Who manages it and how do you give access to people. I got to it from IBEW Minuteman. I am using your stewards manual currently and I anm also reviewing your contracts. We are in negotiations today and tomorrow.

Even though I'm not with IBEW now (originally, I joined the labor movement via IBEW at WMAR-TV in Baltimore), the information I've read on various subjects can be used within my own union. | Comments: | I am President of Local 134L, Unit 15, United Steelworkers. We are an amalgamated Union with about 22 different Units. Our Unit has 90 employees.I bought the book "The Cyberunion Handbook" and I can see how creating our own web-site would be a tremendous help, especially considering we are close to entering into contract negotiations. I am not too computer savy but some of my members are and I intend to enlist their help in determining if it is feasible to start our own site. Because we are in an amalgamated Union, we don't control our dues money and we would have to get funding from Local 134L. For that reason we would not be able to do it if it will be too costly. |

| Comments: | On February 10, 2004, we had a walk through of outsourcing company that we planning to bid our jobs. Our local business manager was supposed to be in attendance. At one o'clock p.m., the outsourcing companies paraded through our department and we were expected to sell them our jobs. At 4:30 p.m., I left the office for the day, feeling like no one cared because my business manager hadn't shown up and didn't call. No moral support, no nothing. Thanks, Mike. | Comments: | The Bush administration is the worst thing to happen to working people since the sweatshops of the 20s and 30s.
Under his leadership, millions of Americans could loose their eligibility for overtime pay and millions more may be forced to accept comp time (currently illegal) instead of being paid for overtime. Mandated 50 and 60-hour workweeks could become the norm. On his watch, the unemployment rate has peaked at its highest point in twenty years. Millions of our countrymen are currently unemployed; some have been out of work for as long as 3 years. The Republican agenda for working people has never been more exposed and as obvious as it is today. Is it any surprise that American workers are being exploited more now than at any time in recent history considering that W. is the first MBA in the White House? It is particularly frustrating that some of our union brothers including some union representatives insist on voting for Republicans. I must presume that these misguided union members have forgotten that the benefits and high standard of living that they enjoy today were paid for with blood and sacrifice during the formative years of organized labor. I don’t believe that voting preference should be used as a litmus test for union loyalty, but, with our benefits and standard of living so clearly under attack, we can not continue to vote into office the very people who seek to minimize our benefits and reduce our standard of living.
