I like the ending as is, Blane and Andie belong together! As an 80s chick, I saw it when it first came out, then bought it a few years ago and watch it about once a month. I always get butterflies at the end when Blane tells Andy he loves her, then leaves and she runs after him. I can quote the dialogue in that scene almost verbatim! | Comments: | i first watched 'pretty in pink' when i was 7, i was addicted with the first watch. after searching for the soundtrack for years, i finallt tracked it down 3 years ago, i love it. it used to make me really sad when andie left with blain, i always wanted to duckie to get the girl, but now i think she chose the right guy, least she can have both of them in her life, whereas if she went with duckie, she would lose blain completely, as they weren't friends before. i think andie's character is great, i really admire her. i was devastated when iona changed her look for the sake of a guy, i thought she looked fab! its great how blain likes andie for who she is, but it annoys me how he allows steph to manipulate him, just because he likes her himself. steph and benny are so well suited. |

Being from "the other side of the tracks" in Chicago, I was able to relate to the character's desire to be part of the "in crowd." I first seen "Pretty in Pink" when I was like 13 years old (now I'm 20) and from that first time watching, I fell in love with Duckie!! Jon Cryer did an excellent job playing him. The whole Otis Redding "Try a Little Tenderness" song and dance is just Great! He put all he had into that part of the movie and it turned out Awesome and totally Hilarious! DUCKIE ROCKS!! Like so many others, I think Andie should've picked the Duck, I sure would have. Even though Blane was so dreamy-eyed and all, Duckie really liked her. That being said it's a great story. | Comments: | This weekend, I watched Pretty in Pink again for the first time in ten years. Then I watched it twice more. I was mesmorized. It's always been a kick-ass movie but it was different seeing it through adult eyes. I didn't know that the original ending was supposed to find Andie and Duckie together. When I was younger, I think I might have prefered it. But now, to my surprise, I have found a new appreciation for Blane and for their relationship. It's great to see that the complexity of these characters, the subject matter and the music are timeless - even the tortured villan - that lovable jerk Steff. Thanks for giving me so much more inside info! |

| Comments: | I was 12 when I first watched Pretty in Pink and have watched it dozens of times since then (I am now 28) and it never gets old or boring - I only wish the same could be said about me :) Everytime I watch it I think, surely I must have grown out of teen romances by now, but after about 5 minutes I am a teenager again, crying at all the soppy bits and thoroughly enjoying this fantastic movie. Thanks for this great site. I really like the story section where you give summaries of scenes that were in the screenplay, but don't appear in the film. It's interesting to imagine what the movie would have been like if they had kept those scenes in. I love Andie and think she is a great role model. She is feminine and caring, but also strong and dignified. I really wanted to be her when I was growing up. I even learned to sew and started making my own clothes. Faye |

All Andy said was "I've never been hang gliding" I found it interesting that he cut her (friends) down like that and it went unnoticed by Andy who's character had ample self respect. If you were wondering on some updates on these excellent cast members, here goes...Molly Ringwald was in Not Another Teen Movie a couple years ago...just a camio, but GREAT APPEREANCE. She's also is in some foreign movie it sounds like. Not sure, lol...Andrew McCarthy is in Stephen King's "Kingdom Hospital", which should be starting sometime in the next few weeks. James Spader (Stef) I recently saw on "The Practice". I also heard that Jon Cryer is/was in some TV show called "Two and a Half Men", I don't know how well it went or is going...I've never heard of it to be completely honest...but hopefully it'll go better than his other TV show "Partners"...I used to have a big crush on him, lol. :) I'm hooked on these movies though. I really think they need to have a big brat pack reunion...get the all back together.
