Looking at the pictures of your second slingshot brings back a lot of memories. We raced the 'New Yorker' Top Fuel car out of Port Washington, NY, with Casey Powell at the helm, and I got a chance to see you run at Englishtown. Your car and the Jade Grenade really looked beautiful. Now that they're racing only 1000 feet in fuel cars, it's time to bring back the FED's! Enjoy life in paradise! Regards, Buzz Woods |

| Comments: | Aloha Bruce,
Certainly enjoyed the tour of your website. Brought back some great memories of the time I spent in your station wagon going to some tracks in the DC area with you, Al Friedman and your wife Bobbie and how nice you all were to me. As a 17 year old budding photographer you offered encouragement and support that will always be remembered by me. Thanks ever so much. Now that you're a photographer you can understand how important it is to have someone appreciate your work. How can I see some of your photos? Aloha, Alan Earman |

| Comments: | I remember Bruce and crew from the days that my older brother Bert rode with them as a crew person. I can still see the car getting squirrelly at Cecil County Dragway one night and scaring the wits out of my grandmother, who had come to the races for her first (and only) time, just to see what all the fuss was about. The grandkids (Bert among them) didn't have the heart to tell her that what she saw was standard operating procedure. |

Afterwards, you loaned me $5.00 so I could buy some beer down @ the Dixie Liquor (ice cold Coors in a can!) and then go see the Nighthawks play at The Bayou on the canal. I'd like to return the favor if you ever on Oahu (and repay you the $fiver)...but really was wondering if you have any old copies of the paper? I'd like to frame one for my wall in the den.....Aloha, Rocky |

I was the announcer and event chairman when you ran your wife's Mazda MPV van to the finals in street bracket.(I guess cutting a good light is one of those skills you just don't loose!) You brought in one of your photo albums of your old cars, and it was great as I am sure I had seen you run back in the days of yore. I've seen you several times since at the track, but haven't had much time to talk as I'm usually busy running my black '66 Mustang, the Heartbreaker. I would love to see more of your old photos, so stop by and share them some time. John |

| Comments: | Thanks for the memories, these were great times and just about anyone who really wanted to could go out and race his own car. Imagine trying to field your own Top Fuel car now. I ran the hot car loop (all push start cars and comp. class machinery) at Dallas International Motor Speedway from day one to the last race held there. If I remember right you qualified at the first national meet we held as D.I.M.S. but wound up as number one alternate because you went back to the motel thinking your qualifying time would stand.
P.S. That race was the first national meet where all of the qualifiers and the first two alternates were in the 6 second bracket. Great Times- Thanks, Mike |

I STILL HAVE A GOLD CLASS-WINNER FENDER COVER THAT ONE OF THE RACERS GAVE TO ME WHEN I WAS 12! ONE TIME I PICKED UP A PIECE OF GARLITS BLOWER THAT HAD EXPLODED AT THE STARTING LINE, AND WENT BACK TO THE PITS TO HAVE HIM SIGN IT. WHEN HE SAW THE PIECE HE SAID HE HAD TO KEEP IT TO SHOW THE MANUFACTURER WHERE IT BROKE - WHAT A BUMMER FOR A KID WHO WORSHIPED ALL THOSE FEARLESS RACERS! (INCLUDING BRUCE WHEELER, SOX AND MARTIN, DICK LANDY, THE SNAKE & MONGOOSE.) I STILL REMEMBER THE TIME BILLY MEYERS FIRST PULLED INTO THE TRACK WITH TRUCK AND OPEN TRAILER, THE ROLLERS IN THE STARTING AREA TO START THE FUELERS, THE FIRE & BLEACH BURNOUTS OF THE FIAT BODIED RAILS...I COULD GO ON ALL DAY BUT I BETTER NOT BORE EVERYONE TOO MUCH! IF ANYBODY COULD HELP ME LOCATE POSTERS OR TIME SLIPS ETC. FROM LIONS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AT DTRACY03@COMCAST.NET THANKS MUCH, DAVE |

It was painted by David Lopez from Fresno, who ever that is. Heck, you never know, it may be a bundle. I sure have fun with it every year at the track - it's a handfull!
