It is really good to hear from you!! My 2x's great grandfather was James D Murphy from Smith County NC. James D was 3/4 white (his mother Fannie Murphy was half white and half black) she was born in 1836 and James D father's last name was McMillian (he was 100 % white). The only information I have on him was his son became a Doctor [Dr. Frank McMillian]and he taught James D how to read. I can provide additional information if you would like. I am helping an 86 year old friend trying to get into the DAR on Richard Murfee. DAR willnot accept the transcribed will as proof of his residence in Southampton county, VA. Hello, I am interested in my Crane family history and my line through Jasper is through his son Azariah and his grandson Azariah Crane II. One of his descendants, my 5th great-grandfather was an officer in the continental army. He fought in the battles of Princeton and Trenton alongside Alexander Hamilton. His son Joseph S. Love your website. I am looking for information on a Bessie Murphy who was born about 1827 in Ireland. She married John Splain, born in Ireland about 1823. It is said that they met on the boat coming over to the USA and got married. Many children, but my line would be from their son John C Splain who married Hattie Shifflett, whose daughter Celia Mae Splain was born in 1894. Celia is my Grandmother, who died in 1938. Thanks for any info you may share.

Virginia. Married Anna Duckwall Madden 02/22/1831. Do not no where they where married or where in Virginia David was born. Anna Duckwall was born 09/10/1809 to Joesph Duckwall and Lydia Dimitt in Berkley Springs, Morgan County Virginia. They bought property in Fairfield County Ohio in Hocking Township in 1831. Anna Duckwall had a son John Madden from her first marriage to Samuel Madden in Berkley Springs. Thank you for sharing the information you have. I'm very new at this and appreciate seeing what more experienced genealogists are doing. Although my mothers maiden name was Murphy, my line separated from yours at Simon Sr. in the early 1700's. I am a descendant of his son Simon Jr. If I could bother you to ask for advice -- What is the best way for a rookie like me to get documentation? Especially for pre 1800's? I see huge variations on dates, places, etc. for individuals. Many times I think people are confusing generations or duplicating people. I really don't expect to just have things handed to me, but I'm not sure where to go to get them myself. Thank you. (I don't have a website or anything yet, but if you would like any information I have, though nothing compared to yours, it will be shared gladly.) | |
