| Comments: | Yay! A whole website dedicated to my precious vicomte! I ADORE Raoul de Chagny. He's so sweet. So far, in my quest of discovering POTO, I have read Susan Kay's Phantom (in which I hated Christine's character), Leroux's novel (in progress) and seen the 2004 movie (in which Raoul is played by Patrick Wilson and is really hot and has a really beautiful voice ^_^). I have not finished reading Leroux yet, but what I've read so far makes me feel even more sorry the poor guy. I have tried examining Raoul's character 100 times and I can't find any reason for people to hate him. You just can't hate him! He's too sweet. So people who hate him are just plain crazy. XP Silly air-headed Erik sympathizers...they think they know everything. ::sighs:: Ah, the misguided majority...

| Comments: | YAY!!! A SITE THAT SUPPORTS RAOUL!!! FINALLY!!! I'm just fed up with people bashing Raoul and all that fics people write with E/C pairing. I'm also getting sick when I read fics in which Erik and Christine have a child (honestly I just can't imagine Christine having done "things" with Erik, well, at least with the one from Leroux book XD). Anyway I'm glad that I'm not the only one in the universe that supports our little viscount de Changy.

| Comments: | GO RAOUL!!!! I haven't read the book, but I saw ALW's musical (stuttgart) and the 2004 movie (best musical ever!). I don't see why everyone hates the poor guy, he totally rocks! (especially in the movie - he that man is hot!) And really, I think every Raoul-basher would choose him over Erik if they were Christine. I know I would! At least I know Raoul's not a crazy obsessive murderer! (no offence, I like Erik, but well... that's what he is!) Besides, Raoul is SEXY! XD |

| Comments: | It is nice to find someone who is as fed up as I am with all the bashing that Raoul recieves. I have always viewed him as a courageous young man, deeply in love, who would do anything within his power to protect his beloved from percieved danger. I have to admit that I am not much for the Christine/Raoul pairing either, as I feel that after all the psychological growth, and maturing that Christine goes through during the whole "Phantom" incident (especially in Susan Kay's novel), they would no longer be a good match, but neither do I care for the Christine/Erik pairings, as I feel that though necessary to one another's growth, they would not a healthy long-term couple make. I mean, lets be honest here, she was still very much a child at the end of the book/play, and he remained an essentially deeply wounded and very disturbed older man.
Anyway, I support anyone who endevours to get rid of all that boring Erik/Christine fan fiction drivle, and hope that your site and it's concept meet with much success! |

Well now I do and I really liked the character of Raoul. I was quite suprised to find that not many other people did...thinking him a pansey. I seriously think that he is a TOTALLY underated character!! I love him in the book, he's so sweet. My only friend who has read the book thinks he's a jerk, and I totally started arguing with her. She said she thought ERIK was sweeter. I asked her how she could think I MURDERER could be sweeter than Raoul! She didn't answer cause she was doing her homework, but I think that standds for itself. | Comments: | Great defense. ITA- Roul is very underated and the poor boy is torn to shreds by fanfic writers. I too believe that he is good man who loved Christine. I think that your "light at the end of the tunnel" analogy is apt and fits with the way G.L. wrote the characters. The best characterization of Roul I have seen was at the end of Susan Kay's Phantom- the part narrated by Roul. Showed his inate honor, courage, maturity, goodness and love for Christine. Personally I think that a tormented (and ultimately beautiful) soul like Erik's might make for a good, heady, passionate love affair but a stable, gentle, dependable, adoring soul like Roul is the stuff a solid marriage and lifetime of happiness is made of.
