I've just solved one of the nagging mysteries of my Taub family. My great-grandfather Jacob arrived at Ellis Island in 1902 and was met by a brother, but I could never quite make out his name on the ship's manifest -- it sort of looked like "Grad". I just decided to do a search on all male Taubs that arrived prior to 1902 from Lemberg and up popped "Fsael" which, when written in script, looks a lot like "Grad". Apparently Fsael was himself met by a sister named Sara when he arrived. So if there's anyone out there that is related to a Fsael Taub from Lemberg who arrived at Ellis Island in 1900 and has a sister Sara and a brother Jacob, I'd love to hear from you!

It feels great to solve a piece of the puzzle... only to create a few new pieces!

As a result of making my first entry on your website in August 2001, the number of names on my family tree has grown from a paltry 30 or so to around 300! We have one Taub, who married into the Katz side of my family. Her name was Regina Taub. She was born in 1875+/-, and married Solomon(Shulem)Katz. They were living in Petrila,Romania in 1913, when their daughter,Berta was born. Our family lost contact with the relatives who stayed in Romania, after 1938, and we don't know what became of this family.
