Buzz is a loving grey and white short haired lap cat. My brother and his wife found him near their house in Cleveland. He had been kicked and abused by some local brats and he had multiple parasites. He was near death. They took him to their vet and nursed him back to health physically, but he remained terrified of people. They had named him Buzz saw because of the way he attacked with his claws whenever they got near him. When I visited them the week after Christmas, my sister in law threw a blanket over him to catch him and I took him. I held him close for a long time and eventually he began to purr. I took him home and worked with him and now he is an unbelievably loveable lap cat. Fortunately I kept him separate from my 5 other cats because when I took him to the vet he tested positive for feline leukemia. The vet tells me that the vaccinations are only 60 to 80 % effective so vaccinating the others is not an option. Now I am faced with the heartbreaking job of finding this wonderful cat another home. He doesn't deserve any more bad things in his life. He is between 8 - 10 months old and I still plan to have him neutered so it will be easier for him to find a home. (Buzz stands for Buzz Light Year now, Buzz saw is gone.)

I have a beautiful spotted tabby DSH polydactyl 15 week old female/spayed kitten. She has tested positive for FeLV only. I have four other cats. I cannot keep her. My heart is absolutely broken ,because I love her so much and she is so very special. You will never find a more beautiful cat with more personality and with more love for life...never a smarter ,sweeter kitty, never a more playful kitty who loves all other kitties and everyone... She already does the funniest things like loves to knock your glasses off and steal your glasses...She loves to stretch out on her back and sleep in your lap and show off her spotted tummy. I could go on and on... I found her at a rescue shelter in Montana...These people did not test their kitties before going to all the trouble to spay/neuter/ vaccinate and adopt her and her five siblings out. We have only had one test am waiting to retest, but did find out another sibling has tested positive, so I am sure it must have come through the mother that nobody has tracked down to test...I'd like to find her a home with another positive kitty if possible. She loves other kitties. Of course, she needs a completely indoor home where she will be safe. I do bring her home on the weekends from my friend's where she is staying and let her play in my flower beds while I work in my yard...I watch her very closely and she does not get around my other cats, who I keep in the house, or contaminate her surroundings...She just loves life so much and enjoys discovering everything...I do want her to have fun.

Hi, I just accidentally got directed to this site; I had forgotten that I had posted September 2004 - Mimi stayed with us; she is adorable loving like no other cat we've had. She healthy - has a few problems but manageable. she is incontinent and had problems with constipation. My loving husband built a plexiglass door on our second floor and Mimi has a charming "apartment" - this is a huge success story. We used an immune modulator for awhile, but I do Reiki regularly for her. Can I send you some pictures?

Extremely URGENT!!! STILL THERE,Hickory Creek, TX - "BEN" - FIV + Maine Coon (?mix) - BEGGING!!! I CALLED THE SHELTER MYSELF TODAY AND SPOKE WITH A VERY NICE GENTLEMAN WHO TOLD ME THAT THIS CAT IS STILL AT THE SHELTER AND NEEDS TO BE RESCUED. THE CAT HAS BEEN THERE AWHILE NOW AND IS VERY SWEET. THIS CAT MAY RUN OUT OF TIME VERY SOON IF THE SHELTER GETS CROWDED AND THEY HAVE TO EUTH. PLEASE...ISN'T THERE ANYONE WHO CAN FIND ROOM FOR THIS SWEET GUY ??!! HICKORY CREEK ANIMAL SERVICES *Hickory Creek is just north of Dallas (north of Flower Mound, on I-35E just past Lake Lewisville bridge) PTS could be scheduled any time for the cats and dog pictured below. This shelter performs PTS upon coming full and they only have a half dozen or so dog runs and cat cages. Cats are particularly in danger at this time. Please call Ken AT 940-465-7444 to tag. DIRECTIONS: Located on the southbound I35E service road, just south of the Lake Dallas/Hickory Creek Exit immediately after you cross over Lake Lewisville. Ben, Maine Coon or Maine Coon Mix?, M Ben is a sweet, beautiful, long-haired kitty and appears to possibly be a Maine Coon due to his size and structure. This sweet boy tested positive for FIV. If you know anyone that may perhaps already have an FIV positive kitty, as you are aware these kitties can live a normal long life and FIV is believed to be passed through biting. Can't see this guy biting - he's an absolute sweetie. The shelter would very much like to see this guy saved, but unfortunately, they are very full at this time, and Ben will be first on the PTS list. Do you know of anyone that might be interested in this sweet loving boy? Shelter willing to waive adoption fee and get kitty fixed, etc. to anyone wanting to adopt directly from the shelter. Please contact Ken at 940-465-7444 asap. ON PTS LIST. "Everything else can wait but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another." ~ George Harrison 1943 - 2001

I just want to say that I am very happy a site like this exsists. I have a foster kitten, that I have had for about a month and a half, and just recently I found out it had FIV. I have decided on keeping the kitten because I could never live with myself if I took it to be euthanized. For potential adopters, I say Kudos to you...FIV cats are great, and amazing too...Don't let the thought of a disease scare you from keeping, or adopting an amazing cat!

I understand from some recent studying that new kittens sometimes test positive initially for FIV when the mother had the virus, but should be tested at 6 months. Usually they no longer test positive as they were exposed but never infected.

While I can't adopt your kitty I want to say what a sweet person you are to rescue such an animal when many people in the world can be so cruel. I too have a FIV positive cat (Buster) who like yours was malnourished, dehydrated, and just plain pitiful when I got him. Unfortunately, my ill grown son was not taking care of him so I brought him home. He is now living in my garage because I have three non-FIV cats. I am trying to find him a home as well. Like yours he is the sweetest most playful cay almost like he is so thankful that someone is finally taking care of him. I hope to find him a single cat family one of these days. Just wanted to tell you good luck. I think God looks out for people like you. Wendy Atlanta

Los Angeles - I have a 11 week old black kitten who has tested as a weak positive for FELV. Dante is a very sweet, affectionate kitten who is looking for a loving home. I found Dante in the street after a car had purposely swerved to hit him. I rushed him to the emergency clinic, where he was treated for shock, malnutrition, and various other ailments from his life as a stray. He has now recovered completely from his injuries, and he is very healthy and playful. He really enjoys being around people, but he has to stay locked up in my bathroom because I have two FELV negative cats. Can anyone give him a home of his own? Please contact me if you're interested!

Just 10 weeks! We are in need of your help. We have 2 Kittens about 10 weeks old that were found in our shed. One Orange Tiger and one Black/white. They are incredibly affectionate and very playful. We took them to the vets to give them all their shots and be wormed; vet papers will be available. Unfortunately they tested positive for FELV+ (feline Leukemia positive) but are very healthy otherwise. We are unable to keep them and we are looking for a good home for them. They will come with a Pet Carrier,Food dish with Water bowl/water bottle combo, toys and Litter box. We will also make sure they come with a full bag of Dry food and a case of wet food. We only ask for a $25 donation to the Taunton Animal Shelter. Please help us out and the kittens out by finding them a great home. Thank you for considering these adorable kittens.

Gulliver-FIV+ Cat Snowshoe,Siamese Mix Size: Medium Age: Young Sex: Male ID: Notes: This handsome fellow is around 2-years old, neutered, up-to-date with vaccinations, wormed, flea treated and litter trained. He has tested FIV+ which means he should be an indoor-only cat and can be placed with another cat that is FIV +. Gulliver has a terrific, laid-back, easygoing personality. He enjoys scratches under the chin and will reward you with head butts, air machine and purring. He does not say much (except while riding in the car) but has very expressionistic, slightly-crossed blue eyes. Gulliver is a Blue-Point, Snowshoe mix. He originally was brought in to the local shelter wearing a collar but classified as a stray. Gulliver traveled down from Havre de Grace, so if you know of anyone looking for this guy in the area or are interested in adopting this big fellow, please give us a call at 410-557-6161 or 410-436-5073. This boy is really worth it, what a wonderful lap-cat. (Please visit Web Site for his picture: www.thefarm.petfinder.com.) Also check out our other two FIV+ cats. Thank you - Pat

Back in Nov, I trapped a litter of 5 kittens. Two were adopted right away. One was adopted by a coworker who later called me and said she had her kitten put to sleep because it tested FIV+. I was heartbroken and had the remaining 3 tested. Two tested neg and were placed in good homes. I kept the + kitty in a small spare room to retest at a later date. This past Saturday I had him retested and again the results were FIV+. This poor kitten has been living in a spare room all by himself. I would love to keep him myself but I have a dog and 3 cats of my own. I just wouldn't be able to trust my dog with him since he has killed small animals in the yard. Rizon, (the kitten) is a beautiful 6 month old, solid gray kitten. He is full of life but very lonely and deserves to have his own permanent home. He has been neutered and has a great disposition. I am looking for a special person who could love and care for Rizon like I would. I know there is someone out there. I live in NJ and would love to hear from you. He took her to the vet yesterday for a check-up and today we were told that she is "weakly" positive for the FIV. I'm hoping someone has some updated info for us at to treatments and what to expect. This makes us even more glad we found her, in that we can give her good care & nutrition and remove her from the wild cat population. Thanks for any insight anyone can give us. Jennifer Rooney

He is the sweetest cat I've met (more so than my own), and if I didn't already have 4 cats I would keep him, but I cannot risk infecting them. His leg is going to be fixed, however if I cannot find a home he will have to be put to sleep because I can't keep him at our hospital very long. PLEASE HELP!
