Name: Past Supporter E-mail Address: beenoo@mac.com Impressions: From the January newsletter: For Vilaro, "It's like coming back home with a great award, an Oscar or an Emmy. The feeling of ‘look what I have accomplished' is overwhelming." My impression: It seems to me the feeling should be " look what WE've accomplished." Vilaro may be forgetting that it takes the talent of many others to send him back to NYC with that feeling. I sense a shift happening here and I hope it's corrected very soon.

Name: cristina persico E-mail Address: fopo123@comcast.net Impressions: After attending your show on Saturday I was impressed by not only the quality of your work, but the warmth of the dancers and the director and founder. I felt an absolute Latin pride as I watched in awe at the richness of the choreography. I am Argentinian and I cried to the tango piece with the sound of the vitrola. I was transported to my childhood in Buenos Aires. Thank you very much, too bad I did not win the raffle to accompany you to New York, need an assistant???

We thoroughly enjoyed all the pieces and the music. For sure we will attend another performance when this group returns to the Cleveland area. We are trying to find pictures of the dancer Anthony Payla - does he have a website or pictures available?

Name: Michele E-mail Address: manfromio@yahoo.com Impressions: I just returned home from this evening's performance at the Ohio Theatre, in Cleveland, Ohio. I was so glad I happened to tune into Danita Harris' interview of Eduardo, as he explained briefly what Luna Negra was about. So, I promptly went online to investigate and the rest is history. Spectacular. I particularly enjoyed a few of the sustained positions in the movements that required the female dancers to display their lower body strength while not sacrificing the beauty of the phyical story-telling. I especially enjoyed the Q&A session afterwards. Cozy. My driver was waiting and the fact that we stayed for the Q&A piqued his interest also. Well, I am checking your performance schedule for your next appearance in Chicago, so that I may treat my mother and her best friend to the ocular delights you present. Oh, yummy! And by the way, I was throughly entranced by Jorge and Jessica. Jorge's presence is very manly and Jessicas fingers are so daintly when they fan back in their natural curves. Without becoming too ballet-ish, it would be nice to see a portion of a piece dedicated solely to challenging the audience to interpret hand and arm movements. I think we take our digits for granted far to often, but they express so much of how we think and feel. "Los Manos a el Corazon" or something like that. And, lastly, Eduardo mentioned that he forgot to include the english lyrics sheet. Well, I would have enjoyed having it, but it was a good experience for those in the audience to stretch their senses and feel the dance. My spanish is pretty good, but really, I stopped interpreting and simply immersed myself in the story lines. Oops, lastly, lastly, where may I obtain Susana Baca's CD. What a crystal voice she has. Thanks and see you soon. Buena Noche!

Name: Migdalia B. Mansilla R. E-mail Address: migbema@gmail.com Impressions: Luna Negra: dedicado a quien un día llamé hijo a: Jorge. Te vi danzar. Tu cuerpo alado llenando un escenario. Te vi ser la extensión física de la música. Te observaba y mientras las notas musicales tomaban formas en ti, soñé con el día en que te dije hijo. No supiste estuve alli.

Name: Joanna Farley E-mail Address: Jfarley@lawrenceville.org Impressions: Mr Eduardo! I just came back from ya'll's performance at Loyola with the NORD kids and wanted to say that I really enjoyed it. It made me regret not being able to do the Footbridge program this year: I had forgotton how inspiring and fun it was to work with Luna Negra last summer. I did try to take class with you, though! ...Me and Edward both. The performance woke me up from my So-You-Think-You-Can-Dance summer and once again encouraged me to keep working at this art form we like to call dance. hope to hear you scream at me during some sort of dance class in the future, Joanna

She loves to dance. when she was a little girl I inrolled her in Folkloric dance and in a dance school for basic tap, jazz and ballett. She also took some a hip hop class. Now that she is in high school she attends the academy. There is so much competition there, she feels that she isn't good enough to stay in the school. This year she has told me that she doesn't want to attend next year because she hasn't been selected to dance in any of there peaces. This is her 2nd year there and I know she LOVES TO DANCE. I am asking for some help to encurrage her to stick it out to give it her best to have faith in herself and I know her dreams could come true. The Academy for the Arts has very few latinos and she feel that she does not messure up to the rest of her classmates. Please, what can I do as a parent to encurrage her to follow her dream. My daughter does not know I am sending this e-mail. Please help.
