| Comments: | Hi again,
I sent a message from Graves of Tasmania web site and then found the Hallam family site. What a great effort and so much great information but when I found my father no. 362 Arthur John Dunkerley his birthdate was incorrect and there is a photo of someone else next to his name! Would you like me to send a proper photo and update the information of his descendants? Regards, Marilyn Herrod |

I read your site with great interest, particularly the page for St.John Evangeline Anglican church at Plenty, you don't have my g.g.g.grandfather or g.g.g.grandmother on your list. My g.g.g.grandfather George Ransley who was a well known smuggler in Kent England was buried in this church ground on 29-10-1856 ( 153 years ago in two days time ) and his wife Elizabeth was buried there on 1-1-1859. I have just been able to get these records from the Archives, as there are no remaining headstones. Could you be able to add these two to your list please....thank you .....you have done a great job |

| Comments: | The photograph you have included for your entry of prisoner William Forster is a photograph of a 22 year old prisoner called Charles Brown (alias Wm Forster) which was taken by T J Nevin at the Hobart Gaol in January 1874 when Brown aka Forster surrendered himself. Your records show the date 1874 as the date of the photograph, of a convict which according to your records was 50 yrs old in 1856, therefore the photograph should be of a man aged 68 in 1874. The photograph however shows a young man barely into his twenties. |

| Comments: | I have just been reading part of your site - Rural Offences 1873-1890 by Laurie Moody and there is mention of a James Upton in the Campbell Street Gaol and mention also of a bdm record of a James George Upton marrying Jane Shepherd. James George did marry Jane Shepherd but he was born in 1832 in Surrey and arrived in Tasmania with his brothers Wm and Charles Jones in 1842- he became a grocer so I don't think the info mentioned in your article refers to James George Upton |

| Comments: | Just Googling my ancestor 'Joseph Griffin O'Briens Bridge' where he died and came across your Graves of Tasmania. I was wondering how you came by your information such as his cause of death as it differs to the death register which has him as a yeoman dying of disease of the brain. Yours says gentleman and liver complaint. I don't know which is worse! Anyway my cousin recently had a plaque put on his grave as it was difficult to read in it's worn down state.
Perhaps you found it impossible to read as his name doesn't appear on the map. She found his grave towards the back of the churchyard. |

| Comments: | In reference to comments made by Kerry Williams re. DOWNES; Charles. The information I placed in the article 'Died in Custody' is exactly as it appears in the 1873-90 Campbell Street Gaol gate-book. If it is incorrect then that is unfortunate. I only provided the contents of the gate-book so that an important part of Tasmanian history is not lost. I am not responsible for any mistakes that may appear. |

| Comments: | Your entry for Charles Downes, per Rodney 2, who died in custody, isn't correct. The Tasmania Reports of Crime (Police weekly gazettes) for 1872 recorded his death in that year - 1872. He was convicted originally for rape, and in 1871 convicted again in Hobart for larceny, and sentenced for 3 months on 29 August 1871. He was photographed therefore before his death in 1872. There is a photo of him at the Archives Office of Tas by Thomas Nevin, and one at the National Library of Australia with his name misspelt as DAWNES, and the date of photo as 1874 which is impossible as he was already dead. |

| Comments: | We notice you have two entries in the name index for NEVIN. The two entries are for the same person, William John Nevin (1851-1891?), known as Jack. You have his correct age of 24 ca 1877: he arrived on the Fairlie 1852 aged ca. 6 months, babe in arms. So in 1891 he would have been 40 yrs old, not 43.And we have yet to confirm his death date. Would you kindly check the source record provided by Mr Stilwell, SLTas - i.e. MB2/98.
He has provided this info: Thomas Nevin was born on 28 August 1842 near Belfast, Northern Ireland (Mrs S). He was the son of Private John Nevin and Mary his wife whom he accompanied on the convict ship Fairlie which arrived at Hobart Town in July 1852. John who was one of the guards of this vessel was also accompanied by his other children Mary A. and Rebecca both under fourteen and Will[iam] J under a year old (MB2/98). Can you photograph the pages you are copying from - the original documents - and email them as jpgs? We would like to see your original sources. |

| Comments: | Hi , Found your site researching my great grandfather sheep stealing convict Angus Mackay (MACKAY). thank you. He is buried in the municiple cemetary in Westbury.
His Wife Sarah Jane Hall is also buried there. I am the grand daughter of his daughter Sarah who`s married name was Crocker. Angus finished his days in the Deloraine District where his skills in animal medicine were renowned. He had died long before my birth but his love of animals contiues to course in the veins of myself and my brother. Cheers jen tjedding1@bigpond.com |

| Comments: | I am currently adding the FISHER Family to my web site and I had Elizabeth Ann FISHER marrying Richard James LUCAS 12 Jun 1867 in Hobart.
Since then I came across your wonderful web site which says Elizabeth married William HAWKINS 15 Sep 1862 in Hobart. If this is correct would you know which Elizabeth FISHER married Richard LUCAS? I think you may be correct as Elizabeth's sister Selina Josephine also married a HAWKINS. I would appreciate any leads as to who the other Elizabeth FISHER was. Sincerely Gary |
