Comments:As a postal historian I find unusual items. I have a cover of a letter sent from Austria to Mrs. Fred Astaire in 1949. It was sent to her home in Beverly Hills. Of interest, the letter was censored by the Austrian government. I am willing to sell it if anyone is interested. More details send an email. Thanks Bill Clair

Comments: I have an obsession with musicals. Especially with those of the great MGM musical era. I haven't seen a Fred Astaire movie yet; I'm trying to catch one on TCM someday. I've been lucky to catch many of Gene Kelly's movies. I can't wait to see Fred Astaire's tap dancing in a movie soon.

Comments:I'm sooooo excited that I've come across this website! I thought I must be the only young person in the world who loves Fred Astaire. It is true to say that I have an unhealthy obsession with him and his movies! I own lots of CDs and videos and even found a Fred DVD. I got his autobiography for Christmas and I love it! It shows his true character and he is just as likeable as he is in the movies. He ends it by saying Ï just dance". He is a humble man.I think he has a uniqueness about him that sets him apart from any other dancer. He was always thinking of original ideas for his routines. I also like the fact that he doesn't base his routines on the rules of ballet. I myself hate doing ballet because I hate being told I can't do this or I have to keep my feet out. It annoys me. Another thing that annoys me is the fact that good old musicals have died out. There are no real actors/singers/dancers that I know of, and they could never be the same as those in the 30's and 40's. I always feel I don't belong in this day and age of stupid rap music, and I always wish that I could have lived in the 30's when evryone had sso much talent and life was so sophisticated. One day I'm going to go to New York and see where it all happened for him. Maybe I'll get the chance to meet another Fred fan because I haven't yet. ( sorry for writing so long. I tend to blab!)

Comments:I'm trying to obtain a copy of Fred's 1933 musical Roberta but local Australian distributors sau the movie is not available down here. I was hopeful that you know if there is a Fred astaire fan group in Australia whom I can contact to obtain a VHS copy in this video zone.
As an Australian journlaist I once interviewed Lucille Bremmer, who danced with Fred on a few occasions. She told me that she did not see Fred until the day the sequence was due to be filmed. Hermes Pan did the dance routine inially, then stepped aside to let Fred do the final scene, which she said was "perfection". She told me that Arthur Freed made some impossible demands on her so she quit MGM and ended up marrying the Mexican Ambassador to the US and lived until her recent death in La Jolla.

Comments:Fred Astaire was the man! Debonair and light on his feet but also had a smooth voice!

For all of those who like his films, be aware that Time Warner will NOT be putting his films on DVD. Please write Time Warner and let them know we want them! They own the rights to his work. Without he and Ginger being on DVD they may be lost to future generations.

Pass it on please!

Comments:It is lovely to know there are other Freddy fans out there, and how much affection he still commands.

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience of A Tribute to F.A by his daughter Ava at the London Palladium back in February this year, and it was just like one huge fan club convention for this genius of a man. His daughter Ava sat on stage throughout, introducing various stars who remembered well her Dad, including Cyd Charisse, Jane Powell. Just to be under the same roof as someone who had danced with Fred, and be just a matter of yards away from these icons of the cinema was incredible. An event I will never forget as an evening like that will never happen again.

I am also fortunate to have Fred & Ginger's autograph. All the films they made together, and almost all the films that Fred has made. I also have many books, drinking glasses and other memorabilia that is depicted of Fred.

I would be delighted to hear and correspond with other FA devotees, as my husband has resigned himself to realising he is not the only man in my life !

Comments:I am just so estatic to know that in the times of Britney
Spears and N'sync that there is still a young generation so
deeply effected by such a wonderful man. Watching Fred
Astaire dance is by far one of the most inspiring things in
the world. Looking at his fantastic amount of fans and the
effect Mr. Astaire has had on so many people just goes to
show how one mans talent and ambition can change the
world. Thank you for creating such an amazing site where
people can enjoy one man's dreams.

Comments:I've always loved this man since the first time I saw his old movies on Tv while I was growing up. I have all of his early movies from the 30s with Ginger Rogers, and some from the 40s as well. I'm sure he never knew the impact he would have on people for generations. He may not have been perfectly handsome, but with all his charm and style, he didn't have to be. Without even the slightest effort he could charm most women (myself included) out of their seats!! His dancing spoke for itself...what a wonderful talent! I've always loved his voice and singing style as well, and I'll never know why more hasn't been said about this. There was something in his voice when he sang...the phrasing and delivery, that was so very unique. What justice he did to those beautiful Cole Porter songs! I could go on and on...(((hugs)))...Karen

Comments:I love Fred Astaire! I am 23 years old and I have loved
Fred for several years now. The first movie I saw him in
was Follow The Fleet. After that I was hooked. I believe
beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was the best
singer/dancer/actor ever but in addition to that he was
attractive in way that tugs at my heart and makes me
dream. That's it! My favorite thing about him is his
dreamy eyes. In his movies he was always so very perfect
and sure of himself. My favorite of his movies
surprisingly is not a "Fred & Ginger" flick. My favorite
Fred Astaire movie is Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn. I
think that Fred Astaire is handsome, beautiful and all
around perfect.

say....Fred Astaire was a genius and was the best
dancer/actor/singer from the 30s and 40s. When I saw him
singing "Cheek to Cheek" in TOP HAT, I knew I was hooked. I
love his voice and I love the way he dances. I'm only 17
years old and I get teased by friends because of how old
his movies are, but I don't care. I think Fred Astaire was
amazing and to watch him dance and sing is the best. It's
nice to see that I'm not the only one who still thinks he's
great!!!!

Comments:Man, Fred Astaire is so cool. My grandmom loved him and now
so do I. I think he is really cool. My mom, however, is
always making comments about him. I've read his
autobiography so many times, I can recant so many incidents
in his life. If any of u haven't read it yet, check it out!
It's called "Steps In Time". All my friends agree that I'm
living in the wrong time frame; I should have lived in the
time period of Fred. Mr. A is really cool. My mom is now
saying I should have been one of his dance partners; I
probably was, she says! He inspired me 2 learn tap dancing.
He is always gonna be the top in his field!
