Not only am I proud to bear the family name of my father, but I also share what I do for a living with my him. He and I both are railroad conductors employed with CSX Transportation. My story is a little bit different then the rest. I was born January 23rd 1967. I was put up for adoption about a year later, but this is still unsure. My mother was 16 years old when I was born, she had problems with drugs from what i understand. She had a realtionship with a black man, being my bio father. When I was given up for adoption, I was never told what my real name was, but my adopted mother has told me that the shoes I was wearing had a name on them of "Danny Joe Keith" could also be "Denny"! Does anyone know of a female Keith that may have been born around the area of 1951 ish probably 57 years old. Are you out there still? I also was told there maybe two or three other children out there by the same mother. She was caucasian. I have green eyes probably from her. I turned out good, good life et al! who had JAMES MONROE KEETH B: 1851, Mississippi who had ARTHUR MONROE KEETH B: 1877, Texas who had EDGAR JULIAN KEETH B: 1915, California Edgar Julian is my grandfather. I have a lot of info on Edgar Julian and his brothers and their children. I am trying to see where the line goes up from ASA. Of course, I have them all listed as KEETH, because the records were conflicting on them. I believe ASA always used Keith, but I am not sure. James used both Keeth and Keith. Do you have any information to help? I know this site is dedicated to Keith spelling, but at some point our original spelling ws Keith. | Comments: | I have been exchanging information with others. It was noted that I had an error in a Keith name. On page #156 of the Keith Book is 'F' John M. -- it was brought to my attention that this 'M' should be a 'W'. I went to Ancestry.com and looked up the 1850 Census where the name was spelled Keath. In checking the middle initial, I compared it with the daughter Mary's first letter. Then on down, I compared that with the 'W' on William. I agree that the middle initial is actually a 'W' instead of an 'M'. So his name would be John W. Keith. Would someone check and see if I am now correct. Love the Keith Book and could not have proceeded without it. |

| Comments: | Hi there my g-granny Burns was the daughter of Nick Keith s/o Barry Moore "coon" Keith of Texas. She was the oldest of many kids and married three times. All three husbands died of gun shot wounds, all three shelf inflicted. She stayed in Texas for many years moving on to New Mexico. She had a very hard life, when she was young she had to help with all of the younger kids, then the harsh life in New Mexico until she was moved to California. Her name was Edna Evelyn Keith my granny was her only daughter Evelyn Louise Bogart Collins. My grannies brother Charles Bogart lived in Arkansas until his death a few years back. I was told my g-granny only wanted the two kids because she was done helping raise so many kids. I spent a lot of time with her we shared the same birthstone and I was her oldest great grandkid. She loved to play games and was a lunch lady for an a local indian school in New Mexico. I never meet her last husband Alexander Burns who raised my granny and her brother, from what I have heard he was very sick and took his own life out on the front steps of the families NM home. My g-granny lived on into the late 80's and was a wonderful lady. If anyone has any information to share with me about this clan of Keiths please do. I do not know much about them, I was to young to think to ask g-granny anything and I was just getting started looking into their genealogy when my granny passed last Jan. I only got some information and found some. I have an article from a Nm newspaper about the harsh times that my g-granny went through with a picture of her re-sealing her log cabin. Would love to know if there are any pictures anyone mught have to share also. I do not have one picture of her side of they family or for that matter any Keith. My grandparents went through a flood here in California in the 80's that left them with very little of anything after. I am researching my ancestor, Black John Skirving who was Standard Bearer to Keith, Earl Marischall of Scotland. My ancestor was wounded at the Battle of Flodden but survived. He hid the Keith Standard ( Banderole)around his body. He was taken prisoner by the English for several years and then released to return to his family at Plewlandhill near Haddington Scotland. The family presented the Standard in 1808 to the Advocates Library In Edinburgh by William Skirving and can be seen there today. I wonder if anyone would know where the Scottish prisoners were sen after the Battle. I have a photograph of the Standard. 3 Stags and the Motto Verias Vincit. Another of my Ancestors Adam Skirving wrote the Poem. " Hey Johnnie Cope" for the Battle of Prestonpans insulting the English General John Cope from Robert Skirving Hoskins. |

Greetings from Leeds in Yorkshire . I am attempting to carry out some research in to Field Marshall James Francis Edward Keith ( D 1757 at Hochstadt during the 7 years war in Central Europe ) I find the story of the dispossesed Jacobites and their subsequent lives the stuff of potentail historical novels . I wonder can any one advise me of the fate of Alexander and Duncan Mertens/Keith after their Mother was exiled from the court of Frederick the Great ? I have Sam Coulls' book ' Nothing but my Sword ' which is just great ( get it from Amazon Folks its really very good ) . I did have a reply from a kind lady in Sweden last year who is a descendent ... sadly lost all details when my hard drive crashed .... should she read this , please get in touch as I am about to start my research to write the novel about the Prussian and Swedish branch of the family .... sorry I am not a Keith in blood , boy I wish it so -0 then again I can trace my Yorkshire roots back to the English Civil war .... so there is some history here too ! James Keith born 1727 in Kincardineshire, Scotland. It's said that he participated in the Jacobite uprising. He was held prisoner from April 1746 till Feb 1747 when he was transported from Liverpool to Port North Potomac, Maryland. Leaving Liverpool on May 5, 1747 and arriving in maryland on Aug. 5, 1747.
