Comments: I also had Charles Stackhouse as my POW person and still have the bracelet with his name on it packed away! Is this the same one you had??? I read in the paper when he was released, that he got married shortly afterwards. His fiancé was on crutches I believe during the wedding for some injury. I wrote a letter but never received a reply. I thought at the time that maybe he didnt want to answer due to the trauma from being held prisoner by Vietnam. I was maybe 13 when I got his name. I had also found faith in God at that time and prayed fervently for his safe return. I always wanted to meet him. If he is the same Charles Stackhouse, I would love to write to him. Do you know if there was more than one? I would appreciate your feedback on this. I just decided to google his name after seeing the name Stackhouse online and remembering my POW guy! grandfather and fought in the Revolutionary War. He is on my mother's side who is Diane Dibble (maiden name) Leaman. I am trying to go back as far as possible with my family tree because all the children in my mothers line are girls. Dibble has become

Comments: As I watched CBS news last night I saw a story about a woman that has worn a POW braclet for 40 years and now has placed it in the
casket of that POW whose remains have been found. I searched the internet again one last time for our POW Charles Stackhouse
caputred April 24 1967. I found him and his address. After much thought I called the number and we spoke. I told him that my
husband Gary had worn his braclet for 10 years and that he was in our prayers daily. He was humbled and honored. What a great man
and hero he is. I am sending him the braclet and was glad we were finally able to thanks for your service, which sounded pretty
lame as he was a POW in Vietnam for 6 years. Wow, what a great feeling it was to speak to him and know our prayers were answered.

Comments: My husband and I got our POW bracelets in the 1960's. Mine was for Lt. Charles Stackhouse. I still have it and was recently showing it to my grandsons and telling them the stories. The Vietnam Memorial gives me an extremely strange feeling everytime I go there. I have visited it in snow, heat, middle of the night, it always gives me a very deep feeling. It's hard to explain. Thank you to Commander Stackhouse and his family and for all you did for this country in it's time of need. Just know that a total stranger prayed for your safe return to your family and the USA. Bracelet with Lt. Charles Stackhouse 4-25-67 on it. I remember when I was a child I asked her where this bracelet came from. She told me

I wish I could say that I share your ancestor, and indeed I am only two generations removed from a Pittsburgh McKinney family, but "my" William S. McKinney was a mid-nineteenth century transplant born in Troy, New York. I have no knowledge of his ancestry but very much doubt that there was a Pennsylvania connection prior to his moving to Pittsburgh from the Cincinnati, OH, area in his youth. Comments: A part of my job was to extract men from the tiger cages across the line. Our last attempt was aborted as Hanoi Jane and the fraud who ran for Pres, sold out our mission. We were sold out several times, but the last was the worst, because we were going in to get 12 men. Those who tried to take us were the drug lords and their CIA masters so our missions would disappear. It took us 12 days to get back to the South. Our unit was pulled from action and sent to play and train the "Flips." Our record showed we returned 14 men over a two tour period. We were stopped because the powers that be wanted out of the way.

Comments: I was drawn to the site by the story of Peter and Mary McKinney. What was so odd was that my ancestors came from County Donegal in 1820-1822 and eventually settled on a sizeable piece of land where Turtle Creek meets the Monongahela River, near Pittsburgh. That piece of land, historically, is Braddock's Field. Across the river from them was the Kenny family, for whom Kennywood Park at Pittsburgh takes its name. Was it coincidence these families and two or three other McKinneys located so close to the land your Peter was married on? Or is there a chance they knew each other or were related to each other back in Ireland. We'll probably never know.

Comments: I have been raising "Cats/Felines", for over 40 years, and they are/were very dear to me. Most of my "Companions", came/come from Maine, i.e. "Main Coon Cats". It troubles me deeply when I loose one. I live in the Woods of Monroe CT, and regularly take walks in the Woods behind me, with them- BUT never on a leash, they stay by my side, and come when I call them.

I have made cat doors/"Portals" in my front and rear windows, so that they may come and go as they please, (24/7), and with my automatic food feeders, I am able to 'disappear' to Maine for ten days at a time and go 'inner-tubeing', when I return- they are in the yard, or I just 'whistle', my whistle for them to come, which they always do. I wanted to share this story
with you, and sign your guest book. I had a hard time getting to your Web Site, but it is
very nice and a tribute to your "Companions", please contact me soon........

I'm originally from Ohio, Warren, Youngstown, area, actual place, Kinsman. I also went to nursing school in Texas, University of El Paso to be exact. Graduated in 1987, went back to Ohio to work @ St Elizabeths in Youngstown, got bored, ended up in Connecticut for a while, worked on a busy Ortho floor, didn't really know what I was doing, scared stiff of all that traction stuff, went to Icu, back to medsurg, did some travel nursing, went back to Texas, Austin this time, worked on an infectious disease floor, yccht! Back to medsurg, in New Hampshire at this time. Falling in love with orthopedics!

Joined NAON, plan to get certified @ sometime, working on my Masters in Clinical Leadership. If I end back up in Ohio, I'll have to look you up. Thanks for the great site!
