| Comments: | Many thanks to you all for yet another fantastically well organised and enjoyable event. Perhaps next year we will be lying on the cricket club grass once again? |
| Name: | Nick Ham |
| Comments: | I'm intrigued by the 6 years of routefinding errors mentioned by Mrs H. I can't imagine where it would be, considering the course has been different last year and this. Many thanks to the organisers and marshals once again for this annual Calderdale challenge. The early warm sunshine was luxurious. I noticed a marked contrast between dry ground where the snow didn't settle, and flowing water and mud where it did. |

| Comments: | A big thank you to all those who helped out on and before the day. You even managed to hold off the rain until we got back! I would particularly like to thank my fellow joint fastest walker JR Clay for his company and motivation which got us round in an almost perfect time in almost perfect conditions. No shepherd and flock of sheep to hold us up this year ! |
| Name: | Tom Benham |
| Comments: | Many thanks to all the marshals, organisers and volunteers who provided much needed moral support, great butties and a friendly smile during a very tough 37 mile run. |
| Name: | Colin D |
| Comments: | Thanks to all involved for another fantastic Hike. Thanks as ever to the HQ staff, checkpoint marshals, and all the rest of the organising team who make this event happen. However, if you could sort out the sunshine for the end next year it would be appreciated. I missed my annual lie down post Hike on the cricket field. Thanks. |

| Comments: | Entered for the 26 mile walk event again this year. As usual a perfectly organised event. A special thank you to the two young lads at Jerusalem Farm that made an excellent cup of tea, well done lads. Shame the rain didn't hold off all day, but we can't complain about the beautiful sunny start with clear skies for most of the route. To end a perfect and enjoyable day was the certificate with my best ever time. A big thank you to all the staff that put on this great event, see you next year. |

| Comments: | For the last 6 years you poor organisation has meant that dozens of strangers have roamed into my homeyard , having been poorly directed by yourselves. None of the participants like to be turned back (unsurprising) and therefore almost always object, I become the recipient of their anxiety. It's a private track, my home yard : no one deserves strangers disrespecting their privacy in this way. I reported this year after year. You finally attempted to acknowledge and placed small signs yesterday (the eve of the 2013 walk; they were all in the wrong place and directed them off the footpath onto private land and closer to my home. If you had used a map and a brain your error would have been obvious. |

| Comments: | A great day out, and thanks to all the helpers out in the changeable weather all day. I think Hoofstones must have been particularly unpleasant at times, but all the marshals did a brilliant job. |

| Comments: | Sunday 15th April 2012. Yesterday, along with 3 of my Bingley club mates(Andy Nicoll, Ali Raw, and Dave Stephenson)I took part in the Calderdale Hike for the first time. A great event, very well organised and very enjoyable. Had a very nice day out. Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to organise or help in anyway. The kit check marshall was telling me she had been up since 4am. As competitors we often under estimate what goes on before, during and after the day to put on an event like this. So thanks once again to all concerned. Stephen Fry Bingley Harriers |

| Comments: | Chose not to be so ambitious this year, after retiring last year on the 37 mile route, and completed the 26 mile walk along with my son. We had an excellent day, and the banter with the staff at the check points really helped to drive us on. Many thanks for the very well organised event. A very special thank you to Grace, the little girl I met at Jerusalem Farm whose mum said she had helped with the sandwiches, and very nice they were too. |

| Comments: | Thank you for an impeccably organised event yesterday. Everything from the registration to the checkpoints to the food afterwards was seamless, and it made it a pleasure to participate. This is certainly an event I’ll be doing again. |

| Comments: | Calderdale Hike really does get better every year, with excellent food, organisation and friendly marshals. How you organise the weather leaves me speechless. The whole day was as delightful as ever. I hope you are able to correct the error in the results before they are printed and issued. Simon Webb, shown as 8:35 short walker, should be 7:35 long runner. |
| Name: | Zafar Ramzan |
| Comments: | I would like to the organisers of the event. It was outstandingly organised. I would in particular like to thank Tom Brichard and Andrew Webster for their help and support. I look forward to the event next year. |

| Comments: | Did the short route run on Saturday. Very well organised from registration all the way through to the finish. The checkpoint marshalls were excellent and kept me going with biscuits and water throughout the route. Hope to be back next year to step up and run the long route. Many thanks for putting on an excellent event in a great area. |

| Comments: | Excellent event. Thanks to all the organisers and support for yet another challenging CH. The event does improve each year, particularly the volunteers on each and every checkpoint, showing enthusiasm and support when you are a bit weary. Food is now excellent and you've also managed to improve the weather some how! We look forward to it in the walking calendar with some trepidation as it remains one of our main challenges - long may it continue. A bit cooler next year please. |

| Comments: | Tried the 36 Mile route last year (2009) and came up 11 miles short. Not to be detered I came back with more realistic aspirations this year and entered the short walk. Was determined to complete and did so albiet at the back of the field lol. This was not about racing for me but of personal achievement. I even find myself contemplating having a "run" at it next year,we will see :-) Not an easy walk but then if it were it would take away from the challenge. Yes it hurts but the organisation is first class, friendly marshalls that you can have a laugh with makes the day alongside the sarnies biscuits and bananas. Although hurting in the later stages just laughed most of the way around, great day, great weather, can't beat it and all for a measley 12 quid bargain. Many Thanks Calderdale Scouts |
| Name: | Nick Ham |
| Comments: | That's two years in a row with the most perfect weather. I shall always have the most magical memories of this route. The friendly and frequent support was very much appreciated too. I think Calderdale Hike has improved for the better. |
| Name: | Virginia Young |
| Comments: | Thanks for another brilliant Calderdale Hike-how did you manage to organise such wonderful conditions/food etc for the entire day? Hopefully will be back next year. |
| Name: | Jess Palmer |
| Comments: | One of the best events in the calender, faultless organisation, great marshalls, excellent route and fantastic weather, and of course the food... tables groaning under the weight of lovingly made sandwhiches endless choices of sweet, rich chocolate biscuits and not forgetting the start... soft, fresh white bread buns filled with perfectly cooked fried eggs, soft yolk oozing out and across the fingers... This is not just food This is Calderdale Hike food |

| Comments: | Great day out. Superbly organised and very friendly marshalls. Thanks to the lady who let me have tea in her mug! Alos thanks to all those who gave me company, especially from Thievely Pike on when the tired legs set in |
| Name: | Chris Bond |
| Comments: | A great walk, and thanks for organising the lovely weather, though some of the runners seem to think it was too hot! It was a really nice walk and a good challenge which allowed for some swift walking! Might return and enter as a runner next time as the route was very runnable and would have been nice to stretch the legs at some points! Thanks for the great organisation and well manned check points, happy people all the way round giving encouragement was very well received. |
| Name: | Neil Midgley |
| Comments: | Just had a very enjoyable - even though, towards the end, painful - day on the C.H. Thanks to all who organised and supported the event. One minor point - our team carried too much food as it was not clear from the event info leaflet that so much excellent support would be provided. Expected the meal at the end but not all the sandwiches and (dare I say)bananas. I did event in 1979 and 1980 when it was 50 miles around the C. Way. When / Why did it change? (Also entered in 1981 when it was snowed off - compare that with this year's weather!) |

| Comments: | Thanks for the certificate, etc. You have spelt my name wrong on the results list! BANFIELD I have the Heggars Trophy and will get it engraved. I notice that the plaque for 1998 has come off (earthquake damage?). If you let me know who the winner was in that year, I'll have a new plaque done. Regards Martin Banfield PS If anyone is interested I wrote about this year's hike here: http://phreerunner.blogspot.com/2009/04/saturday-18-april-2009-calderdale-hike.html |

| Comments: | A very enjoyable day in the hills, superbly organised, food all the way round and a meal at the end. What more could you ask for, even if the wheels did come off at 22 miles. Roll on next year to get a better time. |
| Name: | John N Clay |
| Comments: | Thanks Nick for spotting the deliberate error on the results sheet. I am sure all the 27 mile walkers would love to have been able to run it, but I will get our webmaster to change the heading 27 mile runners to walkers!! Many thanks for everyone who has taken the time to sign and make comments on our guestbook. John N Clay (Chairman 24th Scouts) |

| Comments: | Great event, great weather, great marshals. Everything came together to make it my most enjoyable CH so far. I shall be back. I've just seen the results. The 27-mile walkers appear to be listed as runners. |

| Comments: | Delighted to add to, and endourse, all the positive comments here. I had a great CH with a couple of experienced runners, never got lost and thoroughly appreciated all the kind and supportive volunteers and marshalls throughout. A great day was completed with a fine meal on the cricket ground in the afternoon, I shall be back next year. |

| Comments: | Superb event in all respects, loved the no fixed route aspect of the event (even if i did nearly miss a checkpoint and needed to backtrack to it lesson learned ;-)) Thanks everybody for me it rates 100% See you next year |
| Name: | Martin Indge |
| Comments: | Thanks for a great well organised event. I'm new to this sort of thing but the course, marshalls, support and weather all made for a great adventure. Thanks again, hope to be back next year. |
| Name: | Jonothan Wright |
| Comments: | I'd just like to add my thanks to all the organisers & marshalls for their time and effort & making it a great event! The food at the finish went down very well also! |
| Name: | Linden Howarth |
| Comments: | I'm one of the organisers and many thanks for your early positive comments: it's good to get feedback and gives us a nice feeling. Regarding the comments about "sticking to the route", "short cuts", and "tarmac" it is made clear at the start that there is no actual route: what is on our map at the start is a "suggested route" only and competitors are free to choose their own depending on their priorities (speed, distance, or just out for a pleasant day). It is a navigation exercise and as long as they visit all checkpoints in the right order then that's fine by us. Hope to see you all next year. |

| Comments: | Thank you for another well organised CH I preferred this year's route to last. I suspect the weather 'coloured' my view A huge thank you to all the volunteer helpers who were universally cheerful and helpful |
| Name: | Phil Brayshaw |
| Comments: | Excellent event - Many thanks to all of those who clearly put a lot of time and effort into organising and facilitating it. The long route proved to be a little too much for us, but we will be back next year for the short route! Cheers Phil |
| Name: | Phil Brayshaw |
| Comments: | I just wanted to say thank you for a really good day out. The event was really well facilitated and my thanks go to those people who clearly put a lot of time and effort into organising it. Although 36 miles turned out to be too much for us, we will be back next year to do the shorter route! Thanks again. |

| Comments: | We came over from Ireland and were made feel most welcome. Really enjoyed the day - well organised. Tea and sandwiches went down a treat with me. Thanks to all who made this such a great event. |
| Name: | Chris Peach |
| Comments: | Thanks to all concerned for putting on a superb challenge. Very well organised with friendly helpful marshalls and supportive fellow participants. I got a real sense of achievement from finishing this. |
| Name: | Martin Gabriel (303) |
| Comments: | Thanks to everyone for a well organised event and for the good food. I ran the 27 mile route. I find it a great shame that people don't stick to the route thats marked on the map at the clubhouse.I enjoy fell and trail running. If people like to take short cuts on the road why don't they go and do a road race! |
| Name: | karen nash |
| Comments: | Had a great time yesterday. The marshalls were excellent and did a good job (Thanks) I now understand that the hike varies it's route each year. Is there always so much on tarmac? this was the one thing that I didn't like |
