I've been a fan for awhile, but just watched Dangerous Beauty and I realized that what they were instructing Veronica (Catherine McCormack) to do - appear as if the man she's looking at is the only one in the world- is exactly what is so magical about the way Rufus looks at the camera and makes me feel - so naturally, I'm completely head-over-heels! The chemistry he had on screen with Catherine was so palpable, it literaly made my heart ache - I guess in a good way - for hours afterwards. I think he is one of the most expressive and talented actors out there and I hope to see more! Rufus - there might be a *slight* resemblence to Joaquin Phoenix, and he's handsome and talented, too, sure - but he doesn't make my heart skip...several beats. I love this man. I've followed his films and he is one of the most verstile actors I've ever seen. He should be very happy with himself. He made Tristan+Isolde as good a movie as it is. It would be just another hollywood cop out but he made it a work of art. His monologue near the end made me feel like I was being yelled at and not just the character who really deserved it. He plays a badest of bad villain and a heartwarming, and fully genuine good guy. I really hope he reads this. I want him to know what his career in film and television has meant to me. | |

How many of you know that Kenneth Branaghs Hamlet is now out on a 2 disc set? the reason I mention that is because alot of people may forget that Rufus plays the role of a Prince in that movie a small role and one of his earlier roles but worth the seeing also it has a whole host of great actors including Derek Jacobi,Julie Christie,Billy Crystal and the late Jack Lemmon so worth the watching,I most certaintly recommend it and also because Rufus is there in one his great earlier roles have a nice day Angie! | |

I hope this message will find Sir Rufus and Mr. Sewell. I have yet to see a better presence on the screen as performed in the roles of the villian. I always know I will be entertained when Mr. Sewell plays the bad guy. I'm sure he is capable of much more. I hope that he won't get painted into a corner in his career. However, he is the best at this aspect of acting I've ever seen.In my life I doubt I will see another. I've read Mr. Sewell's profile. His concern about being viewed as someone he is not is valid. Mr. Sewell is very convincing. I too am good at what I do...I was not able to avoid the painted corner. Mr. Sewell's profile is refreshing in terms of attempting to remain sensative to these issues. I just watched The Taming of the Shrew (about 4 or 5 times)on DVD and I was blown away. The dynamic between Shirley Henderson and Rufus Sewell was brilliant and the subtlety, underlying warmth and pathos both of them brought to the screen took the story beyond the hysterically funny to deeply endearing psychological profiles. It made me want to know them both (the characters as well as the actors themselves. Exceptional actors who deserve enormous success. | |
