No motel rooms were available within 100 miles due to events at Marysville, etc. My son and I planned to hang around and get acquainted with the railfan sites. We have been meaning to visit Marion for some time and were passing through on the way home from Oxford.
If we come visit for a weekend, is there a place we can come and make contact with local fans such as yourselves, and get advice on the best watching and photography spots in Marion area? My wife is involved with a group that has been instrumental in turning the old Erie Dayton Branch into a bike path. They just this week became owners of the Pennsy Depot in Urbana. They are looking to do as much restoration as their resources will allow. In that vein, I would like to solicit any info, photos or other documentation on the structure in Urbana. they also along with the Champaign County Preservation Alliance are restoring an NX-23 CABIN CAR (in deference to MR.
