I wanted to share with anyone here who might be a fan of Neil Diamond that I just received Stages collector’s box set on this new site called Popmarket.com and saved almost half the cost of what it would cost on Amazon and any other store! Apparently they have daily specials that are heavily deep discounted everyday and today’s feature was Neil Diamond. I think the sale offer expires at noon tomorrow as I noticed yesterday they had a David Brubeck’s box set on sale which is no longer there. Thought I would share with the group here as I can’t find this box set for this price anywhere else! |

Tina has been including me in her email "Photoblasts" which is very nice. So I've been looking at the photos of your trip and when I saw a link to Maggie, thought I'd click on and see what was what...Must say I loved the introductory music. It's a famous piece of course and I know it well but can't remember the name of it. Is it by Bach? It was also interesting reading about your trip on the Strathnaver. It was a similar experience for me but different too, as I had left home for the first time and I was FREE, and Independent, and just 22 years old, so, very exciting! When we landed at Steamer Point in Aden, I hitch-hiked to Crater City and the first car that stopped was driven by the Reuter's News correspondent who took me to his home to meet his wife and have a glass of cold orange. When we docked in Columbo in what was then Ceylon, I set off to hitch hike to an old colonial beach resort called Mt Lavinia. The first car that stopped was driven by the Professor of English at the University, he took me there but we called at his house, so I could meet his wife, have a cold drink, and so he could show me his photos of his student days in Brighton. On board ship there were lots of families but there was a group of us singles in our early 20's so every night was party time. Well I must say it was a nice experience meeting you, Tina and Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing more photographs of the trip. And I'll be writing to Tina and Bill in due course. I expect Tina's really busy sorting out the pictures. Since you were here in Langwathby, the weather has been very extreme. First we had this prolonged heatwave with temperatures around 30 C. Then, this last week or so, torrential downpours, and down to 18 C. Another heatwave has started today. My next trip is to Scotland in September - going fishing to Carradale near Campbelltown on the Mull of Kintyre. (Remember the Paul McCartney hit song?) Well, I must get on with some paperwork now.
