| Comments: | TO: Jamie, sorry to hear about your Arterio-Venous Malformation. The band wishes you well! However, that is cetainly NOT what the band name AVM stands for.
This question comes up a lot! So, here is the response direct from the band's leader and founder Robert Mackey...The original name of the band was AvenueMax. (Avenue means "A Chosen Pathway" and Max means "To The Greatest Degree"). Our manager did a name test by asking people what kind of music did they think that a band called AVENUE MAX played? Most thought that based on the name that the band probably was a "Blues" or "Smooth Jazz" project. (you see, a lot of things go into a name...) Upon hearing the results of the name test it was decided that a new name that sounded more like a rock band was needed. Robert's Dad was a stock broker and he noticed that company stock symbols are abbreviated so the name was shortened to the letters AVM like Stone Temple Pilots are called STP and Electric Light Orchestra is called ELO. The band name AVM was Trade Marked and the rest is history! We hope this is helpful. | Comments: | Get Well Scotty, I've been thru a similiar surgery a few years back. The Doctors took bone out of my hip and re-constructed my jaw. My hip hurt more than my jaw. I had to eat thru a straw. (could be a song there) Not fun. Looking forward to seeing you back with the band and back to some good rocking fun. This certainly has been a challenging year, hasn’t it? When something like this strikes close to home, it makes one pause and realize the frailty and miracle of life. It’s natural to be angry, sad, frustrated, disappointed, and feel defeated. That being said, one thing I know is you’re not ready to throw it all away. You have way too much to give yet and far too many people to entertain with a tapestry of colors chosen from your musical pallet. As a musician, it is rare to have the opportunity to play with another that has the incredible ability to amaze, mesmerize, inspire, and impress like you do on keyboards. Some may call it a gift, I call it genius. For me, it has, and will continue to be a pleasure to perform with you. It has always been a dream to make my mark in the sand and show the world I was here, if only for a brief moment before the waves washed it away, only to be replaced by another. I think it’s safe to say that you have made your mark in the sand, and we certainly aren’t ready to see it washed away just yet. Hang tough buddy. Like most people I like to reflect upon the last year, adjust, refocus, and count my blessings. But I also (like most people) take some things for granted. The recent events(tsunami)reminded me that it's just not car accidents or terrorist attacks that can change your life in a minute. I am very glad for the opportunity to write, record and perform music. Thank you to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces for the sacrifice that they make...so I can enjoy the freedom to make rock 'n' roll music. I was so moved when I heard from someone in a special forces unit who told me how one of my songs "The River" made him feel 'back home' when he listened to it.
