He keeps posting these same angry hate mails about tribute bands but is too scared to post his REAL email for a reply! He is obviously in the MINORITY because the reasons the tribute bands get the weekend gigs is because clubs are in the business to make money and tribute bands get lots of people out to shows. Maybe you need to play better music, and build up a following so YOU can get those nights at clubs. Go out and promote instead of posting nasty comments!

However, since I have moved to the Modesto area I have seen two very talented tribute bands out here that may not be very well known in the Bay Area. One is a Pink Floyd tribute band that goes by the names Mad Cow Industries and/or Darkside of the Moon. Another one is a Steely Dan Tribute Band called Kid Charlamgne. By the way, this is very interesting and informative site devoted to the much neglected and unfairly maligned tribute bands that have provided us with so many hours of wonderful entertainment over the years.

Why the hell would I want to come see a bunch of wannabes trying to act like their favorite rockstar when I can see the real thing? No offense to Lynda as I am sure you are very cool. However all of these bands and "musicians" are living off of the hard work that the original musicians put into their music. I can guarantee you that they aren't paying royalty rights to ASCAP, BMI or any other performing rights organization. How is what they are doing any different from a club or coffehouse that has to pay royalty rights to the artist for using their music? Plus 99% of the tribute bands don't even play the songs right to begin with. Trust me if I want to see Metallica I will see the real thing not Aaron Pearson trying to be James Hetfield and doing a poor job. And if I want to see Van Halen I would rather watch a dvd of the real thing instead of Hot for Teacher with their fat singer, ugly ass arrogant bassist and wanna be Eddie Van Halen that looks like Cousin It. Tribute bands SUCK!!! By the way this goes for cover bands too!
