He is brown, very pleasant personality, he is not good with cats but kids and other dogs are ok. He is neutered but I have no additional knowledge such as shot history, etc. He really has an adorable personality but we are not willing to commit to another animal. We didn't want to see him abandoned, though and would like to see him placed in a good situation. |

| Comments: | i first got my cocoa (red or brown)(female) dashaund from the pet store 5 years ago when she was 5 weeks old now we found slinkey (male)when he was 8 months old someone set him off on the road and we brought him home and tried to find ythe owner but no luck we have had him for almost 2 years now and they (him and cocoa) have had babies (4) 2 male bam bam and rascal and 2 female pebbles and zoe all long haired and 1 short haired both parents are short haired. they are so cuuuuuuuuuuuute! and enteratianing. then someone was gonna get rid of a little mini daschaund all black so i took her too her name is minnie she is 9 months old so i have a bunch of weiners!!!lol that i love very much. they are hard to potty train any help?????

I cant imagine him being rescued or even being alone or away from me for that matter. He never leaves my side, follows me around the house constantly. I have had chows,dalmations, and pit-bulls, and let me tell you this little gy is the best dog as far as potty training I have ever had. He is just great and we love him so much. I wish I would have known about your establishment before I purchased my dog. But I really cant imagine life without him. She weighed 2.2 lbs. The absolute light of my life. She was always excited when I came home from the store even if it was only an hour. What a doll. Two weeks ago we had to have her put to sleep as her kidney problems worsened. That is the worst thing I have ever had to do. I MISS HER SO MUCH!!! I stayed in there as they gave her the shot. I did not want her to be scared or alone. She was always there for me and I would be for her. They gave her the shot and she really just went to sleep. I could tell by looking in her eyes when she was gone. I hurt so bad. It will be 2 weeks yesterday and I cry for her alot. It will never be the same. I will never be the same since she came into my life 14 years ago. She put sunshine and brought happiness where I never thought I could experience here on earth. 14 years sounds like a long time but it was not close to being enough. | Comments: | the houston dachshund rescue wouldn't even respond to any of my emails or phone messages. so after six weeks of being agnored, my husband and i found a good breeder and will be bringing home our little male doxie next week end. what a shame because as an older couple we could have provided a good and loving home for some poor little dachshund that didn't have one. just didn't want anyone else to be as disappointed as we were. |

| Comments: | Oscar is a precious Dachshund who is 5 yr. old and has serious medical problems......He has been at the Pet Hospital for three days now. The vet said he has Pancreatitis and possible Cushings. I have limited funds to care for this dog due to being a single mother of three. We love Oscar dearly and are heart broken we may have to put him to sleep within a couple of days. Out of desperation, I am posting this to see if any one knows of a vet, agency, or a kind person even to adopt Oscar to save his life. I will be paying close to 1,000.00 tonight for his care so far and that is all I can do without getting myself in a bind of not having rent, utilites and groceries for the month. I have called SPCA, recues. shelters, vet schools just to see if someone will help.I have even offered to make a payment of $150.00 a month for Oscars care. So far, no luck.........
The vets tell me putting Oscar to sleep is not needed right now but he needs plasma and I V thereapy for up to two weeks. They still can not promise me these treatments will work and Oscar will live. I have also been told there is nothing I can do to treat him at home and hospital care is needed. | Comments: | Just this past Tuesday ( nov. 26, 2002) my family and i had to put our estimated 10+ year old dachshund to sleep. His name was Hansel and he was the best dog ever. Recently he injured his back and his back legs could no longer function. While we tried our hardest to pro-long his life, we had to let him go. He couldn't walk, control his bladder, and all he did was bark. Now I am having a hard time cope-ing (sry for spelling) with the loss. I have never lost anyone or anything close to me before (im 16) and now all I can do is cry. I really wish that I could get another dog. We got Hansel from this same rescue club. And I would like to thank them for giving me and my family the best dog in the entire world.

They are both very active and mischievious, especially Jake. I catch him plotting, usually successfuly, on ways to get things that are way out of his reach! Yep -- he's a monster, but I love him anyway.
