I was searching for Private Andrew Woods of the 96th Regiment stationed on Norfolk Island in the 1840's. I have seen his baby son's, James, grave on a recent trip to Norfolk Island. I found out that Andrew's wife's name was Sarah and that they stayed on Norfolk Island for a further 8 years before returning to Sydney, NSW but from there I have no idea of where they went. Your article states that no one was killed in this accident. This is incorrect; the fireman on the locomotive which capsized and one of the train's passengers fell into the Derwent and drowned. Full details can be found on page 10 of the Tasmanian Mail, 24 July 1886 and, no doubt, in the Mercury about that date. Cheers Dennis |

Yesterday I could not access this site - but it's back now - thank you. I have ancestors (Corney) buried at both Kensington Burial Ground and St Paul's - are they one and the same place? The date of one death(transcribed in 1988) matched an inscription found in St Paul's but listed by you as Kensington. The maps you give are also St Paul's for both and Kensington is mentioned, but with no explanation, in the St Paul's Church book. I see that the last burial at KBG seems to be 1880 and the first at SP 1881. No one in the area seems to know anything at all about Kensington Chapel and Burial Grounds - grrrrr. By the way - great site. |

We know that you are coming in via favorites. Don't be fooled you can be traced. For your information. "The Three Hundred and forty-nine cell maximum security men's prison at Risdon was occupied at the end of November 1960". Women remained at Campbell St Gaol until 1963.No Warder had any access to records at Risdon Prison, nor were they able to remove them from the premises.Get your facts straight the Gate Book from the "Hobart Gaol"that held records of prisoners was mostly destroyed by fire. A lot of hard work and dedication from Laurie Moody was put into restoring and researching. So if you wish to continue to critizise us. Have the guts to let us know who you really are, we don't need to "bulk" anything up as you say. We can trace you anyway we just want to see if you are man enough to say who you really are and not hide behind a computer screen, we have ways and so do the Federal Police don't forget we have all of your comments on our Dreambook. It is people like Pam Hill who is not in fact who she/he claims to be.Try to make people doubt that what we three ordinary hard working people try to do for the benefit of the genuine ones that are interested in genealogy. Mr Moody is in fact a gentleman and his input into our web page has made it a great success, obviously she/he has an axe to grind. I remember seeing a TV program about this site, and that one of you - was it Laurie (?) - worked as a prison warden, which explains now why everyone who was ever born, married or died in Tasmania appears in your prison records - Laurie thinks the best place for everyone is JAIL!!!! You are not real genealogists. You started off with your own families, and with some old documents which Laurie "borrowed" from the Risdon prison, and now you are creating a whole lot of confusion by bulking up a few records with bits and pieces copied from other people's research and a whole lot of other unverified statements. Shame on you! No one should believe what they find on your site. |

| Comments: | While checking another person, I came across a William Grundy under the heading 'rural offences' for the Gordon District. It mentions that there is no BDM for this person.
He is my great uncle. William Grundy born 24 February 1862 South Bruny, the son of John William Grundy and Mary Lloyd. William Grundy died 15 July 1935 at Mentone Beach, Victoria. I have extensively researched the Grundy/Lloyd families for over 30 years. Hope this helps fill in a gap for you. Regards, Kaye Smith |

| Comments: | I would like to pass on a message to Laurie Moody regarding a Joseph Page - Rural Offenses Pt 6.Franklin. There may be some confusion with the names. My ancestor Joseph William Page was mentioned [married to Sarah Riseley] correct. This JW Page arrived in VDL aboard the Hyderabad 2 or 3 in about 1851, as a free person, said to have worked his passage. He first married in 1852 to Annie Margaret Hepburn, a fellow passenger. Her step father was a Convict warder aboard. JW Page was born in London in 1826. I am wondering if you have any further details which may either distinguish the 2 people or confirm they are one and the same?
