My late dad served in Malta for 6 years during WW2. He developed Parkinson's disease at around 40, about 11 or 12 yrs after being demobbed. His speciaalist told him it was damage caused to his nervous system as a result of his time in Malta. I believe my dad was a Gunner but did not want to talk about the war (only the lighthearted episodes such as having a laugh with his comrades) He never wanted to go away from home again. I will look through his photos to see what I can find.

I need to include some information that i cant find on the site such as;
• Is it a primary or secondary source?
• Where did this document come
from?
• When was this document produced?
• Who created the document?
• Who published the document?
• What do you know about the author
that would help explain the
document?
------------------------------------------------------
• Why does this document exist?
• Why did the author create this
document?
• Why is it in this form?
• Who is meant to see the document?
• Who is not meant to see the
document?
• What is the document saying?
• What is the document implying
without acutally saying it? What is
the subtext?
---------------------------------------------------------
• What does this document say about
the author, the time period, or the
situation in which it was created?
• What can you tell about any
controversy or differing view from
the document?
• What can you tell about the author's
perpsective from this document?
----------------------------------------------------------
I was wondering if you could help me answer these
thank you so much for your time

I am so happy to of found your website My father-in-law Emmanuel Bonello served in WW2 in Malta and would be amazed at this site. His uncle Edward Redman was head of the dry docks in Malta. During the war in which he served he kept a diary of which I have an extract of which has fitted in well with my family tree searching. His journalling of many war related happenings are heart wrenching but we are blessed to have this information. Thankyou for the effort you have put into this site.

Thank you so very much for this wonderful, and truly emotional site. I found it during my research for my family tree. I have been collecting family photos to post for the tree, and will be happy to share them with you.

My parents, both Maltese citizens, were young adults during WW11. They shared those experiences with me, and I feel as though I had lived through it myself.

My father worked for the RAF, 24 hours on duty and 24 hours off. On his time off he was a tailor. The Maltese did their very best to live as normal as possible. This meant that they cared about their appearance. People learned to make quick clothing and shoes, as many were caught in the bomb blast which would tear the clothes off. They used any fabric they could find, including parachute silk! I would very much like to hear from citizens that worked for or anyone whose relatives worked for the RAF.

Thank you again for keeping their memory alive, and honoring the Maltese people with this beautiful web site.

Hello there, I found this site 'by accident'. My late Grandfather, William Lawrence Morgan (previously 2nd Worcesters 1925-31)settled in Malta & married a local girl, Carmella Frendo. He served as a Warrant Officer II in 'B' Company, 1st KOMR during the siege. Despite the grave situation & his own thoughts, he convinced his family that victory would come. My Mother, Kathleen was only 7 years old when the siege began & it left an indelible mark on her life. She told me how hungry she was, the terrifying scream of the Stukas, dead horses in the road. Then the joy of seeing the Spitfires, the 'blessed' OHIO, & waiting in line to look at the George Cross. I thank God that she & my loved ones survived. My Great Uncle, Francesco Frendo also served as a Sergeant with the KOMR. Thank you for remembering the many unsung heroes of Malta who faced everything & would not give way. Your site reflects great credit on you.
