I was probably one of the first children ever adopted in the orphange called Los Pisingos and I know I was given a second chance in life. While looking at old adoption papers the other night, i decided to go to your website...i am so glad i did.I was born in Bogota. My birth name is Maria Liz Bernal. I was born 1-1-82. After my adopted parents got me, my name has changed to Diana Maria Engellau. I have never really attempted nor seriously considered trying to contact or learn much about my biological parents. The thought, more recently, has come up. I was adopted by a Swedish father and an American mother. After bogota, I was brought back to Sweden where i lived for a few years, after that we moved to Bangladesh, due to my parents job with the UN. Four years later we moved to California. I lived there most of my life and now have just graduated from Arizona State University. I am not sure what i hope to get out of this email except that if you are considering adoption, i must tell you that it is one of the most amazing gifts you can give. I have lived a very priviledge life and would never change a thing of my past. I love my parents so much and am so very grateful. | Comments: | It's really nice to know that poeple are adoption from Columbia. That is where my parents where born. I was taken away from my mother and father when I was just three years old. I was adopted when I was ten yeas old. I had to wait five years to be adopted. I hope that more poaple will want to adopt more kids. A lot of babies,infants,kids,teenager need homes. People should adopt because then they know that they are caring for a kid, loving it,giving it a home, providing food for that child. What a great feeling that is to know that you made a huge difference in that childs life. Many people have adopted or are adopted. I know seven people who are adopted and have a wonderful life.

I was adopted when i was 9 or 10 year's old from Los Pisingos. I loved that place, because when i went there it was like my home. I been through really hard stuff but I am still learing how to figure how too. I live in Minnesota, at first when i came here to the United States is was weird because i've never seen snow in my life because i just lived in a warm place. I'm happy where i am because i never thought i would have a family in my life, but i do now. But i am still learing to speak English, wow i never thought english was hard to speak. Is way different then Spanish.
Well I was trying to fine information about Los Pisingos and see how all the kids are doing. But instead i got here to read everyone's stories and when i read them i was sad because i am happy to hear stories like this. I just hope sometime i well come down there and try to fine my sister or my family. I know everything down in Colombia is not going good but i just hope everyone in my life are still there somewhere. Thank for for everything if anybody reads this that new me or something. |

I’m sending this in the empty hopes that maybe she will read it. Strangely enough, I have never expected my biological father to want me, but my mother? I’m a brown girl born 1-1-81. Adopted by a white family who have given me the best life I have/could ever wish for. But there is something…..Lost….some pain some where. I don’t know why or where it comes from but I think here. I NEED to know WHO I AM! I want to know Who she is, who he is, if she likes to weave, if there are family stories, if there is a family. I want to know if I have sisters/brothers, I want to know her hopes, dreams, sadness. I want to know who I look like Her or him. And why I’m so load, and emotional. I feel emotions to the max….but why? In my heart, I hope she doesn’t read this. She might think I’m crazy, sick, sad, or ….I want the first time she thinks of me to be a good one. I want her to see a picture of me with a smile as a senior in college. So why do I send it? Because it’s going to be lost to the Internet. In the falseness there is a glimmer of hope. |

I was blessed because I was born in a rich family, but everyday of my life I see the poor children on the streets of Bogota as you said, asking for some money or food. It is very sad. I hope that many Europeans adopt and make happy those children born with no opportunities at all. Colombia is going through a very difficult situation, and is getting worse by the day. | Comments: | Wij hebben op 5 november 2000 twee jongetjes uit polen geadopteerd. Het is een tweeling,dus erg uitzonderlijk. Ze waren op dat moment 2 jaar en 1 dag oud.Inmiddels zijn ze al bijna twee jaar bij ons en het gaat echt uitstekend. Ze ontwikkelen zich optimaal en zijn super lief. Nog een paar daagjes en dan gaan ze naar de kleuterschool, wel spannend hoor! Zelf vinden ze het het einde.
Het lijkt ons erg leuk om in contact te komen met mensen die ook uit polen geadopteerd hebben of nog gaan adopteren. We kunnen het in dat geval ten zeerste aanraden. |
