| Comments: | Cleo is a 2 1/2 year old Belgian Malinois mix. She is blond and beautiful. 55lbs, muscular and awesome. She knows sit, down, stand, stay, come and leave it. She learns really fast. I was training her to become a therapy dog until we rescued 2 dogs this summer and I lost the time to do so. She is SUCH a great dog. We just cannot keep them all. She would do great in a home with other dogs. She has always done well with all dogs other than our new rescue, it is because we rescued a puppy and her mother. Cleo and the mother fight over "ownership" of the puppy. She loves to play and would LOVE to be in a home with other dogs or kids. She has been around children but I would say that the kids should be over 5 years old to be safe. She is very gentle but I would still use caution as I do not know how she would do alone with a child(you should never leave your dogs and young children alone anyways). I can email pictures. She will stay with us until we find the perfect home. A re-homing fee does apply as we want to make sure that she goes to a great home. She is spayed, microchipped and UTD on all shots as well as heartworm negative and on prevention. |

| Comments: | We were lucky enough to fill out an application to adopt/foster and state that we were looking for a female as we had a male Mal (our GS female 15yrs had passed). We met w/ the home inspector, spoke with the adoption coordinator for this region and after fostering we are the proud and loving owner of a NOW 10 month (now spayed) female. I forgot what it was like to have a puppy as it had been almost 10 years....we adore her and will do it again.

I have a fully cyclone-fenced six-tenths of an acre, a pet door, and two shepherds already, so we'd like to round out our pack with a Malinois (sometimes thought of as the German Shepherd with good hips). | Comments: | I can personally say that Mallinois rescues are wonderful friends and companions. The two of them that I owned I really loved. And when I say wonderful and loyal I can truly think back to the first one that I owned that came out of our local dog pound when he was 3 or 4 months old. I saved him from loosing his life, and when I was electricuted by a powerline after being with him for 5 years he returned the favor. He was a great friend and he is missed greatly!
My second Mallinois I also rescued out of a shelter a few years after my accident and loosing my best friend. She was a great companion toward the whole family (except for the cats!) she really helped to bring us all back around after we lost Mooley. We ended up loosing Cinney with a heart attack after 2 years of love and loyalty. But we can thank her greatly for helping us along the way and leaving us with her pup Krooke. |

| Comments: | My husband and I currently own a belgium mix and we love her. She is highly active though and when we got her we were told that she was an american bulldog mix. Wow were they wrong. Our trainer told us what she was, and we were pleasantly suprised. He has also told us that she is the most stubborn he has seen in a LONG time. He trains a lot of Malinois' for police work. Anyone who is looking for this kind of breed needs to really be patient, and have a LOT of time, they can be a little destructive. They need a LOT of excerise, and LOVE to play ball. Knowing what I know now, I would absolutely own another one. Only next time I would start training a lot sooner than at 5 months, and more like 2-3 months old.

House visit passed with flying colors but found out www.malinoisrescue.org is not the place to get your hopes up. Very disorganized and I got the feeling that the dogs I picked the foster family did not want to give them up.
The first Malinois I picked seemed to meet our family perfect. Then the listing for her changed and they advised she might not fit our home. They advised of another couple that would fit better. I picked one of those was told the dog was already taken. Well both dogs are still listed as avalible. I guess this place just wants people to dream and thats about all I received into our home. |

Anyway, I thought I'd check out what was going on at this site as I hadn't been here in a few months. I was just heartbroken when I read a few hours ago of Sam's disappearance in Washington D.C. :(
Here's the interesting part - no joke: I have a St. Anthony's payer card that I keep at my desk and when I read of Sam's story, I put the card on my computer screen, covered the picture of Sam on the beach with the card, and prayed for her safe return. Then, just a few hours later this afternoon, I checked to see if there were any other stories about Sam being missing (and hopefully any updates about her safe return.) The Google search brought me right back to this site. To my amazement, I just read that Sam has been safely returned to her family! Those who know me would not call me "super religious" by any means. But, when I recieved the St. Anthony prayer card a few weeks ago, I was just compelled to save it, depsite the lack of formal religion in my life. I had no qualms using the paryer card for Sam and her family. So, prayers can be answered, (even for a non-church-going person like me!) Maybe God thought that since I was praying for a Belgian, He'd give me a break. :) Just so happy for Mr. and Mrs. Knight and their being reunited with Sam. I have said it before and I'll say it again...there are dogs, and then there are Belgians!! God bless. Amy |

It has been a while since I saw, in person, a BM and would like to visit a family that has one who lives near us. My history with the BM goes back to the 70’s in Brooklyn, N.Y. when the breed was unheard of. If we find the “right” BM we are willing to adopt it. Loretta and I prefer an adult – age 2-5 – and as of now, we are leaning towards a female because our MinPin is a male. I would appreciate input on this from those of you in my area. | Comments: | I feel blessed to have been adopted by this beautiful dog. In Dec. 2005 I was at my daughter house when she came up behind me as I waited at the door to be opened. I was slighty startled when I looked around because I expected to see my daughter's beagle who I thought had gotten out. I said, "well! where did you! come from dog?" I went in and told my son-in-law about the big dog out side. When I concluded my visit my sil walked me to the door and as we stood ther chstting he said, "look at that big dog behind you." "Yeh, that's the one I was telling you about", I replied. He had to close the door quicly because his dog was trying to get out. As I walked to my car she went to the passenger door and stood there waiting. She looked at the door and then at me and waited, then she looked at the door again and back at me as if to say, Are you going to open this door and let me in or not? She was rack thin and bone weary. I could not refuse such a eloquent but silent plea. She is beautiful, smart, loving, and protective. When I arrived home my black lab greeted her almost like a long lost sister. Other than a couple of squabbles over food which I quickly and firmly put down she has blended in and become a well loved member of our "pack". My grandson John suggested several silly names for her such as killer and othe tough macho sounding names which I refused to consider. We finally settled on the name Berlin because we thought she was german shepard. (John's idea.) I felt that she wasn't truly a german shepard and vaguely remembered something about a smilar looking breed but could not remember the name. Then a local police officer and his belgian malinois made a huge drug bust and the picture clued me in. I googled the name and here I am! My lab is getting pretty old and when she is gone I will probably look to this site for a companion for Berlin. |

So very sensitive, hates 4th of July and new years eve , all the loud noise, no to mention thunder storms. She is quite the omnivore, picks blackberries and sits near me when I am preparing salads. We adopted her from a shelter several years ago as a companion for a older shepard that was dying of cancer. She was totally devoted to him and was so despondant with his passing. My niece rescued Buddy a pit lab mix and she has raised him quite well. I have found she is very devoted to me and extremly protective as well. She looks to my husband as her protecter. | Comments: | I started off with my oldest Mal 3 years ago. He is retired Police k-9 who was turned in to a high kill shelter. Wasn't looking when a strange turn of events led me to him. Fell in love with the breed, and rescued another Mal a year after that - still, wasn't looking when I found him either, but yet another set of circumstances, and you get the picture! Then, a little over a year later, my last (but never final) Mal came into my life. We are still working on her, but know that with love and commitment comes forever love and unwavering loyalty and appreciation. I laugh at people who think these dogs shouldn't be around small children, because not only did I have a small child when I started, but I also did Daycare! These dogs have been great with my kids, and when I was doing daycare, they understood how to be gentle around the smaller ones, as well as the little ones around them. I am absolutely commited to these guys, as they go on vacation with us to the lake every year, and I only rent places that allow us to bring them. They are great teachers, as they are very curious, and can be quite hilarious at times. The "who me?" look stills brings a smile to my face everytime I find a headless toy on the floor. They are wonderful balls of energy, and I highly suggest you be able to match that energy in able to be a Malinois owner. My guys (and 1 girl) go with us to baseball games (that's real interesting, considering the ball drive they have!), t-ball, and family park days. I just can't say enough about these great dogs. They have changed my life, and given me such an education on the health and nutrition values of feeding the BARF diet. I have met a lot of wonderful people through these guys. Looking at the progress I have made with these dogs, I can't imagine not having them in my life. They really have made a difference, and make our family very happy. We will never own another breed! |

I have never been a dog owner, did ALOT of reading before we got him. Still, as prepared as I thought we were, with 3 kids and no fenced yard as of yet, he is a handful! I would just caution those that don't truely have the time and place to work with this breed to not get in over your head. I love our dog and am the main person who works with him daily, but it can be overwhelmed all the same. I will be truely relieved when we can afford to fence in our yard so that I can work with him off leash. I wish I would have waited until we fenced in our yard before getting a dog. Your site is wonderful!!! I come back here time and time again just to look at the beautiful Malinois. I wish them all well with their new owners. |

| Comments: | Our Malinois, Gypsy, was a stray puppy that my vet-tech daughter-in-law found in a small town in Oklahoma. She was sure she was a German Shepard X. We said we'd take her. I have taken her to 2 obedience classes so far. #2 included agility. There was a German Shepard in the class. Needless to say, I began to be embarrassed to say she was a "German Shepard X". I began to search to see what ELSE she might be. I found this website, and I'm sure she's pure Malinois. However, my son and daughter-in-law keep treating me like a nut, saying she can''t be purebred, as who would expect to find a Malinois wandering around lost in a small town in Oklahoma! Thank you for all the pictures and descriptions. At least I know wnat we have!
We had never heard of this breed before. Now that we have experienced it (Gypsy is about a year old now), we are so greatful that we let our daughter-in-law talk us into taking her. A sweeter dog never lived! Keep this great site going! |

At the age of 9 she developed a lower spine problem and was going to be put to sleep by the Government. My wife and I rescued her and gave her 3 of the best years of her life. ( named Digor )trained for Narcotics/Patrol/ Tracker ( tho he is retired from tracking and patrol work ). My friend has 3 trained Malinios that he is taking with him to iraq. i have trained with him and his malinios for some time now and i can say in that time i have come to appreciate the malinios breed, they are truly amazing. So amazing is the malinios that i decided i had to have one, so i decided to see if i could rescue/adopt one . Surfing the net i came across this website so i decided to give it a try. So if anybody is looking for a good home for a malinios pup please keep me in mind. i have a home in the country with plenty of pasture and woods to run around in. Since i work and train with dogs on a dialy basis he would get lots of attention and love. |

She is already a protective guard dog, typically Malinois personality, I feel she needs a home that knows Malinois, because other people can't seem to work with them. My husband worked with, and then adopted, his K-9 malinois "Robbie", and I knew that another Mal is what we needed. This was the only place I could think of to start my search, and within 3 weeks, we had our new boy.
Beau...renamed to "BEAUX" (say it the same, it's a Louisiana play on letters)...has become a wonderful playmate and companion to us, even in the few days that we've had him. The first full day he was here, I wasn't sure if he was going to explode, due to his panting and tail wagging. He eventually calmed down, and now I can barely go to the bathroom without him following me. He definitely knows who his "master" is...he rarely leaves my husband's side. He seems to be adjusting well, and I'm quite happy about it. I would like to thank everyone involved in Beau's adoption....The family that gave Beau up, I know it was a heartbreaking decision, but please know that he is with a family that loves him very much! To Mrs. Caroline...the hours spent on the phone and via email with my husband, and then the road trip to get Beau to us...again, Thank You from the bottom of all of our hearts. | Comments: | A little over a year ago, a malinois puppy showed up on the doorstep of the vet hospital where I worked at the time as a vet tech. I feel absolutely head over hills for him. I didn't have a big enough place to take him home, so I gave him to my mother and stepfather. He's now a healthy and beautiful adult named Rodie. And my mother's pride and joy. He was easily crate trained and picked up on basic commands quickly.
Since bringing him home to my parents, I have dreamed of having one myself. Rodie was such a great partner to my little Sheltie, Charlie Girl. I moved to the northwest Idaho about 4 months ago and really miss being able to see Rodie everyday. So it was a real joy when I recieved a flyer about Monty at the vet hospital where I work now. I proudly posted the flyer on our bulletin board and faxed a copy to my mother in Georgia. I love the website and hope to be considered for possible adoption in the near future. |

| Comments: | My family and I have had our Belgian Malinois for the past 10 years. Last Wednesday the 28th of May she suddenly got real sick and died. The Vet found a toumer by her heart and fluid built up around her heart and slowly cut off her air supply. She died fast and with little pain, thank g-d! We didn't even know she was sick so it was a SHOCK to the whole family. My oldest daughter has had Sammie since she was almost 3. I run a daycare and Sammie was a big help, she watched the kids like they were her own and cleaned the floors after they were done with lunch. All of my daycare parents would say what a great dog she was and we are all missing her so much. Sammie saved my olest from being attacked about 5 years ago. She pulled Lizz to safty. Lizz always says shes her ANGEL!! Belgian Malinois are more then just dogs, they are smart like people and if you have ever had one you know what I mean! Sammie will be missed and if there are any RUNTS out there who needs a good loving home please contact me. We were so lucky to have had this kind of dog as apart of our family! They are very special!!

| Comments: | I rescue retired police dogs and only have the one abandoned DEA Malinois. Apparently, not too many police departments in Texas liked the Malinois outside the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
I have three daughters from the Dutch import male and a police department female Shepherd. These girls will only be happy if they have work as police dogs. Runt is a great "bite" dog who chases and intimidates fleeing suspects. She won't let anyone anywhere near your car. She's four years old and has butterfly ears but otherwise, she is a Malinois! The Twins have never been separated. There is Mamma Twin and Twin. They have perfect Malinois markings except for the underbite and need a lot more love and attention than I can provide. I woudl prefer that they stay together. One is spayed and the largest one is not. They are playful, affectionate, loveable and HATE bicycles, farm machinery, go-karts,joggers and strange dogs. I have a half-Belgian Malinois- Rhodesian Ridgeback who looks like a short, stock Shepherd. Her name is Baby. She is a very sweet dog and I saved her from doggie death row at a shelter. I think she is spayed. She is adorable and like to cuddle. Shadow's Dad was Ike the DEA dog, Mama Twin was the mother. His brother is with an area police department. Nobody wante dShadow. He is very smart and protective! He would be trainable if someone would work with him. Please contact me if you want any of theswe dogs! |

We had 2 rottweilers, one who we had to put to sleep 2 years ago at age 12, and the other who died suddenly just last week at age 13. We loved them both, they were wonderful pets. We are afraid to stay with the same breed, as we had 2 such wonderful dogs. I saw a recent AKC show and watched the herding dog group. The Belgian Malinois caught my eye, and ear. The size seems perfect for us. We are just starting to look, and would like advice or comments from anyone who has adopted a malinois thru this organization. We are hoping to find another dog in the early spring, and are considering several other breeds, as well. My husband is unable to work, and is looking for a dog that isn't high maintenance, but is a good watchdog, intelligent, a good disposition, gets along with cats, and is a good companion. We think the optmum weight for us would be a dog approx. 60 to 75 lbs max. |

Anna is now almost 10 months and we are having a great time in obedience classes together (using only positive reinforcement). She is sensitive, likes to be with us whatever we are doing (we have an 8 year old son and she is great with him) and simply a joy to have as part of our family. We also have three rescued cats and Anna has been terrific with them, not even trying to herd them too much. Now that I have a Malinois I will never want another breed. She is the best!
