Joe Norton here, Uss Talbot county 1153 I do remember a friend that went off the prier in a car and couldn't get out of it. It was a mail delivery which we all had to do back then. I was there and actually saw him trying to kick the windows out but couldn't do to the pressure, To this day I still see him looking in my eyes. Believe me I was going to jump in and was grabbed from behind by a fellow shipmate. I was screaming but they wouldn't let a 18 year old go. About two hour when by and the crane pulled the car up and he was in it, They wouldn't let me see! To this day I'm really really mad about it. But I was just kid.. Thank you Russ for letting me remember this. It was in 63, I remember the day was hot. alot is a blur now. the name Cornelius rings a bell but thats all I have. I wish I can tell you more. | Comments: | I served on the "T C" in 1966 and 1967, carmody was the skipper when i got on, nellis was the x o, then lcdr turner took over in late `66. i was an electrician`s mate, i`ll never forget how hot it was down in the forward engineroom, especially down south around panama.i still have fond memories of panama, especially the "blue goose".
