- they say that "leprechauns" - aka "the little people" sometimes come around to give ya a warnin' whenever the "banshee" might be plannin' to make an appearance . . . - and that one of the ways the leprechauns just might employ to warn us is that they emerge from out of the greenwood and commence to havin' a big "carryin'on" . . with music and singin' and dancin and drinkin . . . a big hulabaloo . . .and the after effects are an "olfactory odiferous odour which buckles the nose of the unwary traveller --- well, just the other day now, i was strollin' lackadaisically down Erie Bolevard here in Syracuse . . . mindin' me own business and payin no never-no-mind to much of anythin' --- and i noticed that it was stinkin' hot . . . and that the aromatic scents wafting about which were wifting me way were just plain "stinkin'! . . . so me thought to me'self: " must be the banshee lurkin' 'round about!" . . . so i turned and walked at a faster clip back towards the house . . .and in just the nick-o-time too . . .as i approached the house, lightning bagan to flash to me left . . and to me right . . and to me back . . . and a torrential deluge of rain-drops . . . needless to say i made it inside safe and sound and dry . . .now could it be that i owe it all to them "leprechauns" a-raisin' that "big stink"? . . . ahh 'tis true . . . 'tis true! . . . (or could it be that last sip o'ale at the pub now? . . . moral to the story: if ya smell what ya shouldn't oughta be a-smellin', turn heels and move . . . it might be the banshee . . . or a thunderstorm anyway at least . . either way . . .thank "the little people" fer the warnin'! ha! :)

Comments:Hi Katherine, I would just like to comment on how beautiful and poignant your writing is. You think as I do, that we are on Earth this one time and we need to make the most of it we can. Carpe Diem. Your morals and values are to be commended as well. I have learnt a lot simply perusing the pages of your website. Another part of my comment is just with reference to a response you made to someone dated 7 February, 2004, someone who didnt like the idea of subtext in the Xena movie. Your response moved me deeply and helped greatly in me understating and coming to terms with my sexuality and not being how I envisaged myself being five years ago. Your quest for spiritual content should never stop, however a soul of your spiritual calibre can't be far off. All the best in your life and writing (I'm studying Journalism also!) and thank you deeply, Matt.

Comments:Ms Katherine, i saw an interesting photo-story on one of the "24/7" news cable channels today: a man (an ex marine) had gained a lot of weight . . and decided to "walk it off" and "walk himslef back into shape" by trekking from Cali to New York! . . . well, at the time of the report, he was 400 miles into his pilgrimage (reminds me of a song i remember from back in the 60's -- "lord i'm one . .. ;ord i'm two . . lord i'm three . . lord i'm four . . .lord i'm 500 away from home!") . . . . it struck a chord with me because, while i'm not terribly overweight . . i can afford to lose a few . .well, okay . . a bit more than a few . . but i've been walking to improve my "breathing" . . . a touch of asthma . .and probably poor breath-control has become an aggravating obstacle to just "doing stuff" . . . so i have found that by gradually increasing the distance i walk . . i have improved a lot . . . (and even lost a few 'around the middle" pounds in the process . . . and what's more: you encounter soooooo many interesting people and things which you would normally overlook or miss altogether . . .even the wild-flowers growing in the most unliekely places alongside a road or boulevard . . in some ssidewalk crack or crevass . . . and people . . . just seeing them on their way to wherever . . . amazing . . . (and there i was "on my way to nowhere" but still going (George Harrison on his last album released postumously, had a song that said, "when you don't know where you're going, ANY ROAD will take you there" . . . well, i guess i am heading somewhere afterall . . . better breathing! ha! . . . and i'm aslo experiencing "the small" and "insignificant" . . . the discarded wrappers and bottles along the roadside . .the bugs and insects busy surviving . . .and people, at first blank expressioned but then smiling a smile as our vision meets and a "good day" exchanged . . . ahhh . . i AM headed somewhere . . .in the right direction . . . no road-signs needed . . . and it IS true, what George harrison sang, "ANY ROAD WILL TAKE ME THERE!" ( i wish that ex-marine luck on his way cross-country and to good health too!) ------ micahel g. batcho --- mcadoo, pa :)

Katherine on the "what's new" page suggestied that we drop our own ideas off here on the "ask katherine' page as to what she might include as she up-dates her web-site. ---- sooooooo i suggest she put back her photo "stairway to heaven" . . . maybe perhaps per-chance possibly "it could happen" the photo will mysteriously re-appear . . . Comments:Hi Katherine... We met oh-so-briefly after your wonderful words yesterday at the FIN meeting. Thank you again for sharing so much of you with so many of us. As I mentioned, with the help of random messenger angels who feel compelled to tell me that I'm selling my scripts, I'm now ready to get an agent. One who "gets it" about honoring a passion (theirs and mine). One who's inspired by writers...versus burdened by them. And one who's driven by a good story...not by what the latest thematic trend is in Hollywood. So far, with a little bit of Fate, magic and synchronicity, I've managed to have my first script optioned twice. My third feature is now in the hands of Jeff Bridges and Ashley Judd. And I'm now polishing up my fourth feature which should be ready in the next couple of weeks. So, I know it's going to happen...I'd just love to have any good recommendation from you for someone who just might help me make it happen that much sooner. Thanks again Katherine for your thoughts and your words last night. My best...Michelle

Comments:Dear Katherine, I had the privilege of being at that incredible FIN session yesterday, of which you were the heart and soul. All three of you writers on the panel were so generous in sharing your wealth of knowledge and feelings about your craft, the industry -- your lives. But YOU, I was madly trying to capture in notes just a fraction of your inspiring insights, such as "all people are magical" -- and now, happily, I've tuned into your amazing website, where I can get even more of you. Thank you! I was fascinated to learn that Barbara Eden is your aunt. I had the privilege of speaking with her once on the phone (we have a mutual friend, actor Austin Pendelton). We were trying to find a time in which she could perform with my company. I was the artistic director of Source Productions, New York, which produced events featuring accomplished, known actors such as Barbara Eden, performing material they loved but might not have the opportunity to do otherwise. Unfortunately, we weren't able to set a time or project, and I left Source, and directing, to become a playwright and screenwriter. May I appeal to the French and the sojourner in you? A top French producer loves a screenplay that I've written based on the life of an actual medieval French rogue and poet, but he challenges me to find just the right American director for it before he signs on. He implores me to keep my vision intact, and to keep it in English. Do you happen to know of any Francophile American director with an Indie spirit who would welcome the challenge of period/epic? Thank you again for yesterday. For everything you gave. For everything you are. Sue Flakes

London feeling the sharp-deep bite of human's gone awry into the mental madness of "terrorism" . . . baby tantrums thrown with devastating lethal consequences to innocent by-standers. Katherine, have you ever thought to write a book about Barbara Edens life and career? That would be so interesting! I know she wrote a autobiograohy in 1986 but it was never released. Maybe you should rewrite it and replace the next years. It would be a bestseller!!! You really should think about it and talk with Barbara about that. All my best, keep on the good work! I mean, the longer it waits, the harder it is to be able to use the same actors since they are getting older and involved in different things. Can you tell us, does it definetely bring Xena back? Permanently? Because, "Gabrielle, the Battling Bard" just doesn't have that same ring.

Comments:Hello Katherine, I just have a comment/question pertaining to Xena: Warrior Princess and the "impending" Xena movie. If getting a "Greenlight" for a Theatrical movie is too lengthy and troublesome, would making a series of 2-hour TV Movies be any less of a hassle? As was done with Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, the series started off with 5, 2-hour movies and THEN the series started. Well, there could just be a series of 2-hour Xena TV Movies to finish telling the saga of Xena and Gabrielle. They could be shown in WIDESCREEN and have awesome special effects as does alot of tv series these days. Just a thought. I didn't know if making TV Movies was any "easier" than getting a Theatrical production to come to fruition. Is it? or does it differ depending on the circumstances involved. Thanks for your time, Patrick from Texas

Comments:Ms Katherine, hey . . .the sun is shining today and it feels like a great comforatable summer day . . . a day that reminds me of "my childhood summers" . . . Thomas Wolfe said that "you can't go home again" . .and he was right about that . . . to a degree . . . you CAN catch little "lightning flash glimpses" of childhood and "home" from time to time, triggered by just about anything: a song, the smells from a kitchen as dinner cooks, a "nostalgia television syndicated re-run", or even a warm sunny summer day! i went out and bought myself a copy of a 1968 Joan Baez album (on cd now of course) called "David's Album" . . . i have this on an old vinyl lp from waaaaay back then . . but thought i'd get a pristine cd copy. wow . . was i glad that i did . . talk about "going home"! (Dory Previn once had a great song, "Mythical Kings and Iguanas/Going Home Is Such A Ride"-- that's a great album too! -- well, it IS a ride! . . . listening to this Joan Baez album recorded in Nashville back when "Nashville was county" carried me back to my home and family back in 1968/69 when i first plaed it. Joan sings, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "(I Am) A Poor Wayfaring Stranger" among many others . . . and i can remember stitting with my family and hearing these tracks when they were "new" . . .and which songs my mom wanted to hear over and over again . . and so now . . . so, in some small ways, you CAN go home again . . .if only for a little visit. (my next cd nostalgia pilgrimage is going to be "The Mamas And The Papas" (Gold) . . . every song i've ever loved by that talented quartet is on that cd) . . . and that will carry me back to "high school" and my days in Stamford Connecticut in the mid sixties. it won't be a trip "home" but, there were some smiles to be recalled from there and those years too. -- i hope that today's young people have as many "classic" memories and songs to be catalysts for their nostalgic re-visits when they find themselves years and decades "down the road". i'm certain that they will. ----------- michael g. batcho, mcadoo, pa

Comments:Nothing to ask, really, at the moment. Just a quick note to tell you that I was one of the people touched deeply by what you had to say in Seattle. I am learning to be joyful in my life and find great inspiration in your example, in your thoughtfulness, in your truth. I find it difficult to let go of hurts I've inflicted on loved ones, whether the hurt is real or perceived (for perception is reality) and what you said about choice and the lesson of impermanence struck a chord in me. As I write this note, I'm listening to k.d. lang sing Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', feeling a peace in the sound of her beautiful voice and his aching words, candlelight warming my soul. Thank you for listening to that voice inside that morning, for speaking your truth, for sharing your soul with us. Cheers! JennyB. PS - a link to some of my joy: www.bodaciousladyhood.com

Comments:First at all, sorry for my english, is not my native language. I just get here to USA a few month ago, from Cuba (go figure) and since I was living in that crazy country I couldn't see any america tv series at all. So, my point is I just saw the entire serie Xena, I'm not a crazy fan, but I love it! I have been reading in internet that you will be the writer of the Xena movie, and that is an wonderful new for me because I found When fates collides an excellent episode, is one of my favorites. I have no intentions to send a list of request for the movie, but I do want to say something: the reason why I like Xena so much is because the beautiful and incredible friendship and love story between the main characters. I even love the fact that is subtle, is a very poetic way of telling the story. I believe in the freedom to choose who you will love, no matter races, genders, ages. From my personal point of view, Xena and Gabrielle represent the most amazing characteristic of human race: their ability to love without barriers. I read sites that goes crazy with subtext issues, but for me there is no subtext in Xena... there is no need for subtext, for terms or definitions, gay, bi, les, hetero, we are all humans, we all love and died for love at least once in our lifetime. So, no matter how many homophobic comments you may receive, never give up!! Just remember there are a lot of people in this world that don't waste time beeing intolerant. Sorry for writing this much and Thanks!! Aimee

There are some family oriented programs still out there...especially comedies which would be great to see Renee guest star or be a permanent/repeat character in. Comments:Ms Katherine, i'm finally back at a computer and keyboard for the first time in nearly three months . . . so i had to drop by and check-out my favorite "cyber-bulletin board". --- actually, i got "on-line" and onto this site to attempt to restore my faith in people. ha! . . . in the recent months i've been experiencing the after-effects of people in "power" with their blow-fish brains wrecking havoc on the lives of good and kind people -- the arrogance of power. (actually the arrogance of "power-plays" and back-stabbing manipulation machinations. it is truly amazing to see the depths of malice which can possess and take the reins of power and influence and leave kind-hearted people crumbling in its wake. -- i'm not a neophyte . . . i wasn't born yesterday . . . and i've always been aware of and conscious of "corruption" and "deceit" . . .and i've found that, like a tsunami, one is defenseless to withsatnd and escape such scheming imps. -- i have been trying to talk to someone who has been just about destroyed emotionally, spiritually, and even physically by "higher-ups" who totally lack character and morals. . . that it is ALWAYS most important to rise above their malice and maintain his own dignity and charcter no matter how disparagingly they may unfairly hurl barbs at him (and it's not easy to tell someone to "fight back" by taking the high-road and to "be better than they" in one's own self. . . that the real victory and vindication lies within one's own ability to be at peace with one's self - it's hard when "lies" tear apart someone's image and self-esteem . . . but it is the ONLY real victory worth winning.) ------ i'll probably be unsuccessful in "getting through" to this person . . . and his hurt will probably eventually eat him apart, but i'm hopeful that "the night of the long-knives" of back-stabbing don't win the final victory and ruin the "hidden smile" of the soul of one person who's "kindness is mistaken for stupidity". ----- well, there ya go . . .this post probably will make little sense to you (or to anyone else who happens to read it) but i needed it to calm me down and recapture the peace which has become "troubled waters" as i watch someone's kind heart being trampled. . . being "helpless" is the most difficult aspect (and now i can once again "know" the meaning of that Crosby Stills & Nash & Young song, "Helpless") . . . but i still hold to the trust and belief and confidence that "evil" and "malice" will not ever long triumph . . . not in a universal arena . . . nor in the small individual life's experience. Rev Jesse Jackson was right when he said, "keep hope alive". ----------- thanks for letting me post this jabberwocky here . . . i feel a little better now. ha! :)

Comments:Hi Katherine, I don't have a question for you. Just some comments on your writing and your web site. I found the web site while Googling all things X:WP, and think your ep was the best of the entire series. I have recently re-committed my self to my writing, and am 'birthing' several stories now. I say birthing because the process has been slow and sometimes painful, but I think well worth it. I only mention this because I have been inspired to recommit by several sources, your web site being one of them. I wanted to say how much I appreciate the honesty I see in your web site writing. You bare so many emotions here, not just the joy, but the sorrow too. All for complete strangers who sometimes send back flames and sometimes send back love. And all with seeming patience, sincerity and optimism. In these war-torn times, it is a delight to behold. Thank you for all of your time and diligence. Thank you for your talent. And keep up the good work. Best wishes, Kim P.S. I just read the January entry, and am truly sorry about the events that transpired during that time. Take care.

Comments:Dear Katherine, I enjoy your work so much. My husband and I watched Carolina and loved it. As we were watching The Prince and Me, we would look at each other and say, "wow, that is a really good writer." I forgot that it was you. Now, of coarse, it makes total and perfect sense. And... then there is Xena. What can I say? Brilliant show, writers, cast, crew, producers and on and on. I truly believe that what really touches people about the show is/are the archetypal themes. So much about Xena and Gabrielle relate to Goddess themes. I believe the show gave people a dose of spirituality (unconditional love and the greater good) and not religion, while illustrating the difference between the two. (Also being able to demonstrate the inner struggle externally). Well, I have gone on enough. I sooooooooo miss that show! Be patient with me. I was reading through some of the comments that you made about production issues. So, does that mean that in fact it is a go for a Movie or am I getting my hopes up for 5 more years of wrangling? I am, however, sending many many positive vibes toward that project with yourself, Lucy, and Renee. I adore you all. I am also looking forward to your new projects, particularly the one with Gillian Anderson. Thank you for your patience with being asked yet again about the Xena Movie project. I know that there are certain things that you cannot say for legal reasons. If you could just give me a hint. There are a lot of us out here that don't quite understand the whole Hollywood inner workings and so on. Anyway, thank you for providing entertainment with heart, soul, and intelligence. Blessings on your journey.......C

Comments:You were awesome at the Seattle convention. Your personal story, courage, & outlook on life were inspiring. I especially liked what you said about believing in yourself and trusting yourself, despite inevitable criticism from others. Your comments on our choices and experiences in life were thought provoking. We could have listened to you for hours, and we’re fortunate that writing is what you’re supposed to be doing. I rode the elevator with you at one point but didn’t want to disturb you, so now I’d like to express how much I liked When Fates Collide. You gave the characters an intensity and depth that blew me away. The romantic elements were the most heartfelt, meaningful, and touching of the entire series, and the creative exploration of themes involving destiny & choices elevated the series to a new level of dramatic excellence. I’m looking forward to your upcoming projects.
