Comments:So glad to have caught your concert earlier this evening. Outstanding musicianship and wonderful blend of music from elements of classic to Ellington to tango and contemporary as well as Marc's own compositions. Your sound was terrific!! Listening to your music "live" was a great pleasure, memorable. Joey was "bows under" but he didn't let it interfere. I look forward to more performances in Nanaimo. God bless.

Comments:Took in your performance last night in the Charlie White Theatre in Sidney...watching you all from the back row - only the 8th row so no nose bleeds....was amazing! The three of you were like one - a calming yet energizing presence. We had the feeling that the pieces were all so well understood by you and your stage presence was very much connected to the audience ... Appreciated the emotions we experienced through this presentation...all without lyrics. And Marc, you said you couldn't play the banjo! Ha! That was incredible.

Comments:Thank you so much for a birthday present i will not soon forget. It was a real pleasure to watch and hear the three of you play and laugh together. Pure joy. Marc, I'm very happy to have met you and look forward to our boys meeting each other this summer on the island. -Perhaps we can have a little father-son boating time. Something i forgot to mention on Friday, i think we must have been feeling some of the same things around the time i was living in Victoria and you wrote Dunsmuir Rd. The feeling absolutely touched my soul. Thank you. Oh yeah... yay diaper free!!! Joey, it was a pleasure to meat you. you have my utmost respect. I'd enjoy a time when we can have a conversation that isn't drowned out by being in a club. Reuben, thank you. I'm so happy to have reconnected with you and had the opportunity to watch your performance. It is so wonderful to see you having so much fun while traveling around with friends playing music. I know the experience and memories will never leave you. It is amazing to watch where our lives take us. I remember the summer when we met on Little Trib. Memories of a nine and ten year old free to roam. Later memories of you and your Pa playing and singing Leonard Cohen. And so many memories of your display of musical talent. So many times over those years and now, i have been deeply inspired by you. Always the 'cool cat'. Thank you for a great birthday memory -April 3rd at the Capital Theater in Nelson BC. Comments: Dear Marc,Joey and Rueben, Let me first say that it was my extreme pleasure to have done sound for you three friendly, down to earth gentlemen last Saturday night in my adopted home town of Ponoka. Not only did I get to hear a sonic triple threat but I feel like I made three new friends and I hope you all feel the same way! The compliments have been flowing in constantly about how much people enjoyed your performance. Rueben thanks for your kind assistance during sound check it was invaluable, not to mention just being an all round laid back cat and a nice human being. Joey I was surprised to hear you are actually left handed as you play bass right handed bass flawlessly. Joey it is not often I meet someone from Tennesee and it was my pleasure meeting you friend. Marc I hope you enjoyed some "fast paced" (visions of "The Incredibles") fathering fun with Arlo when you got home on Sunday! If you have not watched "The Incredibles" you and Arlo the fast paced boy would love it. Godspeed friends, I hope your home safe. I am a better person today having met you and also having you three as friends. If ever any of you need anything just call or drop by. My House and music store is your home as well! Comments:My all time favourite gypsy jazz trio. I have all the Marc Atikinson Trio CDs and love them. Really enjoyed your visit to Art Space (PG) last winter...though it was very cold that night..the toe tappin was alive and warmed everyone's heart. Please come back, we'd much love to see and hear you. (Imagine if Django could only hear you play, he would be greatly impressed.) I often think about what a grappelli violin added tot he M.A.T would sound like but, it might over flavour too much from the fantastic guitar work, but then again, hmmmm??? cheers,

Comments:Hi Marc: Heard you at the Jazz Festival in Gibsons a couple of years back (went for my birthday - gift from my wife Margaret) and just had to buy your Marc Atkinson Trio CD. I play classical piano myself and we run a B&B Retreat. We play your CD more than any other and it always brightens a rainy day and gets our hearts and toes tapping. It's great that you and your trio are being recognized so widely - you deserve every bit of it, as much for the joy and pleasure you radiate as for your great music. Figured we'll bring some SA sunshine in by getting your latest CD soon. Please give us a call if you want a great B&B experience with fabulous food - we may even play some music for you from a great Canadian treasure, the Marc Atkinson Trio!

Comments:I first heard the trio at last years PNW DjangoFest. They came in shortly after Robin Nolan's trio. Although I love Robins style of playing, and have great admiration for his skill, the tempo that night, was so fast I felt like I was in the bleachers watching an acoustic drag race. Marc, on the other hand, took me on a musical ramble, that allowed me time to breathe in each note, each nuance, and really embrace the mood of the songs. One of my favourite compositions is "To Hold Awhile" which I would describe as a poem without words. The narrative is right there in the music: all of it original, distinctive and if Django was there he would have enjoyed it too!

Comments:As a financial sponsor of DjangoFest NW, Langley, Washington, I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing your trio at the DFNW this year. Your music was the highpoint of the festival. Although I didn't hear any "Django" music, I did hear a true artist at work. There were many craftmen at the fest, ie, those who would seek to play Django's music faster and better each year, but very few artist, ie, those who actually create music. Marc, you are a true artist and I look forward to seeing and hearing you and the trio again in the near future in our beautiful Northwest part of the world. Best of luck and personal regards, Clint and Wendy Bell

Comments:hey guys - i saw you play (a long way from home for me) on a rainy day in vancouver when i was on vacation last early july, and i picked up both your records after your set. i'm not sure how much coverage you have in the states, but i'm spreading the word around here and to all my friends at their schools, from here to california. it must feel pretty incredible to have people enjoying what you love and create in little places you'd never expect. even people across my town coming to one of the gigs i played with my friends in the summertime was unforgettable, so if you ever decide that your influence isn't spreading where you want or that you're going to stop for one reason or another, know that you've made a mark on at least one musician somewhere in the world... can't wait to hear more from you soon~ thanks for the music.

I have never been captivated at a perfomance to the point I forgot where I was, until the Marc Atkinson Trio came to play for us on Pender Island, March 8, 2003 - Immersed in the feel of their music, in awe of their technical capabilities, and subtle sense of humour spoken and unspoken - beep beep, its eight o'clock! Looking forward to Marc's solo album too, the notes above the fifth fret - the likes I have never heard.

And LO AND BEHOLD! It's the same Chris Frye! It's been a long time since the UBC team played that tournament in Manila, but I am so glad that you are still playing music. Comments:Just a short note long on gratitude for an inspiring performance last night to kick off the Quadra Island Rec Society's '02 concert season. The three of you can lay down some of the tightest, most fluid and uplifting grooves I've ever heard live, anywhere. Chris, you are THE consumate rhythm master. Joey, if I were one iota of the upright guru you are I'd die fulfilled, and Marc, very few events in my career are as rewarding as listening to a former student, who has far surpassed the teacher, and taken his love of music to this level of success. Your energy is permeatingly divine...... Thanks guys, and please come back soon.

Comments:Marc, Monday morning, back at work, wishing it still was the weekend. Although, it's been made much easier to deal with as I listen to your new cd. It's wonderful. Saw you with the Bills at the Ottawa Folk Festival - what a great time. Thanks for coming east for the show. You have an open invitation to come back ANYTIME.
