Common Sense [h]
How would you feel if you were forced pregnated every year spending your pregnancies in a cramped stall, just so your urine can be collected and used in premarin, then having your babies taken away and killed. http://www.peta.org/Living/at-spring2000/prem.html " What’s Wrong With Premarin? To produce Premarin and its sister drugs (Prempro, Premphase and Prempak-C), tens of thousands of pregnant mares are confined to tiny stalls for six months at a stretch. Some “lucky” mares receive exercise every few weeks; others don’t see daylight for months. Farmers are even encouraged to limit horses’ drinking water so that their urine will yield more concentrated estrogens, a practice that can cause mares to suffer from kidney and liver problems. Within days of giving birth, the mares are reimpregnated; many go through this harrowing cycle for more than 20 years. " Premarin which is used for menopause is made from the urine of abused pregnant horses "...imagine spending their pregnancies in a cramped stall, then having their babies taken away and killed—exactly what mares on PMU farms endure year after year..." certain women's magazines. I am soooo happy to have found this site....i really need some other horsewomen to talk to .... i am 17 years old and i just bought a 10 thousand dollar quarter horse baby he is 6 months old, i have been with him since the day he was born and i have completely bonded with him, hes my life....and the day after i brought him home he jumped the fence and he cut his tummy from right between his front legs almost to his boy parts and eveything was hanging out...and i have a wonderful vet that put him all back together but also told me he may not make it i am trying to decide if i want to put him down or not but everytime i think ok this is it, he looks up at me with those big brown eyes and i just cant do it, when he hears my voice he neighs and my heart just sinks.....i need some advice from some other women that may have been in this postion before....he is not in pain i dont think but he is just pitiful, he cant get up by himself and he cant stand very long... i ahve done everything i know how to keep him comfortable and i just need some adivice....thanx a million [email]

Hello, I am a mum of two boys and two horses whom I love dearly. As I am a student at university I am writing my dissertation on horse attachements to humans and studyong the gender difference. Why do you think women are more attached to horses than men, yet men dominate the higher rankings of horse spot Please let me know your comments, who knows I may change the world.!!!! Carol

Hi, Just wanted to say that it is great that women who love their horses, that we can network with those who have found the same in their life. My husband left me, on my birthday, I was in a cast, recovering from my 3rd arm surgery. The only thing that got me through, was my horse. Jasper. He is an ex racehorse that was rescued from a killer auction, then donated where, through volunteering, we found each other. I have to say that the women/horse bond can be amazing, and it's something that no one can break! I have now found Jasper 3 more resued horse buddies, and we are all very, very happy!! I have decided now, to only take the horses no one will adopt from the same rescue and give these horses no one wanted a nice home to live out the rest of their life, in love and happiness... I put the past waaaayyyy behind me... Cheers! Christine [email]

I just found this website and just had say what a treat it is! I will pass it on to all my horsey friends as this kind of site is "the perfect fit" so to speak. I too have read books like "The Tao of Equus" and "She Flies Without Wings" and I currently work with a trainer who works with horses based on their language and way of communicating in a herd. Wow, what a wonderful journey it is continuing to be for me and my horses (I won't say how many, just know that I am a bleeding heart...grin) I want to recommend a saddle maker to you. His name is David Genedick (I hope I spelled that right). His website is called aboutthehorse.com. He custom makes his trees as well as his saddles. I have a custom made saddle of his and they not only put the rider in the correct "seat" but they fit your horse (he has you actually map out your horse's back to ensure this). I have met this man at, you guessed it, a saddle fitting clinic, and he truly cares about the horse's comfort as well as the rider's. He does differentiate between men and women's saddles. Check his site out and kudos to you for having such an exceptional site yourself!!!!! Patricia [email]

Hey Anna - what an attractive and also, it would seem, very useful web site. You and your designer (if it is not you) are to be congratulated. Hope this really takes off. It sure seems a lot better for the soul than the U of Idaho! Oh yes - and I like the film strip at the top! [email]
