Thank you for sharing information regarding the family bible of David Glaze and Susannah Norman. The guestbook may only be read periodically, which may be why a reply is not yet logged. The bible is, indeed, a treasured part of faith and history. You may wish to email the family administrator of this site, lznash@bellsouth.net, to see if preservation recommendations can be provided. Also, a book of this age may only stay preserved if it could be left with professional archivists, such as a library, university collection, or genealogical society. They are trained in the preservation and repair of old documents and books. Until such time, possibly purchasing acid-free papers or a storage box or protective sheets in which to store the bible may be the best option. (These are available in good photography, camera, or scrapbooking stores; anything that will preserve the fragile papers.) How wonderful it would be for others to be able to view it. Thank you, again, for sharing information on this special bible.

Comments: I hold the family bible of David Glaze, the one that is pictured on the Norman Family site. It was left to my son Patrick Fitzgerald Rox by his great aunts Marie and Ruth Norman. I have visited this site before, and I am still asking the same question: What can I do to preserve the bible? It was in bad shape when we inherited it, and it is deteriorating even more. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I use a home computer nowadays to help me communicate. My software consultant provides support when I need a way to have my thoughts channeled into properly written communications for you.

Waste not, want not!

I have met my second cousin, with whom I have a very special bond.

My life has not been normal and I am very nervous right now.

But I am available between sessions for contact. So please see me on Facebook is where you can find me.

Is there to be a reunion?

Comments:Hi!
Following the female line of my family I arrive at Susannah Norman, b1780, daughter of William Norman in seven generations. My Great Grandmother Harriet Mary McDaniel, daughter of Julia Hawes, daughter of Susannah Harriet Glaze, daughter of Susannah Norman, moved to Florida about 1905 due to my Grandmother Blanche Jeanette Lawson's asthma and we are still bogged down here. (Luckily sisters & kids have managed to escape to the deep south and we manage to visit them a lot.)
My mother, Barbara Bernice Cross, b1930, has wonderful memories of visiting the McDaniels & Hawes in Columbia and Raleigh years ago, but we lived abroad for five years in the 60s and have not reconnected.
In reading the military history of William Norman we believe that he would have fought in the battles in and around Princeton, NJ before being wounded at Brandywine. And so, he would have walked up the creek that went along my sister's homestead there. (You will be glad to know she quickly relocated to South Carolina and is much happier now that she can feel at home at church and ribs & grits are to be had.) Is there a family expert who could discuss, confirm or disprove our assumption?
The generosity of our distant cousins in posting the ancestry, stories and pictures of the family is something I will always value and appreciate. Thank you so very much.
Mary Jeanette

I'm researching my own family tree, and came across yours on rootsweb. I am a Norman living in Ontario Canada. My descendants of the Norman line came from Nova Scotia Canada, and then from England. William Norman of England then to Nova Scotia. Maybe far back to England we are related :)
Anyways, just wanted to sign your guestbook, and let you know that the Norman's settled in Nova Scotia as well.
Take care,

Comments:Wonderful website! Wonderful project! Keep up the great work!

As we dodge snow on a daily basis way to north here in Wisconsin, we send our best wishes for a New Year to all the Norman and Thompson family members!

A while back as I looked through the Normans of Normandy Hall, I noticed Thomas Harrison Norman was married to Katherine Augusta Thompson, daughter of my great-great grandfather, Dr. Edmund Russell Thompson, of New London. The book has been a blessing and I've learned much about my Thompson roots through it. Thank you Lois Norman! The biggest joy was then going on to locate a photograph of Mildred C. Thompson's resting place at the cemetery in New London. She was an adventurer given the long path taken from Virginia to Tennessee and then to Arkansas in the mid-1800's.

God bless and keep writing!

And have a very Happy New Year! We all need one!

John K. Thompson, Jr.

Lois Norman used this bible when researching her book, The Normans of Normandy Hall. The bible contains a section on colored births that might be helpful for others searching for their ancestry. I would like to share this info, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Please advise if interested.
