| Please tell me what your DIRECT LINE is. : | I decend from Elijah Taylor who my family says was the father of my great great grandfather Toliver Taylor of Anderson Sc. Everyone on Ancestry says that Toliver was the son of George Taylor the brother of the President. Toliver was born in 1822 in Charleston SC. There is a memorial on Finda Grave or just on the stone on the regular web that tells what is said about George/Toliver. But I have a letter from my Aunt Jessie Stout Toliver's granddaughter that tells that Elijah Taylor born 1798 in Charleston was the father of Toliver. She tells about Toliver being killed in the battle of Franklin Ten in the civil war etc. But George was supposed to be married to Mary Ann Campbell who was born in 1800 and Elijah was supposed to be married to a Mary Ann LEverett. Toliver was 6 years old when George died in Louisville Ky but ofcourse he was not living there. He has a sister named Sarah but I do not think she was with Mary Ann Campbell either. Someone said there are records of her living in Ky. I wonder if the two Mary Ann's are the same person. Toliver married a Anna McAllister whose mother was a Campbell infact her name was Mary. But I think that Mary Ann Campbell came to Charleston and then to Anderson. I doubt that she ever married George infact the Filson in Louisville says that George was never married. I think that Elijah and Mary Ann reared Toliver and he adopted him or just called him his son. I have copies of my aunt's letter and of Elijah's will and for that matter Toliver's will and a law suit after his death. If you are interested in this I will gladly send them to you . | Please tell me what your DIRECT LINE is. : | I decend from Martha Ellen taylor 1854-1953 Her father was Toliver Taylor 1798-1844 He died in the battle of Franklin Tenn He lived with his wife in Anderson S, C, her name was Ann McAlister His father was Elijah Taylor who was born in 1798 in S. Carolina I do not know when he died his wife was Mary Leverett 1779-1802. This information was handed down to me by my aunt who was Toliver's granddaughter. Martha Ellen also told me about living in Anderson on plantation her family owned. But the confusion comes in on who Elijah really was. He was supposed to be a first cousin of Zachary taylor (that is in my letter) but everyone on ancestry says that Toliver Taylor was a son of George Taylor the brother of Zachary Taylor. I have written to people in Louisville that say they do not think that George left that area. He was deformed when a tree fell on him when he was young. Besides why would my aunt make this up. ? Mary leverett's father was William Leverett of Abbeyville N. C. the accounts of Toliver say that he lived in Abbeyville and they also say he went to Ireland to be married no I found where they were married in Abbeyville. Ihad someone from Anderson help me find these details and more and he feels this is the true account of who Elijah is but we cannot figure out when he died or who his parantage was. There was a William Taylor in Anderson and a David Taylor that owned some plantations but I cannot find out anymore about them. Thank you Sallie Hood HELP |

Also found where she had married Alex Taylor and he filed for divorce because she had been seen with her ex. John W. Brown. | Please tell me what your DIRECT LINE is. : | I use William Sr and William Jr to differentiate between father and son. They were probably not used by the family. William Taylor Sr, son of Isaac Taylor and Isabell Wilson, married Elisabeth Wilson. At about the same time Andrew Taylor, William's brother, married Elisabeth's sister Anne Wilson. It has been a long held family story, long before I discovered these links, that William Sr and a brother traded wives. Well, records show that Andrew did in fact marry Elisabeth Wilson later in life. They had a child named Nathaniel Taylor who become an Army General and is head of the Tennessee Taylor (Alf and Bob) clan. It was also a long held family story, again long before I discovered these links, that William and Nathaniel were half brothers. Here is what I think happened. William Sr and Elisabeth were married about the same time Andrew and Anne were married. I believe that William Sr and Elisabeth had a son who they named William Jr. For some reason both William and Elizabeth and Andrew and Anne split-up. I think there was a good chance William was having an affair with Anne and they got caught. If the family story is true, William and Anne then married and later Andrew and Elisabeth married. Andrew and Elisabeth's son, Nathaniel, would then be a maternal half-brother to William Sr and Elisabeth's son, William Jr. That little family affair might explain why there are few records of William Sr and his son William Jr and why they are not mentioned in Isaac's will. In fact, William Sr died at en early age, perhaps he was killed by Andrew when he got caught messing with Anne (just speculation). I think that both William Sr and Anne were kicked out of the family and they went their separate way. They kept William Jr and when William Sr died for whatever reason, Anne moved on with William Jr. William Jr of course is my ggg grandfather.
