At the end of your gig, when the mention of an available CD was made, like an idiot, I did not pull at my husband's shorts pocket (where the money is) and insist on getting one. BIG MISTAKE! But I thought, ok, there's always the internet. Was happy to find your site today, coming home to the Pocono's. Do you ever come here? Don't see it on your schedule. I was stunned that my husband liked your music: he has plugged his ears with his fingers in near proximity of bagpipes, and runs from accordians, but I think you've changed his appreciation for some of the finer musical instruments! | Comments: | Just wanted to thank you all again for a great time at Smithville and for the CD you all signed and gave to my brother Eddie. He had a blast. I would see him stomping his foot and hooting & shouting. I myself had played bagpipes with Ulster Scottish Pipe Band. We were a competition band and Eddie would be our biggest crictic at our practices.
If John (Garry I think) can e-mail a picture of he, his kids and Eddie in the wheelchair he had me take with his camera at Smithville, that would be great. I would love to get it printed and framed for his room. His neurologist always said that Eddie was his only case that ever improved and he gave credit to the love of his family and the musical therapy he was getting from the bagpipes. We hope you are excited about returning to Founders to play after the Alexandria Scottish Walk. My partner and I stopped into the bar last Saturday and talked with some folks about your music. We are especially interested in how your band works with the crowd after the Walk. The reason for our interest is as follows: For many years (I think we are going on 17) our families have participated in the Walk... The Family of Bruce ( and a few McKenzies and McPhersons thrown in) We have always partied at Pat Troys because he always had a great performer Seamus Kennedy as entertainment. A few years ago Seamus did not make his appearance and the entertainment offered since has been pale by comparison. We all enjoy singing a few Scottish traditional songs (Flower of Scotland, Marries Wedding, Scotland the Brave, Dumbarton Drums, any crazy drinking song, etc.) and Pat's Unicorn Song has kept many of our wee folk entertained while parents and friends party through the afternoon. Recent entertainment has made little effort to play to the Scots in the room...very disappointing. We love your music that you share on your website. We are wondering if you might intersperse your "neo-celticism" with some traditional fare during your show. If so we will be glad to bring our clan of 15-20 adults to enjoy your show. I was at the Frederick Festival last weekend. I have to tell you..I love you guys and I think i've listened to your CD a hundred times. Ha, it hasn't left my car's CD player. Your sound never gets tired no matter how many times I see it. Every time, there's a different feeling in the lyrics, or a new nuance in the music. You had the crowd on their feet as usual, but I've never seen a band make an entire bar stop, then go absolutely crazy, as you did on Amazing Grace. Ode to the Wood By Sharon L. Dischert 4/29/03 As I happened one evening to pop in the pub, my path did cross with the Wood. Seven kindred spirits all tied together, with three hailing from childhood. Men in skirts is how they’re known to all those hither and far Who knew they could get away with it, dressed like that in a bar! Let me tell you, my friend, that these seven members of this clan are a Neo-Celtic experience, and not your ordinary band. The original three, melodically luring you toward their insightful web Are Piper Bruce, Strummer Rick, and the totally delightful Zeb. Piper Bruce as they say, is more than a handsome fellow His pipes you see, they call to you… with not a whisper but bellow! With lungs of steel and balls to match…it’s easy for all to see Why he’s the leader of the lot, to which I’m sure you’ll agree! Rick is the master of all things strings and will strum you into a haze. Just don’t leave your woman alone with him, or you won’t see her for days! From Bruce's blazing bagpipes to Ryan's guitar riffs, it's musical expression that must be experienced. I never thought "Celtic" music could be so fresh! To hear Pam/Zeb sing "Seano", gives ya goosebumps, even if you don't understand the words. Rick can play anything with strings as well as John can play anything with a "skin". Then next thing you know, John's on keyboards and it's Ricks turn to sing.
