There, scrawled upon it in a messy hand were the words: "Caius Asinus Est." 'Caius is a fool?' thought Mucius. 'What a strange thing for someone to write! And how terrible, right on the sacred Temple of Jupiter.' Who was this Caius person, and who dared to defile this holy temple? |
"I am Casius. The gods wrote this here, though I do not know why. Others have tried to guess, but all have been killed. You will be next. And Casius charged, with a gargantuan sword held high. A bloodcurdling shriek echoed through the alleyway, but those who heard it took no notice. Except one old, withered man. Man:Well, well! It seemes that Casius has claimed another victim! I guess I better go clean up the mess. There won't be much solid matter, after Casius got him. |
abilitities as long as he defended the weak and lived a true and honorable life. Alas one day in a fit of fury he killed an innocent child while trying to attack a lion that had plagued a town for six months. He punished himself for this everyday until even thew gods forsook him and condemned him to this temple to live his life out. Insanity has since taken over his mind and he believes that anyone who reads the inscription is the lion he must kill. |
in Mucius's mind, the old man was finishing his tale. "I tried to tell him the lion wasn't real, but he just wouldn't listen to me. By the way, my name is Caius. I used to be high priest here until Casius kicked me out." |
out a few words before he withered away, "I'm sorry....." as the final syllable slipped away and he died. Or so we thought. "I'm sorry, I just had to see the look on your face when you found out I'm just fine. Thanks dad, but can I have my sword back now?" |

do you mean, you insane fool?" he asked, with stinging severety to his voice. "I mean, I want my sword back!" the delerious man said, before his head fell against the stone floor one final time. His last breath dwelled in his lungs, then slipped out unnoticed by the others, who were staring at the large statue of Zeus. His eyes were glowing and there seemed to be a rising and falling of his chest. "Impossible..." thought Mucius, but obviously not... |
began to stand. The men around him scrambled away with fright, ans Mucius dropped the sword on the ground. "What are you mortals doing to my temple!? Defiling it with your filthy and fights, that's what!" Mucius reached for the sword that he had dropped on the floor and realized it was gone. As he looked around and saw a shadowy figure turn the corner, that statue of Zues began to walk. |
"But I'm Mucius!" Suddenly, Mucius awoke. He was sprawled in the middle of a field, the sky bruised purple. Lightning twitched like a clotted vein. "I've had a vision!" he screamed at the oblivious heavens. |
"Marco I think that baseball make you crazy" said a kid named Francis. "I hit the ball and started to run to first base". "When you went to catch the ball in the air it knocked you out" said Francis. |
"But what just happened?? Am I Mucias.... or Marco?" asked Mucias, very cunfused. "Marco...? Who on Earth is Marco? Well, any way, I heard that Casius is still alive!" said Cauis. "Yes, I know," said Mucias quietly. "I saw him while we were in the dungeon. He led me out. He said he rescued me.... So he could kill me." "Well then, we'll just have to stop him, won't we! When we were in the dungeon, I heard one of the bandits talking. Apparently, he is in a small town at the base of Mount Olympus." |
Mucias looked out and groaned. It would be a very long fall just to end up in the moat full of boiling water, crocodiles, and anacondas. He shuddered, imagining himself trapped in a crocodile's jaws or being squeezed to death by an angry anaconda, and turned back to the dwarf, who was hiding an ugly smile behind his hand. "Well," said Mucias,"At least you can tell me if that road down there is busy with merchants at any time." The dwarf hesitated, then whispered," Yes, there are a lot of people and beggars there in the morning and evening. But, they can't help you. There is an invisible net surrounding this castle. When someone dares to intrude, they get trapped in it, and when Caius comes home, he kills the person who is unlucky enough to get caught. Now everyone knows that story and they won't dare to even talk to you. |
