I am a U.S. PARALYMPIC SWIMMER. I wear ONLY TYR SWIM SUITS. Being Norse and German, TYR is very important to me as an athlete. The Political agendas and medical ignorance of the entire paralympic entity both domestic and abroad have been trying in vain to keep me out of world competition, namely, the Paralympic Games, tho i am a record holder, and numerous gold medalist. Tho i am a devout Christian, and Christs cross is forever seared on my heart, it is the symbol of TYR, that i use as my calling card at events. After the U.S. Parlympic trials in april of 2008, when i makde the team, TYR'S symbol will be tattooed on my back, as i wage for battle against the corruption, and injustices put on SO MANY TALENTED SWIMMERS. It is their right to compete if they make the cut, and not being allowd to do so because of egos and ignorance should not be tolerated. So it will be TYR, AND I SWIMMING FOR JUSTICE, EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY ARM.(because of my disease, i dislocate my shoulder every race, and each time this happens, I lose more and more function and eventually, if not put back in the socket, i will lose blood supply to the arm and hand, and it will die, causing an amputation to be necessary.) If this is the price to be paid, then so be it.

The beginning of the campaigning season in March had been
marked by the dancing of the Salii through the streets (p.
85), the Equirria (p. 89), the Quinquatrus and the
Tubilustrium (p. 92), so its end in October saw the
ceremonies of the October horse and the Armilustrium when
the army had to be purified from the dangerous infection
that it may have incurred from contact with bloodshed and
strangers. This was a festival in honour of Mars; his
Salian priests probably once again danced and sang through
the streets, during the sacrifices tubae were sounded, and
the arma and ancillia were purified and then put away
until the next year. It appears from Plutarch and Varro
that the lustratio was performed on the Aventine 'ad Circum
Maximum' in an open space called Armilustrium (it lay south
of the church of S. Sabina), the Aventine possibly being
the last point in the procession of the Salii. note 261
An entry in the Praenestine calendar seems to apply to
20 October, but it could be a note to the previous day's
Armilustrium. It runs '[...] sanguinem gustare antea
frequenter solebant' (they frequently used blood to taste
blood before'). This presumably refers to the tasting of
blood from the sacrifice, a practice which had apparently
ceased by the time of Augustus when the calendar was
composed.

The Parilia This day (NP), is for special religious
observance.This is the traditional day on which Rome was
founded by Romulus. On this day Romulus defined the walls
of the city by plowing a line encircling and area of flat
ground between the seven hills. This was the same path that
young eligible bachelors would run, around the Palatine
hill, on the Lupercalia.
This day is sacred to the god Pales, after whom the
Palatine hill is named. Pales is identified as a
personification of Mars. On this festival day, feasts were
held, and fires were made from olive wood, pine, savine,
laurel and sulphur. Cattle were made to walk through the
smoke as a means of lustrating, or purifying them. The
sacral meal of this day included cakes of millets and
buckets of fresh milk. After the feast, milk would be mixed
with heated wine (sapa), and the people would leap through
the flames of night-time bonfires. According to Ovid these
fires would be made of bean-straw and arranged in a row,
and the people would run and jump over each one.

The Tubilustrium

This day (NP), is for special religious observance.
The Tubilustrium is the fifth day of the Quinquatrus. On
these days the trumpets (tubae) were lustrated. This day
was sacred to Minerva (Athena), the patroness of trumpets.
The month of March belongs to the warlike Mars, the deity
who personifies the protection of the state and the
productivity of the community.
This is the twenty-third day of the Festival of Mars. The
daily spectacle of the priests of Mars leaping and dancing
through the streets of Rome would continue this day.
This was the eighth day of a nine-day fast for the Romans,
leading up to the Day of Blood.

This day (NP), is for special religious observance.
This day had a religious and military significance, and
rites were performed involving purification of the army.
This day is sacred to Mars and was a festival day. This is
the second Equirria, the first being on February 27th.
Horse races were also held on this day, on the Campius
Martius, the field of Mars.
Mamurius, the old Mars, was often associated with, and
honored, on this day. A scapegoat was driven out of the
city on this day, symbolic of expelling the old and
bringing in the new.
The month of March belongs to the warlike Mars, the deity
who personifies the protection of the state and the
productivity of the community. This is the forteenth day of
the Festival of Mars. The spectacle of the priests of Mars
carrying shields while leaping and dancing through the
streets of Rome would continue this day.
On this day, the day before the traditional first full
moon of the new year, a man dressed in goatskins would be
ceremonially chased out of the city in a rite of
purification.

This day had a religious and military significance, and
rites were performed involving purification of the army.
This day is sacred to Mars, as is the whole month of
February. This is the first Equirria, the second being on
March 14th. And again, being at the end of the original
Roman year, and preceding New Year's Day on March 1st, made
this and the following days especially representative of
rebirth, renewal and full of the promise of the coming
Spring.
The famous horse races in honor of Mars were held on this
day on the Campius Martius (the field of Mars). Romulus
instituted this tradition to herald the beginning of the
sacral year.

Mars Pater, I rejoice at your return. Bring to us a new
year of peace and prosperity as we honor you.
