Yes of course there is a flute CD of John's music - by our very own Jim Horn, who spent so many years touring with John. Find it here at Amazon.

Comments:JD is about ten years older then me, when I was young and starting my career as an artist (painter) he was always an insperation to my work and is today as well. He help connect me to nature and all its beauty. Even today as I paint the more common place things in the woods, farms and orchards where I live, trying to show how important even the common place things in nature are, I think of him often.

I do not know why some dislike his music (but that is thier choice) what I do not understand is the anger that often comes from those who do dislike him or his music. He was a person just like all of us. He had a message of hope and peace, perhaps that scared some, perhaps he made some feel quilty, but then that is thier problem.

Comments:Dear friends,
First of all, sorry for my english. My name´s Eduardo, I´m 40 and I live in Madrid (Spain). When I was just 12 my brother used to keep me listening to "our dear Johnny" (this is how he used to call JD) hours and hours, day by day during some months. Time was passing and our musical likes were changing, but JD´s songs staied in ours mind for long so I used to spend several saturdays mornings listening to John Denver.
I was a teenager and, around me, it was hard to find some JD´s funs, just my records/types, my walkman way to college. Sometime I found some programme on TV.

I went to university, left it, girlfriend, friends, army, wedding, sons, etc... but John Denver´s songs were allways on my mind. Full of hits, JD get 50´s and, oh god, how I cried his dead!!!. My teen music hero died!!!.
This years came and today, Augost,31 I´d like to tribute JD listenings his song for long hours.
I don´t know what else to say... John Denver is the greatest Nature Ambassador, and the message that he left us in his songs will remain in our minds for ever. God bless you, John, and I hope to enjoy your music again at Heaven. Thanks, JD.
My best wishes for all JD friends and funs all around the world.

Comments:Ive been a JD fan all my life. My dad was a huge fan and Ive grew up with his music. Im 27 now and Im really suprised that johns music hasnt been copied/ covered by other major artists that are big in the jmusic industry now. JD has written some of the best songs ive ever heard. I guess some people are yet to discover the gem in John's music.
I have just found a cover of Poems, prayers and promises on youtube. Its sung by a women and its very good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K83FWHYVnOk

If anyone has any similar links then please can you post them to me (on here)

Also, I am getting a JD tattoo next week. Im getting the words... "My spirit will never be broken or caught" also "my body is merely the shell of my soul" on my back...

Any other suggestions for a JD tattoo.??

Message to Amelie,

Due to many circumstances like a move 2 yrs ago and another computer, this guestbook seemed to be locked for me to ever manage again until now... I finally made it back in here and immediately deleted the entry you told me about.

Thank you so much

Comments:I think first of all that John was a Great American and he said so in many ways.
What irritates me is when the news media puts Michael Jackson on a pedistal when he is a druggie and in my opinion had very little talent.
John Denver had great talent and I believe sold many more records/cd's that Jackson.
I enjoy comparing John and Elvis as being good people and had very few hang-ups.
I feed sad that John and Elvis had to die so soon.

Does anyone know if I amy purchase the musical tracks, without the lyrics of John and the music is by John and his bands?
Thanks,
Wayne

However, if I mention his music to anyone or try to strike up a conversation all I get are condensending remarks. Does anyone have an answer to this?

Is there any CD that has John's music played by flute -- I love his work, but feel very sad when I hear him singing now. His voice was very flute-like, and I wondered if any flutist has put together a CD. Thank you.

Comments:Hello, I finally took time out to get into my hero's guestbook. I'm most anxious to read the poems that others have composed, though no one can take common, every day words and confect a beautiful set of lyrics like he could. He's been my hero ever since the first day I heard "Take Me Home Country Roads." I believe in everything he stood for; I admire him both for the contribution he made to music and also for the stands he took against those who were against his beliefs. It was years after he passed away before I could even listen to his music, and it still hurts to listen to it even after all this time. Thank you for creating this tribute to a remarkable man.

Comments:The other night I saw the old PBS special on John Denver and it brought back so many memories, but one in particular that insured forever a place for John Denver in my heart.

I was a Psychological Operations officer in Vietnam, young and heady. One evening at Camp Eagle I went to the motor pool to ready our truck for a mission the next day, but it was not there.

One of my teams of enlisted men had used it for what was to be a short mission that morning. But now it was evening and they had not returned.

I went to their hooch and found it so empty. I knew deep down inside that I had lost four good young men, one with a little baby. For a while I puttered through their things, wishing they were there.

One of them had a small reel-to-reel tape recorder and I absentmindedly turned it on. The words and melody that came out on that darkest of nights were, "Guess he'd rather be in Colorado."

I listened to it over and over again and in some way I knew things would be all right. John's crystal clear voice assurred me that my men were going to be all right.

The next morning, as we prepared a search missin for the team, they came hobbling in through the back gate having had to spend the night in a ditch and hide the truck as firefights raged around them.

I have ever been and ever will be a fan. Though I did not know John, he enriched my life and I am grateful. I have only told a few people this story. Thank you for letting me express my gratitude.

Comments:John Denver was not only a singing super star, he was also an accomplished photographer. We are offering on E-Bay as item 150296293591 a color photograph taken by John Denver which was first displayed at the C.G. Rein Galleries in Denver in 1983. This extremely rare piece of photo art is just a little spooky because it is of the space shuttle Challenger and now both are gone. It measures 19.25 x 13.5 inches. It is hard mounted on a boxed 1/2 inch gallery quality backing with ready-hangs built in and with original C.G. Rein tags and is of course signed and dated by John Denver himself. The proceeds from the original sale at the Gallery were donated by John Denver to the Windstar Foundation. John is gone but you can own a piece of his art as he touched this himself, it will touch you emotionally as well. My photograph of his photograph for this listing is not as sharp, colorful, or beautiful as the original which you would be purchasing. Go to ebay and see for yourself.

Comments:I have always enjoyed John Denver's songs, and being from Fort Worth, Texas have had the honor of hearing about John Denver all my life, however, while that was not my music of choice as a teen, I recently bought a CD of John's and have been listening to it everyday, I am drawn to his voice and the great feelings his songs give my heart. Now I'm not sure what is happening, but I have this overwhelming feeling that I have known John ALL my life, which will be 43 years July 9th, 2008. I can actually feel his feelings through his songs, sadness, happiness, excitment, and love for the mountains and Colorado.....I only wish I had had the honor of being able to meet him while he was still here with us, what a great man. I don't live far from "Arlington Heights High School" where he graduated and it is so sad some of the things he endured while a student there from other classmates....kids can be so cruel. I have read about a party he once through and NO one showed up...and how no one talked to him at school, unitl he played his guitar one day. It is great to see that he overcame that time in his life and what a profound impact he has made and is still making on so many people and I am sure he will continue to impact peoples lives, as his songs have done for me this past week, in many years to come. He had such a wonderful zest for life and God graced him with as wonderful voice & heart to be able to touch so many though his songs. God bless you John and I know you are in a wonderfully great place now.

Comments:I listened to John Denver as much as anyone else did on the top 40 radio stations, my favorite was his dedication to Jaques Cousteau - Calypso. he captured a host of experience in that song. But still, he was just another great pop singer until.....

My cousin and i did a trip to Harpers Ferry WV, on the confluence of the Shenandoa & Potomac Rivers, looking around at the mountains, He sang to me... Loudly in my mind, a personal performance that shook me to the core. To this day i cannot think of that moment without tears.

Visit Harpers Ferry, and think of the lyrics of "Country Roads" i truly believe you'll have a spiritual experience.
i had to share that with someone.

Comments:To J otruck: The name of the song you're referring to is "The Scotsman". Here are the lyrics:

Title: John Denver - Scotsman lyrics

Artist: John Denver

TITLE: The Scotsman

Well, a Scotsman clad in kilt, left a bar one evening fair,
and one could tell, by how he walked, that he'd drunk more than his share,
he fumbled round until he could no longer keep his feet
and he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street

Chorus: Ring ding diddle diddle i dee oh,
Ring di diddly i oh,
(repeat last line of previous verse)

About that time two young and lovely girls just happend by
and one said to the other with a twinkle in her eye
See yon sleeping Scotsman so strong and handsome built
I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt

(Chours)

They crept up on the sleeping Scot as quiet as could be,
And lifted up his kilt about an inch so they could see,
And there behold for them to view beneath his Scotish skirt,
Was nothin' more than God had graced him with upon his birth.

(Chorus)

They marvelled for a moment then one said we must be gone,
Let's leave a present for our friend before we move along.
As a gift they left a blue silk ribbon tied into a bow,
Around the bonnie star the Scot's kilt did lift and show.

(Chorus)

Now the Scotsman woke to nature's call, and stumbled for a tree,
Behind the bush he lifts his kilt, and gawks at what he sees,
And in a startled voice he says, to what's before his eyes,
Ah*, lad I don't know where ya been but I see ya won first prize.

Hope this helps you out!

Comments:Going through some tough times now. John's poetic lyrics and beautiful melodies still evoke memories of happier days and, to a degree, of hope. Like John, I lost the love of my life just recently. "I'm Sorry", his beautiful and heart-touching tribute to all he had lost, could have been written by me.

I AM a composer. A writer. A professor with many publications. But I would have been the most proud should I have left the world with this gem.

John Denver has lived in my heart for a long time. I met him once when I lived in Alaska. A more sincere man is hard to find. He cared about us and this earth. He cared about life. He lives with God (the Great Spirit, as I am half Native American) and he looks to us to carry on his caring. Bless us all.

Comments:Sorry, me again! Anyone remember the time John sang an old UK folk song about a double bed? Something about The Rain it Was A-Raining. He sang it with a faux-English accent and it was very funny. Something to do with marital difficulties, a double bed, and the rain raining constantly. It might have originated from Bernard Cribbens or Kenneth Williams.

So glad John denver copped it in a plane crash 10 years ago! Perhaps it crashed because he was always a lightweight!! Anyway his songs were dross and like Dan Fogelberg he just seemed to be imitating James Taylor.

Tough Shit Denver! You became fish food!!

Comments:Just calling by to let people know that Sylvia Airlie of Leeds, England, passed away in early July 2007 and was cremated on 16 July. I have only just found out after trying to contact her today, so I'm still a bit shocked. I know she had penpals in the US (Patty Peavey in Utah was one, but I can't quite recall the other names)- she and I went to many John Denver concerts together, and, seeing as I wasn't informed of her death I presume the people she wrote to won't know either! We used to be in touch with Carole and Pete Watson from Manchester (lost touch since they moved recently too) and Meg Hough, who moved to Scotland...

Sylvia's husband died last September - they played The Wings That Fly Us Home at his funeral, and I would guess she wanted it played at hers too, but I have no way of finding out!

Comments:Hello;

Re: Wild Horse and Burro Gather

I am looking for ways to help with the fund for wild horses and burros - this is currently done exclusively through BLM. There are too many horses and burros and not enough land for them to graze on - any programs to furnish food and space to these animals come directly from the taxpayers pockets.

My brilliant idea is to find funding alternatives that would put money into this program. I immediately thought of the lyrics to 'Ponies' and also 'Eagles And Horses' ('Im Flying Again').

I wonder how one goes about contacting the John Denver Trust, if such a thing exists, to get permission to use his songs, recordings, lyrics, images, etc. Whatever would help to get the attention of the plight of these animals.

Here is the website for the wild horse gather - it is July 25th, not much time to find ways to help...
http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/info/newsroom/2007/06/public_invited_to0.html

This is the website for more information on the gather:
http://www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov/index.php

I will continue to try to find ways to assist this program. I welcome any suggestions.

Sincerely,
Linda Cox

Comments:I loved John & his songs for many years, on his death I wrote this poem, it was a very sad day for me.

J.D.

Annie's song will never sound the same
The Flower That Shattered The Stone won't bloom again
Poem's, Prayers and Promises that you can't keep
And all I do this fateful day is weep
I met you once when you were in my land
You spoke to me and then you shook my hand
I went to many concerts, where you sang
I loved your music and I loved the man
I feel as if I've lost a special friend
Will this raw pain and heartache ever mend!!
But through your music I'll keep your memory
And I will never forget you. Dear J.D.

Val.

And I do still keep his memory, in the songs that I play, every day. Val

Comments:Hi everyone!
Does anyone remember a John Denver special from the late '70s in which JD talks about one of his favorite poems; "I Will Not Go Back!" I don't remember the author of this poem but the first few lines are something like:
Out of the mist of time
Out of the ooze and slime
Out of the dreadful dawning of the earth I came
And I will not go back.
Anyone know which TV special this was?

Also, a friend of mine is painting a picture of John and he asked me what color John's eye were. For the life of me, I can't remember. In every picture I find they look brown. Is that correct?

Hope United Methodist Church
700 Cooper Road * Voorhees, NJ 08043

I've been to the church and it is simply state-of-the-art and beautiful! Built in 1990, their sound system is outstanding! It's quite spacious and parking is terrific.

As always, there will be lost of John Denver material, too. He'll probably do some songs by other favorites like Dan Fogelberg and James Taylor so don't miss it!

Comments:THANKS for this guestbook. I saw John for the first time in '74 in Philly, then in Des Moines in '82, Spokane in '84, Morrison, CO in '88, Mountain View, CA in '90, and Wilson, WY in '96. Every time was a memorable, lovely evening, as his songs, sound, and point of view have been very important to me--in my life and in my own music. There isn't a voice in the mainstream like his anymore, and that's sad because during the ongoing environmental meltdown we need such voices and advocates now more than ever. But we were lucky to have his voice and songs and gigs for as long as we did...and they're thankfully kept alive on CD and in memory. This is a nice page, thanks for making it happen.

I feel blessed to take up such a calling as writing these books about Darcy Farrow. John Denver's version was very well done. And I hope all of you get a chance to read my novels and feel a little of John Denver in each chapter.

Feel free to email me or go to my websites at www.darcyfarrow.com or look at my other novels at www.timechronicles.com.

I am looking to find the cd or recording that contains one of his lesser played songs which I only heard a few times and don't even know the name of.... It seems to be an Irish bar song or bawdy tune of some sort..... It is about a fellow who falls asleep or passes out under a tree and wakes up with a ribbon tied around his "privates" the last line goes something like this ".... I don't know where you've been old boy.. but at least you won first place" Any help locating this would be greatly appreciated.... Please emai me thanks.....

Comments:13 OCTOBER 2004 (day after seven-year anniversary of Denver's death in 1997)

Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. was a great singer to those who liked him. Some of my favorite songs are "Heart to Heart", "Annie's Song", "My Sweet Lady", "Seasons of the Heart", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Wild Montana Skies" with Emmylou Harris, "Perhaps Love" with Placido Domingo, Matthew, "On the Wings of a Dream", "Fly Away", etc., etc., etc., fans of the son of USAF officer Henry John Deutschendorf, Sr. I don't want to go on forever of naming my favorite songs.

The "Oh God" motion picture with George Burns is at times funny and at times serious (serious by the persecuation Denver's character gets from the people for him seeing and talking with God).

To close my remarks of his man, John Denver did "...fill up [our] sences like a night a forest, like the mountains in springtime..." and so on in his "Annie's Song".

Stars and peaks, the wonder of it all, knowing that the world is in a biological melt-down, that it grows by a quarter of a million people daily, that violence and war is still the preferred way of doing conflict, but the beauty of the night and the JD soundtrack can inspire some fleeting hope, if only for the ride home.

Comments:Hey, all!
I too, am a huge John Denver fan. I miss his earthly presence, but still feel so much joy in listening to his music, his incredible voice. And for me, he is very much still a part of this earth! FYI--- In case anyone is interested, the correct lyric for "Summer" from Season Suite are as follows:
Silently the morning mist is lying on the water,
Captive moonlight waiting for the dawn.
Softly like a baby's breath a breeze begins to whisper,
the sun is coming , quick you must be gone.
Smiling like a superstar the morning comes in singing,
the promise of another sunny day.
And all the flowers open up to gather in the sunshine,
I do believe that summers here to stay.
And oh, I love the life within me, I feel a part of everything I see, And oh, I love the life around me, A part of everything is here in me...

Just the first verse gang,.. If you want more, you gotta listen to the music! :-)

Peace, all!

until this summer -still can't believe he won't come to England again, to sing for his many friends here, for that's how we felt, to be present at his concerts!
I campaign for wildlife, in Britain,to protect vulnerable species from hunters! I once gave John a sweatshirt with a message on the front, from our group, after a concert,in Cornwall! He was so gracious and kind -an amazing man! Sandy.

Comments:It is so great to come and read and feel a part of sometrhing greater than myself. Thanks fdor having me and making me feel so welcome. I think that the one thing John taught me (there were so many things) that I try to do often it to try not to let litter get in the way of natural beauty. I walk the beach and pick up what careless people leave behind. When I look back and the beach is clean again I just know John smiles.

I also belong to a group that picks up litter beside the road im Smokey Point. Have not had much luck getting together but I keep trying.
So remember that the music lives in all of us and it is growing even now.
I am learning the guitar and I want to play al of John's songs. Wish me luck...
I will check back often. So glad to find you.e

Comments:I have been a John Denver fan for many a year and like John his lessons on life has taught me also to fly on the wings of an Eagle. So many wonderful things John helped me to learn throughout my lifetime cannot be counted. His songs have comforted me many times over when troubles fell upon me but they also have given me many years of joy, he had the type of voice that could make one happy at any given time as his songs were so uplifting. Our world lost a very loving and caring individual, loving all human kind and caring for a world he tried limitlessly to improve.
Sleep well John, but know too we truly miss you amons't us. Your devoted friend and fan Doreen

A great thing happened yesterday! I was shopping in a tiny grocery store here and while I was waiting in the checkout line Perhaps Love came on the store's PA! I had been stressing about the language barrier when I was going pay, but for a couple minutes my heart was lifted and all I had was happy thoughts. Our guide is also a huge fan of JD and says he will sing us a song on the bus before we leave. I can hardly wait.
Thanks for listening to a homesick Texas girl!

Cuatro perros me aman en la manera que un perro nunca debe amar una mujer. Es un amor horible y bonita. Mis pantalones huelen como un pescado que murio hace mucho tiempo.
