I’m searching for a small handful of new ladies who are seriously interested in a sincere and long-lasting friendship including many long, chatty and personal snail mail letters. I’ve been penpalling for almost 12 years and naturally, I’ve had many different experiences with all kinds of penpals, therefore I really know what I’m looking for in a good penpal and what not. I’d love my pals to become my real and close friends, like some of my girls already are to me. Well, how do I define the term “friend”? To me it’s someone I can share everything with; my daily life, my hobbies, my experiences, my dreams, my sorrows and everything else that moves me in a positive or negative way. Of course, I want to learn everything about you and your life as well and become a part of your life, just like friends do. I love writing and receiving personal and long letters, letters that truly reveal something about the person behind the mask we sometimes have to hide behind in the “real world”. I enjoy deep and meaningful conversations, but at the same time it’s also important to me to share a good laugh with my penpals and to not write about sad and serious things only - I think a good mix of everything is what makes a friendship work. : ) Another fact I really care about is tolerance and acceptance of each other. I’m not interested in getting in touch with superficial and judgemental people who are only searching for a penpal with a fairy tale life, with no own opinion, with an ordinary life and who is just like everybody else. That’s not me. I will be different from most people you know and if you’re fine with that, you’ll find a sincere, honest and loyal friend in me. I don’t care who you are, how you live your life or if you have a complicated background – everyone is welcome to me as long as you accept me for who I am as well. : ) I’m a very open-minded person, thus I enjoy meeting different kinds of people with different stories and backgrounds. To me it’s interesting to share experiences since it often leads to a good friendship after discovering similarities. To tell you something about me, I’m a 23-year-old girl from Germany and I will be a university student soon. Music is my true love and I’m a passionate letter writer, furthermore I’m into videogames, languages, foreign countries, anything related to the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette and shows like “Grey’s Anatomy”, “LOST” and Co. I spend much time with my pets and I like to read. As a child, I always dreamt about becoming a novelist, and a teacher of mine recently told me that she believes I could do it after reading a short story of mine, so maybe I will start writing my own stories again, who knows. ; ) By the way, identical interests aren’t important to me, the main point is that there’s this certain “click”. Yes, I am talking to YOU! Would you maybe be interested in being my new pen pal and friend? I can see you do not quite know how to reply to this, so I will give you a couple of clues as to what you have to expect when you say "yes, let's write!" So here are some random facts about me: - Age is just a number.....I get on well with babies, great-grandparents and everything in between, so feel free to reply also if you do not happen to be my age - which is 25! - I tend to act on impulse and although you will not have the benefit of it (do I see a look of relief crossing your face?) when we are snail mailing ("impulse" and "snail" do not go very well together, do they?), it might happen that you will receive postcards or a short letter as an in-between mail from me, carrying such sophisticated sentences as "Wish you were here to blow bubbles with me!" or also "It's Christmas in 248 days - be prepared!" or a simple BIG smiley. - I am not someone who talks 24/7, but I have got my "very chatty" periods and my "very, VERY chatty" periods, so it is a little difficult to shut me up sometimes......however, some things always work. Like seeing James "Daniel Craig" Bond emerging from the water. Ogling is not something men have a privilege on! :P - Colours are my life and I love to colour it! The more, the better! Send me a colourful letter and I will like you a lot, but colour my life with your "presence" as a friend in your letters and I will love you! - Right now I am very much into the music of Amy MacDonald, but this will have changed completely by the time you read this and (hopefully) reply to it. A few days ago it was Cutting Crew and tomorrow it will probably be Coldplay. - I fervently believe that establishing a “real” friendship is possible through snail mail! Why not? I am aware of the fact that I cannot be everyone’s friend, but surely there are some people out there who feel a connection, just as it is in “real” life when you start talking to someone. - Confession time: I love and immensely enjoy being both, immature (not in a very negative sense of the word, however) and mature, silly and owlishly wise. One letter can contain a discussion about questions such as “Is there a life after death?” or “What about god(s)?”, the next one can include a lengthy paragraph about ten things to do with Robbie Williams if the two of us happened to be locked in – yes, I know it will never happen and chances are not high, but there you are! See what I mean? *hmpf* I feel I have written enough now as I do not want to scare you - after all, this is an ad on a pen pal site with its purpose to look for friends and it would be quite outrageous to shoo you away instead of trapping you in my spider's web! I'm Ilse, I'm 22 years old and after bachelor and master studies in theology & religious studies, I'm now doing an additional year at university to do a teacher training religion. It's not a topic I often talk about in my free time though, so don't expect someone who gets into big debates about these matters. What do I like to do in my spare time then? I like meeting up with friends (when it matters more who you're with than what you're doing), movies, tv, reading, listening to music, ... and last but not least: penpalling. I would describe myself as someone who writes letters of medium lenght, so I prefer penpals who write medium to long letters themselves. It all depends on what you call medium or long of course, and I noticed that it depends on the penpal as well. I try to write regular, but sometimes, p.e. in the examination month, it's a bit harder to do so. I don't really swap or do FB's, I'm just looking for a snail mail pal, preferably someone who sticks around for the rest of our lives =). Yes, I definately am looking for a longterm penpal! I'm 29, married and a mom for a baby girl come from Japan. I'm very much into pen paling and as I'm looking for a couple of pen pals, I decided to put my ad here. I love music, movies, dramas, books, yoga, pen paling ofcourse, stationeries, cooking, baking, spending time with my family, animals, nature, hot springs... I have been pen paling since I was 10 and it's the biggest passion for me. I really love to write and receive long letters! I love to make chats over letters and that's why I usually write long letters. By the way I can say I'm picky when it comes of my pen pals. I have a difficult time making friends in real life due to some social anxiety, and what not. I'm also bipolar, but I promise I wont pull a crazy on you! I’m 25 years old, happily married and live in Spain (although I am originally from the UK). I’m looking for female penpals who are searching for long lasting friendship through regular, long letters. Through penpalling I´ve made very good and close friends, and i´ve been lucky enough to meet some of them in real life, which has been simply an incredible experience...Some penpals have disappeared through the years and others have remained, but i hardly can think of a real bad experience by far and that´s what makes it so special... So now, after some bad times, I´m active again and I feel like getting to know a couple of new persons interested in the same type of communication through letter than me, who believe it is possible to find real friends through letter and keep them through the years... I know it is hard to connect and this is something that only happens sometimes in life, but it is such a magical experience that I cant stop searching for special people!!! Well, what to say about myself. I am 27, actually I am more 28 than 27, still... I am a teen at heart and actually don't feel this eld. I am currently unemployed (as many - too many - people nowadays) and try to spend my free time with my favourite hobbies, so that I still keep myself occupied with something useful and pleasant! I am a long letters lover. I have been penpalling for ages, I hardly can remember the very day when I wrote my first letter to a pal, but I am sure I was a child back then. I put all myself in letters and write about anything (and I really mean everything with that said) that comes to my mind, I share trivial things of everyday life and deep thoughts on life and the world issues. I love to treat my penpals as real friends. I have not got many friends here where I live and I give my whole self to far away buddies. I love to read, but I admitt being not too fast at it. I like to live every story as if I was the main character of a book. And if I don't like the story by its half I can't go on and put the book down. There's a world of books I still have got to read and it is nonsense to waste time on not too cool prose. I love pets, dogs especially. I have got my own pets at home and love to spend time with them. I am fond of long walks and am happy whenever I can be in the nature. I adore travelling and would like to visit Europe by train. I don't have any particular criteria because I believe in the fact that the one who is really looking for friends and someone to write with would have energy to read my ad and respond to it. Due to personal issues, which I can tell you later, I'm only looking for e-mail friends. I've graduated from high school in spring 2004. I tried to get in the law university straight away but, as there are even thousands of triers each year, I didn’t make it there and pass the entrance examination at the first try. At the moment I’m working as a customer service counsellor and in a switchboard and studying languages for a hobby. I enjoy and love learning languages. I’ve studied several languagesby now. Finnish is my native language and English I started when I was nine years old. I'm going to start the studies in the Finnish Business School in fall. It'll bring me a business degree that'll be very useful for my career and future. One might wonder however I would have time for anything else if I work and study but I do rather easily. These things go very much mostly how you arrange your own schedule. I'm a very systematic and well-organized personality, so I've never found it hard to have time for everything what I'm willing to do. I’m as fluent with English as a non-native speaker can be and I use it daily. I’ve studied and used it for so long that it’s almost like my second ”first language” by now if I can put it in that way. I’ve also studied English and linguistics at the university level even if I’ve not been to the university officially. Swedish I know because it’s the second official language in Finland and everyone has to study it in school, so I’ve gotten a seven-year-long education of it. I took the basic course of German and French in high school and I have studied more French after high school. I’ve also studied Spanish. I have studied the basics of Russian, Chinese, and Arabic just to discover and get the impression of what the languages are like. I live in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and I’m 24 years old. I have one brother and two sisters, I’m the eldest. I have a two-year-old cat who I dote on. He’s my little sweetheart and he was really wanted when he moved in here. I had wanted a cat for many years and finally I had a chance to have one. Garfield is a wild and curious cat who fears nothing. He’s been to many places with me. It’s nice to take him around because he doesn’t shun any people or places, old or new. I live at home at the moment with my brother and mother but I’m going to buy my own apartment within a year. I have several hobbies and even more interests. If I listed the briefly, a few of them are music, reading, writing, computers, Internet, some sports like jogging and swimming, languages, history, cultures, psychology, learning new things in general... I could write a list of ten pages of them if I just dared to start. As it already came up, I’m basically always up to a lot. I’m an active person and always ready to try new things and very curious about just everything. I sing, play piano and a bit guitar but basically I do it just for fun and for myself. Music is a very big part in my life and I consider myself musical. I enjoy listening to all sorts of music but what I’m mostly listening to are older rock, some pop, classical, techno and trance. I also have a website. I am not someone who would be a member in several social networks like this site is below but I’m a member of Multiply. One network is fine to me and it takes enough of my time. I’ve tried MySpace, Facebook, Hi5, and whatever there are available, but they haven’t been too impressive. I rather focus on one site properly than have tens of pages and no time for any of them. Multiply offers and gives me what I want to do in a social network and it’s just fine. There are a lot of pictures, blog entries, and other stuff, just if you want to have a peek. It’s part of this introduction, let’s say. I'm a regular writer. Sometimes it takes just a couple of days to write a letter but then there are times when it takes a little longer; two or even three weeks. I never let the letters delay longer. I've had pen friends who've written a couple of times a year and I'm not into such penpalling. One doesn't have to sit at the computer for 24/7 but it's hard to keep up the communication and get to know someone if the communication is as rare as just a few letters a year. So, if there's any impression of me that I'd be a pen friend to your taste, my mailbox is waiting for your letter and I'm most willing to hear from you. Books? I'm a literary whore. Seriously. I read anything. Even the back of shampoo bottles while I'm peeing (TMI?). I'm openminded and friendly, but I don't like blatant stupidity. I talk about anything, and quite possibly everything under the sun. The first few letters aren't usually zomgLONG, since we're just getting to know each other. Later letters tend to be quite long. I am an opinionated person, but I don't slam my views on someone & expect them to agree with me. I don't expect to make friends with people who are like that either. :) I'm taking some courses in September. In two years, I should hopefully have a certificate in Business Management. I don't plan on letting this interfere with replying to my penpals (although if I have some homework, I won't sit and write a letter when I'm not supposed to. Priorities and all). I've been fairly good with managing my time lately. I swap slams, and I don't mind FBs. I love mix-CDs, and mix-tapes are even better. I love handmade things. I am a 27 year old German girl looking for a few more LONG LETTER snail mail penpals. I don´t care, where you are from, but I would prefer to talk to people around my age (from 24 years till 35 more or less). I am very much into letter writing. I started penpalling when I was a teenager and I still love it. I love to write about my daily life, my feelings, if something makes me sad or happy, about current issues, about books and whatever else comes to your or my mind. I see penpalling as real friendships and therefore put quite some time in the letters I write. I like to send stuff with my letter (not all the time though). But from time to time I like to send postcards or photos, so that you can imagine a bit more, what my life is about and how things are going in my life. I have worked in the hotel industry in the past, but have now gone back to university to become a translator one day. I am studying English and Spanih, but have to practice my Spanish a lot, as it is not as good as my English :-) I have lived abroad several times. I lived in Boston, USA for a year, in Spain and also in Peru. I love a lot of countries and hope to move abroad after my studies. I am an addicted to the USA, have made wonderful friends there and just love the country! I am a bookworm and love to read almost everything. However, I don´t mind if you are an eat meater (my Dad used to work as a butcher, so I am not a crazy vegetarian who wouldn´t talk to people, who eat meat)! As far as what I enjoy doing...I love to write! its probably the one thing that I do especially well, and it also shows in my letters. I do ramble a bit, but I'm chatty and can talk about ANYTHING. I'm probably the most open-minded person you will ever meet! I listen to a variety of music depending on my mood, and I also enjoy reading! I'd love to travel someday(I've been to a few countries in Europe, but thats it.) but I'm not all that sure when. I have a love of cute stationary(and stickers, and envelopes, and pretty colored pens, and fountain pens...I know), but I also enjoy decorating my own paper or writing on notebook paper(not the frilly kind!) because I enjoy the simplicity of it all. I cant remember if I mentioned that I love(and have multiple) tattoos and piercings(all tasteful!), but I do, and its totally addicting! Oh! And I also have a huge, huge loved for bettas. they're my finned babies!
As far as my penpalling goes, Im looking for people who will actually stick around! I want a lasting friendship and I would prefer long, chatty letters. :D I for sure will stay around as your friend, so no worries there. My name is Paula and I’m from Chile. I’m a 23 years old psychologist who loves to write and receive long letter filled with personal details and comments about all sort of things. I have been penpalling since I was 16 years old and I can’t get tired of it. That’s why I’m here :). I am a real bookworm (I'm especially into thrillers, crime and history novels) and I love going to the movies, taking photos, music, scrapbooking, cooking & baking, shopping, travelling as often as I can and of course penpalling. I am not a party-girl, but prefer a to spend the night on the couch with a good self-made meal and a DVD. Also I am very much interested in languages, history, other countries and cultures, collecting postcards and bookmarks. I love the sea, going for walks, polar bears, pasta, old monumental movies and sunflowers. I have been penpalling for most of my life and several of my penpals have become very close friends.
