| Comments: | I was TDY with the C Company 2nd Bn/5th Cav 1st Cav Div Jan and Feb 1970.(if I remember the unit correctly) I am looking for people who remember me. Like others that for years tried to forget. I am now trying to remember some of the details. I went from Huey to Huey as a Door Gunner replacement until the assign man showed up. I did this for about two months. I called the M60 Machine Gun "The Prince of Death".
heres my writing on this piece of equipment. The Prince of Death 1st Cavalry Division Shortly after Christmas 1969, I was a Door Gunner on a Huey. I had in my hands what I called the “Prince of Death”. It had both a sense of beauty and a twisted ugliness about it. The M60 Machine Gun was on its mount before me. It was inert, sleeping and only I could bring this one back to life. I stepped closer I wanted to look into its mouth, to see what the enemy had seen in his last moments. To imagine its 60 caliber teeth coming for you and how terrifying it must have been. I wanted to know all of my enemies; I wanted to be the one to survive, to go home when my time had come. I saw how it had and could kill. Without any thought it had reached out and claimed its victims. It didn't care who the victim was, only that the enemy had been careless and gotten too close. The M60 Machine Gun had been designed to kill and it would claim the enemy it could find. The enemy could feel the bullets coming before they could see it. Its fire power was big enough to rip a man apart. When I pulled the trigger its flame could spit up to six feet. At night I could see the tracer rounds looking for its victims. Its roar was not loud but it was terrifying. It had a medium mournful sound like the ghost of Hell coming for you and leaving a trail to show others where the Prince had been. I'm sure that death happened so fast that the enemy did not have time to think. Was there time even to be terrified? I think not. Certainly there was no time to react but only to scream from the pain. The only evidence that was left by the M60 Machine Gun was the enemy laying on the ground. Some trees had sucked the rounds that had missed its mark. The lifeless bodies of the enemy cannot shoot back because the "Prince of Death" had done its deed. The North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong have tried many times to silent my M60 Machine Gun but the Huey took the bullets that were meant for me. For about two months the Prince of Death and I would become one when I sat in that seat of death. Any longer I may not have survived to write this. Written by Carl L. Anderton Sr. |

| Comments: | Ma'am,
God bless your father and your family for what what he did and also for what you have had to endure since your father made the ultimate sacrifice. I also served with the 1/4 Cav in Vietnam during 1967-1968. I was a Scout Helicopter pilot with the 1/4 Cav's D troop, called Darkhorse. I take comfort from knowing that I can always find the 1/4 Cav's fallen troopers at the "Wall" as well as in my heart. God bless and keep you always, Frank Barolet - Another Vietnam Veteran |

| Comments: | I didn't know you Father, but I new many like him. I now am 60, and I think of Viet Nam everyday.I was a young 18 year old Marine when I arrived in VN. I was in a Tank Unit where we suffered 27% KIA and 85% WIA. We will never out run our memories. I have a Daughter and Son who I Love without conditions, they are 30 and 35 with Families. I was so touched by your website, I can tell you long for your Father. Sometimes understanding is hard to come by. I can tell you this. All of us were young, tough, determined, and ableto do our jobs, and we did. We did it for Our Country (like our Dads)and our Families. I thought of your Dad today, and I mourn his Death, for he was my Brother, and we watched after each other as best we could. Why, was your Dad chosen, and not one of us others, I ask that everyday of my life, and feel very guilty to have survived. I was blown up in a Tank, and later shot, but I survived and it is not anything I understand. Be very Proud of your Dad, as I know you are. Also be at rest for all of us are with him daily, as he is with us. My very best to you and your Family. Respectfully Tony

I served with A Troop from 7/68-7/69 and have been a member of the association form it's start, but for some reason have never read your father's letter until today. He sound like he would have made you a wonderful father and certainly was a credit to his unit and country. Reading the letters and seeing all of the places your dad went, brought back many memories from a long time ago. I am sorry you never had the chance to meet him, I am sure he is watching you and wishes he had known you also. My best to you and your family. Bob Lazzari A Troop |

| Comments: | I just foundout about The Run For The Wall 2 weeks ago and I am going to participate in the 2006.
I was in the Navy from August 4, 1969 until June 3, 1975. I never saw action while I was in the service. My ship and crew mates were caught in the Mid-East Crisis for 45 days. I have had the honor of visiting the Viet Nam Wall Memorial once, during company business took me to Washington, DC for a weeklong tradeshow. On the finale day I was in DC I had 4 hours to wait for my flight back to my home in Orange County. A co-worker knew I was a Vet and asked if I had every visited the Viet Nam Wall Memorial, I said, "No' so that's where he took me. The first sight I remember was of the 3 bronze soliders, which brought instant tears to my eyes. Then, as I continued walking I started to see the wall and again more tears continued to fall. As I walked the length the tears flowed freely. I then saw items left behind at the wall for fallen comrades by family, loved ones and comrades who had served along side of these fallen hero's. All the while I walked the wall the tears seemed endless. Seeing the wall first hand, all the names on the wall, knowing each one gave the ultimate sacrafice, their lives, at a much too young age, in a time when our country was divided about being in the war, made me angry we joined the war and these solider's had died. What compounded the pain and sorrow was our nation, at the time, didn't acknowledge these fallen brothers and sister's as war hero's I am hopefuly, during my next year's ride that between Reno, NV [my starting point], registering for the RFTW in Ontario, CA on May 17 by the time it ends on May 27 at the Viet Nam Wall Memorial on Memorial Day some of my pain, shame and hurting will have started to be healed and I can assist other Vet's feeling the same or similiar who didn't serve in any combat during the Viet Nam war. I wish you and your family comfort, peace and love and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Marvin S. Baker B87-42-97 |

| Comments: | My heart felt empty today. I paged through some Vietnam Memorial pages and found your memorial page to your father Adrian Sigler. I cried today... for the lost love of a little girl who misses her father, his love and his hugs. Here are some thoughts I wrote for "a little girl" I know...
"Now feel my warm embrace, like when I held you close, and hear me say, How I still love you and miss you so... When we are together again, that will be one sweet day! My Little Angel, I always loved her more than she will ever know. I now watch over you from heaven, each day I send you all my heart's love, This I do every night when the stars shine from above. The tears from my Little Angel, they still touch me more than you know, Remember me always, and give praise to Him from whom all blessings flow. I hear your nightly prayers and thank Him for the time together we had, the light shining from heaven is a smile for you, sent with a Father's love... always, your loving Dad" Sweet dreams.... |

I did not sever myself but my uncle severed two tours and is a Vietnam veteran and right now my brother is in Iraq and I pray for his safe return along with the rest of our men & women of a armed services. When I ride my bike I wear a vest with a pow/mia patch with the saying I may not have been there but it does not me I don’t care. I have also build a custom sissy bar which has a bayonet made in it with the pow/mia badges on it to show my support. I hope to make the trip with the folks of RFTW this year , and I feel that I am luck to live in a country where so may take it for granted. |

I cry still for my childhood friends in Ft. Bragg. When the principal came to class...and took your friend away...you knew...and you cried...and inside you were so glad it wasn't your Dad...and then you felt so guilty. I am doing a documentary on the price of war...on how the word "veteran" isn't just about the mean and women whose lives were lost==but about the children...the spouses...the other "veterans" who no one sees or hears. If you know of other people who live in Georgia and lost their fathers as children I would love to get in touch with them and tell their stories. Thank you for your sacrifice. Dodie Cantrell |

It is because of this sacrifice that our world is a better place and our nation is the greatest the world has ever known. |

He certainly was proud to serve his country and he displayed his flag proudly. We miss him as I know you miss your loved one to. God Bless our country and God Bless the USA!

| Comments: | I am wanting to address the Vietnam Veterans at this year's event.
I would like to participate in the RFTW and am working on that issue. I want to APOLOGIZE to the rest of the Vietnam Era Veterans for having participated in Project 112/SHAD. While I did NOT Volunteer for this idiotic and illegal passage, it has weighed on my mind for THREE DECADES and only recently was it de-classified, I was held under pain of Federal Prison from speaking about it. I'd also like the Project 112/SHAD Veterans brought "back in the fold, as we've been CHEATED of our participation in any recognition, medical care, or disability claims due to Robert Mcnamara's CRIMINALLY INSANE project which endangered over 10,000 unsuspecting U.S. Servicemen from 1962 to 1973!!! PS: I say invite John Ketchup Kerry to address the crowd. And, when his campaign denies....let HIM explain why this War Zero can't face YOU....!!! J.B. Stone, USN 1967-1970, ETN-2 Human Test Rat, Project SHAD USS Granville S. Hall, YAG-40, 1969 Member, VVA 406-862-7514, 406-862-8739, 760-949-2252 http://www.freedominion.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14556&sid=7ae7f751d1f26e0cba6c87b2a4549ff6 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ProjectShad/ ~~~~~ While I am in NO way an "official" spokesman for the Project 112/SHAD Veterans, I have been very active in attempting to bring the TRUTH of the U.S. Bio-Chemical Warfare Test Program to the American Public. I would ALSO like the opportunity to speak to the gathering in interest of FINDING more shipmates and participants from other branches of the Military. The DOD & VA have blockaded our attempts to locate one another. I thought perhaps with your interest in the POW-MIA issue, which is also very important to me, you might be willing to assist me in freeing the patriotic Americans who have been held in THIS country for over 30 years as political prisoners....pressured into silence with threats of Federal Prison and a deeply classified and hidden ILLEGAL program...??? I think I could get some OTHER SHAD Veterans to attend, if we could have just five minutes at the podium...!!!! Here is an indication of what I have done so far: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22j.b.+stone%22%2C+project+shad&btnG=Google+Search http://www.freedominion.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19279&highlight=rolling+thunder&sid=afed13005af417d3cea22c7a47967457 Speaking for myself, I NEED this closure. I'd like to be able to walk up to Vietnam Era Veterans with a smile and not have to dodge the question, "Where were you???" |

| Comments: | Very well done. Your Dad would be proud of your efforts to tell others about his sacrifice. There are many stories on that black granite wall in D.C., and you have told one of them with the dignity and honor he so well deserved. Countless reporters and journalists have attempted to tell the stories of those lost, but only those who have missed the warm touch of a loved one can ever begin to tell the real story of how we paint that wall of freedom. |

My father was a crew member on your uncles plane shot down on Oct. 8 1943. I have two letters from your grandmother Mrs. Alma H. Sigler written to my mother in 1945. Not all the crew members of the Flak Happy were killed. My father T/Sgt David Sweeney and at least two others survived the crash and stalag 17b to make it home. I have some of my fathers letters and letters of some of the crew members families wrote to my mother during the war. If you are interested in learning more about this please let me know.

| Comments: | Honoring your Father the way you have here with so much love is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. While serving in Vietnam as an 0311 " Rifleman" with the 2nd Bn/1st Mar/Div in 1968 I took an AK-47 round in my left leg during a search and destoy. Within minutes I was wounded again by an incoming mortar round.
I promised God that day I would spend the rest of my life giving life back instead of taking it if He would allow me to live. For what ever reason He may have had I am still here. I was 17 years old at the time and I am now 53. I have tried every since to keep my promise by serving and giving to others as Jesus said we are to do. With all that has happened to me then, and since, I am very blessed. I am Blessed because I was allowed to live when so many others were taken. Blessed because I got to raise my children and I have a wonderful daughter that sounds a lot like you. To her there is nothing and no body like her Daddy. She got kicked out of high school for taking up for Vietnam veterans, she said they teach lies and bad mouth vietnam veterans. I may not know much in this life, but I can assure you of one thing without a doubt. Your daddy is very pround of his little girl sweetheart. God Bless you and keep you always. |
