It is a very rainy stormy day here in Eugene - we really hardly have any rain, but today we are getting it! Jim is in southeast Alaska doing the final research on his book, Chris has a basketball game tonight, Seth is becoming quite a computer guy, and Anya starts her new job with the bank tomorrow at the corporate offices. I subbed yesterday at the high school, but no calls today so I am going to try and clean the house (what fun!) and make chcolate chip cookies to send with Chris for the team! Thanksgiving Day was nice here and we took a couple long walks with Randy and Sally King who came down from Mt Rainier. The kids were more into watching football! On Friday morning Sally and I went to the Holiday Market - lots of great craftspeople had booths. Chris' first basketball game is next Friday so we'll be traveling to Salem for that. Our yard is filled with leaves - we could rake every day and not keep up. It's amazing how many leaves this one tree has! We haven't had a frost at all, there are a few roses still blooming next door. You've really been making great progress Anna - I'm sure it is a lot of hard work. We're always cheering you on. You seem to be keeping very busy with all your different activities. I hope you are not working too hard and that things continue to get better for you. We sure miss you around here. I flew to Portland last week for the wedding of Nathan and Olivia. It was a lot of fun and everything went well. It was great fun visiting all the family I had not seen in a long time. One of the best times was on the last day when we went to Jeff's house where he made us a fantastic breakfast of eggs benedict. Katie was gone, but we did see her the night of the wedding. All in all, a really fun weekend. Melanie, Carter, Scotty and I are leaving tomorrow to visit Muz and Jack in Mexico. We will be gone for 10 hot, blissful days of sun and swimming. aNNIE mACK Sunday, October 24th 2004 - 03:01:17 PM Hi Anna, The sun is breaking through and the red leaves are falling. The Presidential election ads are coming fast and furious. I'm counting on a big win for Kerry/Edwards. The Boston Red Sox just led the way for the Kerry win!! Jim is back in Ohio visiting his mom and brothers. I've been having fun subbing. Just got back from Chris' basketball game (fall league) - he sprained an ankle - darn! He has the worst luck with his ankles! His football team won on Friday night, too - he even got a quarterback sack and some other tackles so he was happy. Boy, was it muddy though! I had to wash his uniform twice to try and get it clean - it was brown with mud! Anya is volunteering at Peace Health today in the OT Dept. Sure glad to hear things are going smoothly right now. I broke my wrist in August, but now I have the cast off and am starting to play chords on the piano once again. During the month in a cast I thought of you every day..how you're so good with one hand, arm, teeth, how gracefully strong you are. Bonnie is back in Sitka for the winter. I played music with Ellie and her mom, as her parents are visiting a while. They're in their new house! We had an early Thanksgiving dinner. Annie Mack Sunday, August 29th 2004 - 10:04:16 PM Hi Anna, ell, we leave Gustavus on Wedn - I can't believe that the summer is over! The kids start school here tomorrow. We just had a big Harvest dinner at our house - food had to be grown, caught or gathered. You should have seen the pies! Kate made a crabapple pie from the apples in her yard.Lena just came yesterday so she was here, too. There were blueberry pies and cakes, a nagoonberry torte, zucchini cake, etc. plus deer and halibut and vegies and smoked salmon. Yum!!
