I've found a wonderful penpal here at "long letter ladies" by replying to her ad and have decided now to place an ad myself to find 1 or 2 more ladies around my age, who enjoy writing and receiving chatty letters on colourful stationery as much as I do. Well, my name is Birgit and I'm a 47 year-old female from Germany. I'm happily married and we've got an 11-year old daughter. I'm addicted to stationery and stickers. Some ladies go crazy for shoes. I do so for stationery! :) I do not only write my letters on nice stationery, but I also collect 1 sheet (and if available, 1 matching envelope) of each letter set/pad I've ever bought or received. So over the years my collection has grown. I've been penpalling since the age of 15 and I'm still in contact with my very first penpal, who has become a dear friend. I don't have many penpals because to me quality is more than quantity, but as my daughter is getting older, I've got a bit more "me time" on my hands. So I've thought getting 1 or 2 new penpals might be great. :) Besides letter-writing I like card making, reading, gardening, taking photos, playing the piano, riding my bike and spending time with my family. I hope to find someone who also likes colourful letters and writes fairly regularly. You don't need to reply right away, but I don't want to hear from you twice per year only either. I prefer to handwrite my letters, as I think that's more personal. I don't mind to receive typed letters (as long as they are personal!), but not all the time. And please no short letters! You don't have to write a novel, but more than 2-3 pages would be nice. I also enjoy to enclose small things in my letters like photos, postcards, stickers, etc., as I think that makes a letter even more interesting. I am 44, married, no kids, 2 pups who are my kids. I have been penpalling since I was 11, but lost touch with a lot in the past few years due to a couple of moves out of state. I'm very interested in other cultures and philosophies. Myself, a study a lot of Eastern Spiritualities, and currently am most immersed in Kundalini Yoga and Kirtan. If that hasn't put you off (it does put some off, though I absolutely believe the are many paths that lead to one truth, and being an INFP am not inclined to be judgmental of others.), please keep reading! I live in a beautiful place called Celebration, which I absolutely adore, I love to do crafts and make gifts for people, love reading, writing, singing, taking evening walks, taking photos, doing jigsaw puzzles and being a constant student of life. I would love to meet some new penfriends, preferrably outside of the US (but if you are a kindred spirit in the US, please do send me a peep!), who likes to share long letters back and forth, and share lives and be friends and not just form letters, but an honest thoughtful, friendly, fun, conversation back and forth via old fashioned letters. I do keep blogs but I am not inclined to play much on facebook, though emails to check in are always nice, especially when life gets in the way a bit. I'm Gill, 43 years old (but feel about 23!), happily married for 10 years now to Neil. We foster the old and abused cats that nobody else wants for a local animal charity and are currently owned by Misty and Thomas who are somewhere between 10 and 15 years old, Nina who is approx 10yo epileptic and Lily who came to us in August 2011 with a badly-broken leg. We finally got the all-fixed from our vet two weeks ago *hurrah* We have been doing this fostering for just over 18 months now after taking on a neglected tabby who turned out to be around 19 years old and had every health problem you can imagine! We only had three brief weeks until she left us for Rainbow Bridge but in that time she made SUCH an impact that taking on the Oldies just seemed the right thing to continue doing. We've known some wonderful cats in this short time, and known our fair share of heartbreak as well, but we cannot see us ever doing anything else because, as Neil says, it feels like we are finally doing something worthwhile in life! My other hobbies and interests include reading, writing long chatty letters to other animal lovers, painting & sketching, gardening, birdwatching & natural history, days out visiting gardens & old houses, digital photography, countryside & beach walks, tracing my family tree (got back to the 1600's so far!!!) and collecting cat ornaments, prints and books. We are hoping to move sometime in the next year to a bigger house and, to make life even more perfect, I would love to finally get my siamese cat which I have always hankered after since I first read Doreen Tovey's books in the 70's AND a jack russell puppy (I am also a big dog lover) as it has been over 15 years since I last had a terrier in my life. Also adore chihuahuas and whippets....but love ALL dogs really! I have been a keen birdwatcher since i was 13 years old and like to get out in the open air whenever possible and in whatever weather! My name is Melody and I am a 40-year old gal living in NY, USA. I am looking for 2-3 special, creative penpals to share chatty, beautifully decorated letters with via snail mail. I hand-write the majority of my letters, and would really love it if my pals did the same. However, I totally understand if that is not always possible, because life can get hectic, hands can hurt from so much writing, etc. As long as I can tell the letter was written personally for me, then I am happy. :) I am a gemini, and a typical one at that! I have many moods and often, people cannot handle me because of it! ;oP In other words, I do NOT lead a monotone existence. I am not ALWAYS happy or ALWAYS melancholy, though I DO suffer from depression and panic attacks. (Figure I better mention that right up front, as I HAVE gone through periods in the past where those things have "interrupted" my palling for a spell.) I WILL let any pals of mine know that I am going through it, though, and not just leave you hanging and wondering. (Hate having that done to me and will not do it to someone else!) I do not care where you are from, what religion you are (or aren't), your race, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. I DO have THREE requirements, though that I cannot make any exceptions for: WOMEN ONLY, at least 30 years of age, and you must at least LIKE animals, as I am a big-time animal lover and can't tolerate people who abuse them. Okay, now for a few of my hobbies/interests/loves; I am very artistic and creative, so you can almost ALWAYS expect to get decorated envelopes in your mailbox from me. :) Aside from art, I am also into reading, photography, writing poetry, crafts, singing, shopping, spending time with family and friends, playing with my pets (I have a dog and 3 cats) and just trying to enjoy life the best I can. PENPALLING – got my first pal at 8 years old and have been hooked ever since. Prefer handwritten letters on fun, colourful stationery, but understand the need to type a letter now and then. Love to share photos so we can get a glimpse of the lives we each lead. I prefer semi-regular penfriends, but I know that sometimes life makes it impossible to write regularly. READING – can you lose track of time once you get caught up in a good book? I love it when that happens! I’m a magazine junkie! I love to read a good mystery, especially a cozy mystery. Love to read biographies, self-help books, children’s books (we read a TON!), spiritual books, and comedies. And I’ll admit to an occasional romance here and there! My name is Heather and I am 41 years young. I live in Newfoundland Canada. I am married and have 3 teenagers (14, 17, 18). That's the basics. :) I am a long time penfriend with pals dating back the whole 31 years of my writing letter life. My pals are more than just people on paper, they are my tried and true friends whom I cherish dearly. I am a regular writer and my letters are long and chatty. There are very few topics that I do not enjoy discussing and I am always open to learning new things or attempting to see things from a perspective that is not my own. Sadly I have lost a few pals over the last year due to circumstances in their lives and I am now finding myself sitting here far too often with no letters to reply to. I am looking for chatty, open minded ladies that will respond to what I say as well as ask questions for me to reply to in my next letter. I will do the same for you. My letters vary is size but my shortest are about 6 A4 pages typed or 10 pages handwritten and my longest are about 20+ pages typed. I am looking for someone who would fit in that range somewhere. Shorter letters just don't "do it" for me. I feel they are a waste of postage. *laugh* My greatest love is writing but I also enjoy learning about new places and people, I have a penchant for learning about medicine and health as well. I’m looking for a long letter snail mail lady in Canada who is around my own age, give or take a few years. I was born in May 1962, live in the Netherlands, and have been penpalling since 1998. I have a handful of much appreciated, very faithful penpals, most of whom I’ve been writing to for several years now and some of whom I’ve even met. I do love snail mail penpalling and I’m definitely a long letter writer but I’m also a highly irregular penpal as I’m an executive secretary/PA by profession and am working full-time, with limited spare time as a result. If you don’t like an irregular penpal or write short letters, please, do not respond to this ad as we’ll both be disappointed. I have lots of interest, far too many for my own good: I love books & literature (including Canadian lit.), landscape photography, museums, art, exhibitions, cinema, genealogy, local history, counted cross-stitch, cycling, walking, gardening, yoga, classical music, Pounamu (New Zealand jade), cooking & baking, foreign countries & travelling, and more. I like most animals but love cats and horses. I don’t mind whether you are married or single, with or without kids, and I don’t mind in which Canadian province or territory you live, as long as you’re a long letter writer with similar interests, who doesn’t mind irregular letters. Hi my name is Su. I live on the North West coast of England. I have two beautiful children who are my absolute life. My daughter is at university and my Son is at college. I am a part time university student and a primary school teacher. I have many interests, just no time to fulfil them all. Although when I do get the time my tiny gardens are my passion especially in spring and summer. I love to create lovely hanging baskets and flower pots in my small back garden and enjoy tending to all my flowers and plants in my even smaller front garden. I have a great sense of humour and like to be around happy people. (Because I used to be one, Lol.) I have just had major building work done in my home so I am enjoying decorating my entire house which is a task and a half, but is starting to look lovely again. I also enjoy writing to pen friends, receiving letters from pen friends, reading, baking, cooking, mini stationery, paper crafts, general history, local history, and early human life. I love anything to do with lighthouses, spending hours and a fortune in bookstores. I enjoy being a teacher. I love Christmas and I am a devout Roman Catholic. I love spending lots of quality time with my family.(My family is very important to me and I am a very family orientated person) I watch very little T.V. However when I do watch I tend to favour American sitcoms, for example, curb your enthusiasm, everybody loves Raymond and Sex and the city. I love Lost and have watched every single episode although by the end of series 5 I felt it was getting way too bizarre. (That coupled with the fact they removed it from one of my cable channels, I have not seen series six...yet) Unfortunately British TV leaves a lot to be desired and screens mostly soaps and reality programmes. I absolute detest both those genres. However I do enjoy 'Come dine with me', History documentaries and documentaries about archaeological sites. (Sorry if that sounds boring lol but I like to see how we used to live) One of my Favourite films has got to be; `Bridges of Madison County', my favourite TV adaptation is the 96 cast BBC version of 'Pride and Prejudice', my favourite miniseries is 'Jewel in the Crown' and My favourite read amongst an array is a Jane Austen. I love to go onto my local beach (which I call `My Beach') on the coast which I live on and love it equally on freezing cold snowy days (when I am the only person there) as well as during the summer. (When it's usually packed and you can't get a parking space). I have two beautiful jet black identical twin male cats, who are just over 2 years old. They are called Red and Blu. I have had them since they were six weeks old. I still love them although they have both virtually destroyed my home between them, (That reminds me, I have to order new drapes). I also now have an adorable Jack Russell puppy who is about 38 weeks old (to date.) I have had him since he was 10 weeks old. He is a pretty smart little guy, and loves my beach too, which is now half his beach, lol. His name is 'Chip' after the character Mr Chips in the film 'Goodbye Mr Chips' A film which I adore (original version.) I am seeking pen friends mainly from the USA and UK, I love the American way of life. I am looking for friends that don't leave it months between letters or write a couple of letters then cease to write. Or just receive your letter then email to say they will write when they get time and never bother to reply. Sorry for that little moan lol but this is a fact when seeking pen friends. I don't mind if you handwrite or type your letters, (Although my preference would be typewritten.) I have started to mainly type my letters. I do tend to write long letters (As you might have guessed from the length of my ad) (It is slightly disappointing to send out a long letter only to receive back 1 or 2 sides.) I usually try to reply within a week or two of receiving a letter. I do prefer to write to people from my own generation (30's-40's) I am sorry if this cause's offence but I find I have more in common with people of a similar age. | Comments: | The art of letter writing is a big passion of mine. I like using nice paper and pens, various embellishments and other artistic elements. I’m always creative with my mail and I enjoy calligraphy and clear neat handwriting. I never send “just a letter” because I like spoiling my penpals with small presents on a regular basis, and I always think of something bigger and special for their birthdays and Christmas. My letters are usually long and often sent in small packets because I’m addicted to heavy mail. I’ve been into penpalling since my childhood so I can say that I definitely have a lot of experience in that area. When I write, I always keep a dialogue with my penpal. I enjoy establishing a real connection turning penpalling into lifelong friendship.
